Chapter 300: 280, Nowadays hospitals do not allow gender identification.
"Do you want to sleep alone, or should I keep you company?"
Mario Jensen gently settled her into the bed and tucked her in, yet he couldn’t resist asking her softly.
After a pause of three seconds, Lina Miller finally responded, "I’m fine by myself. You should go rest in the next room if you’re tired!"
Given they had had the same busy day, if she was tired, he must be even more so.
"You’re suggesting I rest in the next room?" Mario Jensen frowned deeply upon hearing this. He had already stated his intentions clearly today, yet she was still being so difficult. If his mood could improve now, it would truly be strange. "But Lina, this is my room!"
He was right - it was his room. But it was also him who had carried her in. It’s not that she wouldn’t stay in his main bedroom, but Lina couldn’t find the right words to respond: "Then I’ll go rest in the guest room!"
She tried to get up, but Mario Jensen held her down in frustration.
"Lina!" He unconsciously became accustomed to addressing her this way. Even though her full name, Lina, sounded good, it felt strange to use it in a formal way, especially now that she was trying to distance herself from him.
Lina didn’t say anything, she just stared at the man before her. His exquisite and charming features, the perfect outline of his face - just looking without doing anything could make her heart race and her body heat up. This wasn’t the first time he called her Lina, but it was definitely the first time it sounded so sweet.
Though he was clearly irritated, his voice was still pleasing to the ear.
Looking at the woman before him, her clear eyes fixed on him, he saw purity, like a mountain spring flowing directly into his heart, disturbing his tranquil inner peace. The fatigue that had been accumulating over the last few days seemed to evaporate, replaced by a man’s primal desire for a woman.
Looking at her face, peeking out from the quilt like a freshly blooming lotus, Mario Jensen swallowed hard, a familiar heat stirring within him, particularly in certain parts of his body.
"Forget it, you rest well. I’ll come back when it’s time for dinner," Mario Jensen kissed her forehead before swiftly getting up to leave. Staying any longer, he wasn’t sure what he would do. He resisted for 27 years, gave in once after three months, but didn’t end up like how people say men turn rampant once they have a taste. But ever since he met her, in just a few days, his body has started reacting unpredictably.
Sometimes it’s her words, her gestures, or even just the look in her eyes. Anything could easily arouse him. He was starting to question if he was this lewd by nature.
Mario Jensen, feeling frustrated, rubbed his head and walked out of the room, shutting the door behind him. Right before shutting the door, it’s like he remembered something and told Lina, "Oh yes, I’ll grab your household register and ID card from your suitcase later. Get ready because we’re heading to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning!"
He repeated again, "Rest well!"
Then, with a bang, he fled the room as if he was afraid of a delay could result in her refusal.
Watching Mario Jensen’s swift departure, Lina replayed his words, again and again in her mind. He said she could marry him if she didn’t want to marry her child’s father. He said their child needs a father and someone to take care of them. He said he would take care of them both. He said he didn’t want fairness, he just wanted her and her child.
The shock in her mind came in waves as she understood his intentions...
She didn’t dare to think about what came next, after years of pain and rejection, she didn’t dare hope anymore. But now, when the possibility was right in front of her, if she were to say she didn’t want this, she would be lying. God knows how eagerly she wants this.
Forget it, since she wants it, she should let it happen!
He is unmarried, she is unmarried. If he is willing to get married, and she is too, and they share a child. Perhaps there will come a day when he will completely leave behind the feelings he couldn’t have and see her, who has always been standing at a distance.
Then they should just follow the natural course and tie the knot!
Moreover, the whole of Andras City already knows they are husband and wife!
With this in mind, Lina fell asleep quickly and woke up to see the servants moving her suitcase into the master bedroom, hanging her clothes in Mario Jensen’s closet one by one.
Lina stared in shock as the servant hung their clothes together in the closet, the sudden change making her feel somewhat dizzy.
"Could you put my clothes in the guest room?"
Even though they were going to get their marriage certificate tomorrow, she thought it was better to sleep separately. Her sleep quality has been poor recently, and she often woke up restless, due to her leg cramps or the baby. If she shared a bed with him, like they did in the hotel a few days ago, she doubted Mario Jensen would get any sleep.
"Miss Miller, stop joking. We’re already preparing to call you Mrs. Jensen and you still want to sleep in the guest room? Mr. Jensen asked us to move your belongings into the master bedroom and keep them together with his!"
While speaking, the servant glances at Lina’s belly with a mischievous look. As if implying, you’re already this far along, what’s there to shy away from? This look was enough to turn her cheeks red.
Lina got out of bed and sat for a while. Dinner was ready. The servants were going to call Mario Jensen for dinner, but seeing them all busy, Lina who hadn’t moved much the whole day decided to go up and call him herself. Just as she reached the door of the study, she raised her hand to knock when...
"Mom, I’ve told you, she’s a reserved person. I’ll bring her to meet you in a few days. Don’t be so hasty, you might scare her!"
The low, charming sound of Mario Jensen’s voice seeped through the door, causing Lina to pause her knocking.
He must be talking to his mother on the phone, and it sounded she wanted to meet Lina. But Mario Jensen turned her down, probably worried his mother might make it difficult for Lina.
Lina had been working with Mario Jensen for many years and only heard him mention his mother but never met her. His tone always held respect and reverence. As a woman from an esteemed family and who was once the heiress to one of Andras city’s wealthiest family, Mario Jensen’s mother had a strict upbringing. She must have a low opinion of an unmarried woman carrying a child. Especially if that woman is an actress in the eyes of society.
Mario Jensen must be in a tight spot!
Holding the phone, Mario Jensen leans back in his chair. His mother prattled on for quite a while before he responded, "Mom, I know. I will take good care of her."
"Mom, the hospital doesn’t allow gender identification at the moment. Whether it’s a boy or a girl, we’ll know once the baby is born. Okay, I need to hang up now. Don’t meddle with my affairs, rest assured, I will take her to meet you."
After hanging up, Mario Jensen sighed deeply. His mother must be so eager for a grandson that she has gone mad. Just a glance at the news, and she had to chit chat the entire afternoon. He was already finding her annoying, if she were to pester Lina like this every day, Lina would probably never rest well.
