Chapter 264: 244, A matter of life and death
On the way back, Ivy kept thinking about the words of Mario Jensen and Lina Miller’s expression at the time, and she felt that there was something strange going on between them.
She understood Mario’s character; he wouldn’t dare do something he couldn’t face. Then why did Lina secretly run away while pregnant?
Was there some misunderstanding between them?
She wouldn’t feel at ease with a pregnant woman alone outside, let alone Mario Jensen. It wasn’t easy for her to go through pregnancy and give birth alone. If it hadn’t been for Sienna Harrison, who had taken care of her for a while, who knew what would have happened to her!
Ivy truly hoped that Mario could find Lina, so they could live happily together.
As she was thinking, Ivy looked absentmindedly out of the car window and saw some familiar characters on the roadside. She discovered it was Bianca Aretha’s favorite hibiscus cake: "Peter, pull over for a moment, I’ll go buy something!"
"Alright, ma’am!" The car soon stopped by the roadside, "Or, ma’am, you can rest here, and I’ll help you buy whatever you want!"
"I’ll go myself, just wait for me here, I’ll be right back!"
Ivy decided to go in person to satisfy Bianca’s picky taste.
This store’s hibiscus cake had the best flavor and texture, and it was handmade. Bianca Aretha loved it and would come here whenever she had time. The owner was an old man who had been in the business for generations, so he and Ivy Aretha were quite familiar with each other.
When he saw her, he immediately instructed his staff to pack some for her.
Just as Ivy said her thanks and took the packed bag of hibiscus cake, she suddenly felt something was wrong around her. A chilling air enveloped her.
"In broad daylight, what do you want!?"
Hearing the old man’s voice, Ivy turned around to see several burly men with fierce looks, focusing on the old man’s cash box. At first, she thought they were troublesome people eyeing the old man’s hard-earned money.
As Ivy was about to speak, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her neck, her vision blackened, her legs weakened, and lost consciousness.
When she opened her eyes again, Ivy found herself lying in a dilapidated cave, bound, and surrounded by dripping water. Her first reaction was, could she have time-traveled!?
"Is anyone there?"
Ivy yelled, but only heard her echo, and no other sound. Just as she struggled to free herself, she heard footsteps approaching, followed by a rough man’s voice.
"Boss, we’ve made a fortune this time. Such a good catch handed to us on a silver platter and even giving us money, such a good deal!"
"You don’t know anything. Do you think they’re just giving us money? They want us to rape and then kill her. That money is to pay us for killing!"
Hearing this conversation, Ivy’s heart tightened, and a foreboding sense of unease filled her.
She was kidnapped, and the kidnappers were planning to rape and kill her on someone’s order!
A bold hypothesis spread in her mind but was quickly dismissed, and she instinctively held her breath, wanting to hear more information.
As the two men’s footsteps drew nearer, their conversation continued.
"Killing?" The one who was called Boss, seemed to be somewhat frightened by these words, "haven’t we always just raped, never killed?"
"That’s why they’re giving us so much money. Do you think we’d get that much money just for raping a woman?"
Ivy heard the Boss’s impatient scolding.
As she was on edge and trying to recall who would suddenly want her life, the two men had already approached. As she had imagined, they were indeed two burly, fierce-looking men.
One of them, who was called Boss, was the man who had knocked her out in front of the hibiscus cake shop. The other, the so-called Boss, was someone she had never seen before. He had a rough and formidable appearance, a horrifying face, and a large scar on his neck. Just looking at him, she knew he wasn’t a good person and felt fear in her heart.
Even though Ivy was usually bold and unyielding, at this moment, the color drained from her face. Despite pretending to be calm, her voice trembled, "Who are you? And why have you kidnapped me?"
Of course, it was a pointless question. Why would the kidnappers reveal who they were or why they kidnapped her?
As Ivy spoke, her eyes met those of the scarred Boss, knowing that only he could decide whether he was willing to tell her the truth!
The scarred Boss didn’t speak, but the other man did: "Hehe, beautiful, it doesn’t matter who we are, as long as we can make you happy!"
As he spoke, he looked Ivy up and down with a lascivious gaze, his hand unconsciously reaching for her face, attempting to touch her cheek. Ivy turned her head, making his hand miss.
"Yo, does this little beauty have a temper!" The man rubbed his palms with a lewd smile, "But I like it. That’s what rape is all about, isn’t it? Women who don’t resist are so boring. It’s not as fun as going to the red light district for the night!"
Where women would strip you naked if you pay them, the service was excellent, but those women were too boring, weren’t they?
So to see Ivy’s strong-willed and unyielding face, despite her obvious fear, excited him.
He couldn’t wait any longer, licking his dry lips and swallowing, his predatory gaze like a dangerous violation of a man: "Boss, didn’t you promise that since I captured her, I would be the first to have her? When can I get started?"
He couldn’t wait, it had been a long time since he had seen such a stubborn woman. Those who had been tied to these desolate mountains and could remain so composed, he had never experienced this before. The women they had encountered before either screamed and cried or fainted from fear.
After all, their intimidating appearances—escaped convicts living in the mountains—were enough to scare most people!
"What’s the hurry? Just wait, when Brother Dunn calls, you can have her!" The scarred Boss finally spoke in front of Ivy, "If you’re capable, rape her to death. Save us the trouble later!"
He hadn’t killed anyone for a long time!
Ivy squinted, watching the scarred Boss closely, trying to read something from his expression. Who was after her? What was their purpose?
