Chapter 188: 169、His Exorbitantly Priced Wife

"Michael, why did your phone-off yesterday? Your father had a heart attack last night because of your actions and was hospitalized. We couldn’t reach you the whole night!"

Risa Scott was helped in by Alya Larson. As soon as she entered, she anxiously spoke to Michael Gordon. The panic in her voice made Ivy Aretha flinch, her body growing tense.

Did Calvin Gordon have a heart attack and have to be hospitalized because of their marriage?

Last night, a call was made from Gordon Mansion to Michael, and then he went out with his phone. When he came back after the call, he looked normal. She didn’t ask him about it... Could it be?

"How’s my dad doing?" Michael’s eyebrows furrowed deeply, his gaze on Risa Scott swept past Alya Larson with a bit of a chill, his voice implying a challenge, "My father’s in the hospital, and as his wife, can’t you stay by his side?"

He remembered his call with Calvin yesterday seemed fine. There were no big issues. His father opposed his relationship with Ivy, but it was only because of traditional views on marriage and disapproval of Ivy’s background, nothing serious.

He turned off his phone simply to avoid disturbing everyone with unexpected calls. After all, he wasn’t the only one sleeping last night, there was also a patient and a child!

Perhaps Michael’s gaze was a bit too cold and his words too harsh. Risa couldn’t help but take a step back, her eyes filled with confusion.

"Michael, Uncle Gordon wants to see you. That’s why I hastily came to find you!"

Seeing the look on Michael’s face as he frightened Risa, Alya quickly spoke up in explanation. With a sidelong glance at Ivy being held by Michael, she noticed Ivy’s gloomy expression and a sly smile flashed in her eyes.

"Uncle Gordon was very angry when he found out about Ivy. He wants to see you urgently. Michael, don’t blame Aunt Scott for now. Go to the hospital and see Uncle Gordon first!"

Alya admitted that she intentionally mentioned this in front of Ivy. She had barely escaped death and yet stepped out again from the consideration of Michael, who had managed to save her life when the hospital had declared her case hopeless.

It was impossible for her to manipulate this man. She wouldn’t repeat her previous mistake, and Alya decided to make some changes!

Calvin Gordon’s situation just provided a good opportunity. Why wouldn’t she take advantage of it?

Seeing Michael remained silent, she quickly nudges him, "Michael, you should rush to the hospital where your father is. I can go home by myself. The driver is there anyway!"

"No way!" Michael immediately refused without a second thought, "You almost lost your life when you had a racer for your driver last time. It is a definite no for others. Don’t get in the car if I’m not the one driving!"

As Michael said this, his sharp eyes swept over Alya Larson’s face. The jolt of surprise made her freeze, as if she had been immobilized, and a bucket of cold water seemed to pour down on her from head to toe.

Did he know?

If he knew that she was the one who almost took Ivy’s life, what would he do to her?

It wouldn’t be as simple as how they dealt with it six years ago, would it?

Mulling over these thoughts, Alya Larson’s heavily made-up face gradually paled. Risa Scott, who was closest to her, could already sense her unease. She frowned before seeming to come to a realization.

"Michael, in your eyes, your biological father is not as important as your woman?"

The words were directed at Michael, but her ice-cold gaze landed on the charming and lovely face of Ivy Aretha. After a pause, she turned to Alya and said, "Let’s go!"

With that, the two left the ward.

Even though Ivy told Michael to go see Calvin first and that she could take a ride with the driver, Michael insisted on dropping her home before going to the hospital to see Calvin.

"Michael Gordon, if..." Finally, Ivy gathered courage during their ride home, "If your father opposes it, we don’t have to get married..."

But before she could finish, the man holding her clenched her tighter, and a deep voice passed into her ear: "I told you, you only need to marry me with our daughter, leave the rest to me!"

As if fearing that Ivy didn’t understand, he added, "Just remember, no matter what happens, I, Michael Gordon, will never let my woman and child be nameless and without recognition!"

After saying this, he carried Ivy upstairs without another word, then instructed Cathy on a few things before going to the hospital to see Calvin.

As soon as Michael pushed the door open, a cup clattered to his feet, followed by a burst of swearing.

"You brat, do you even have me, your father, in your eyes? You even hid your marriage from me, do you still consider me your father?!"

Perhaps Calvin was livid, he kept cursing and coughing at the same time.

"Old man, calm down. If you damage your health, what would we mother and son do?" While Risa gently patted Calvin’s back for comfort, she ordered her son, "Skyler, aren’t you calling for the nurse to clean up here?"

"Dad, I already explained things on the call yesterday, didn’t I? You didn’t say anything after that, so why are you suddenly so upset today?"

Michael frowned slightly, looked at Risa, and then asked Calvin, "Did someone say something again in front of you? Or did you find another suitable fiancée for me?"

The word "fiancée" was practically bit in two by Michael’s anger, startling Risa.

Although Risa is now Calvin’s wife and it seems that Calvin’s relationship with Michael isn’t very good, she knows that this man loves his son more than anything.

So for many years, she plays the role of Calvin’s wife and tolerates Michael’s anger. Even giving birth to a son doesn’t change anything.

"Michael, how can you talk to your father like that? According to reason, whoever you fall in love with, whoever you want to marry, as parents, we can only support you. But how can you marry the woman who hurt you back then? We’ve found out that Ivy Aretha is the woman who almost killed you back then!"

Risa nearly snatched the opportunity to answer Michael’s question before Calvin did. She was smart, rather than let Michael guess that she was behind this, it was better to confess all and make it clear her intention was good!.
