Chapter 156: 137. Wedding March of Forced Marriage

"Of course!" Ivy Aretha chuckled lightly, her husky voice laced with humor. "If I’m not strong, who else will live for me?"

An accident, such as a car accident, would be unexpected. Life and death are in destiny’s hands, not all can survive by being fragile. The only choice is to push through. Luckily, she was alive!

"You are always as optimistic as ever!"

Mario Jensen sat down by Ivy’s hospital bed. As she attempted to get up, he pushed her back down onto the bed. "Stay down, you’re injured!"

Ivy turned her head and noticed that Mario was holding her favorite lilies. They must have been freshly bought, still adorned with droplets of water. Ivy, being the beauty that she was, had received flowers numerous times before.

However, it was her first time receiving lilies. Her mood subtly brightened. But when she looked up, she noticed Mario’s intense gaze focused on her, his clear eyes filled with unspoken longing.

The scene, the person, and everything around seemed ambiguous. Michael Gordon’s gaze often made her blush, yet why did Mario’s gaze only induce awkwardness in her?

"Thank you for the flowers, senior!"

In her discomfort, Ivy chose the most neutral words, "The flowers are beautiful!"

"You’re more beautiful than any flower!"

Mario’s eyes did not avoid her discomfort. His gaze remained fixed on her. "I actually wanted to give roses, but I was afraid that Michael Gordon, that jealous man, would simply get rid of them upon turning his back!"

It wasn’t so much about fearing that he would throw them away, but more about causing unnecessary drama in front of Ivy over a bunch of flowers. That was a situation he wanted to avoid.

As long as she was fine, anything would do!

For a moment, Ivy didn’t know how to respond. Mario had confessed his feelings last time, but she wasn’t naive enough to think that just over a few months, he would have forgotten about her.

As Mario’s gaze persisted, she found she couldn’t ask her questions. After a long pause, she finally spoke up:

"Senior, I really owe you my life this time!"

"I just happened to pass by. You can say that you were lucky!"

If Lina Miller’s car hadn’t broken down, he wouldn’t have had to personally drop her off at the shooting site outside the city and would not have had the chance to be there for Ivy at her hour of need!

So, it can be said that Ivy was lucky that there was someone passing by; any other person in that situation would have done the same. Yet this time, he had still lost to Michael Gordon!

A complete defeat!

Mario looked at Ivy but didn’t make any move to put the flowers in the vase. His gaze fell onto Ivy’s bandaged forehead, and after a long moment, he finally spoke. "Ivy, would you marry Michael Gordon for the sake of the child?"

He didn’t ask if she loved Michael, but whether she would marry him for the child. He was afraid to know the answer!

Since Michael boldly proclaimed that she was his woman, and that they were to have a child, in front of Risa Scott, the story has been reported crazily in newspapers and media.

Such news could not have spread without Michael’s knowledge, even his approval!

Michael has had many scandalous rumors, but all were with his silent consent. In Andras City, if Michael Gordon said a word, the entire media industry would be obedient!

You may say in this matter; he had the upper hand.

"Maybe, if he agrees, then yes!"

Ivy glanced at Mario, and she was genuinely grateful for him. He was one of the few men she could truly consider a friend. Of course, in this world, there are no wholly platonic male or female friends, especially since Mario had professed his love to her, she couldn’t give him any illusions.

"After all, there’s a child between Michael and I, and it seems like Bianca really likes him!"

In fact, it’s not just an assumption - Bianca genuinely likes him a lot.

As she said this, a sweet smile played on her lips. Her mind couldn’t help but recall how Michael feigned illness to force her into dating and used the opportunity to coerce her into marriage. Despite all his scoundrel-like behavior, why did sweetness tug at her heart every time she thought of him!

Her casual words, however, landed like a death sentence in Mario’s ears--he had no chance!

"It seems I’ve been defeated by a child!" Mario sighed in despair, a shadow misting over his handsome face. But then he laughed lightly, "If I had known, I should have made my move earlier, have a child of my own, then maybe..."

"Then, you still wouldn’t have a chance!"

Before he could even finish speaking, his words were unceremoniously interrupted by someone pushing the door open. The familiar arrogant tone of speech gave away the entrance of Michael Gordon, before he could even turn to confirm.

"I, Michael Gordon, don’t need a child to be part of my deal when I decide to marry a woman!"

Ivy Aretha: "..."

Who was the person mentioning Bianca as a factor for marriage the other day!

If Mario hadn’t been there, Ivy would definitely have ridiculed Michael’s hypocrisy. But right now, she simply remained silent. If making Michael turn a blind eye would ease Mario’s heart, then it wasn’t a bad idea either.

"If not for the kid, you wouldn’t even have a chance to stand by her side!"

Mario stood up from beside Ivy’s bed, and while speaking, he put the bouquet of lilies he had been holding into a vase on the table.

"Really?"

Michael took long strides towards Ivy’s bed, bent over and gently kissed the bandage on her head, with a large smile plastered across his handsome face. "Remember back when we didn’t have a child, we still ended up in bed, right? Now looking back, some mistakes actually are fate, don’t you think? My love!"

If they hadn’t slept together, would they have a promising future now?

Michael was bold enough to make such a statement, only because he knew Ivy wouldn’t rebuke him, not even for Mario’s sake.

As for his words, Ivy neither agreed nor disputed. But Michael had no intention of letting him go!

"Honey, I’ve heard what you said to your senior just now. Since I agree, you’ll marry me, right?"

His cunning smile grew, and he hooked up an intimidatingly familiar and flirtatious smirk on his lips. "I’m willing, a thousand times over! Now you’re mine, right?"

With his domineering tone, he announced that she belonged to him?

This man was becoming more and more overbearing. Ever since she met him, he had been pushing on, regardless of her will, exerting his control at every stage. The first time she was unwilling, she ended up in his bed, although she was not entirely aware!
