Chapter 143: 124, The truth is so unbearable
She had already guessed, but due to fear, she did not dare to believe that anyone could harm a child this way!
"Yes, it’s just like you think!" Zach Gilbert replied, gazing at her with tired eyes, "I divorced her for you and our daughter, she thought Bianca was our child, so she..."
There was no need to finish his sentence, his words were already crystal clear!
"Scoundrel!"
The sound of a slap echoed abruptly, as a stark red handprint appeared on Zach Gilber’s face.
Ivy Aretha discovered that her own hand was shaking violently, not because she had hit Zach, but because of the thought that someone had attempted to murder Bianca, her baby girl.
Yuri Sanders!
"Zach, I have made it clear to you that after you let go, there would be no opportunity to start over. Why did you insist on divorcing Yuri Sanders? Why must you continue to hurt the women around you!"
Had he not divorced that woman, Yuri wouldn’t have taken such a drastic action!
If Zach hadn’t claimed that Bianca was his daughter, that woman wouldn’t have tried to kill her!
The sins committed by women stem from men’s mistakes!
Exhausted, Ivy Aretha closes her eyes momentarily before walking past the man in front of her: "I’m sorry, I’m at work, I have things to attend to, please don’t hinder me."
"Ivy Aretha, your daughter is still alive, please, for goodness sake, let Yuri go!"
That silly woman, doing such a foolish thing, was all his fault. He had hurt her, but he didn’t want to see her ruined because of him!
Upon hearing this, Ivy Aretha’s steps momentarily halted, however, she didn’t turn back. Instead, she simply replied, "My daughter is alive because she’s lucky. This doesn’t mean I have to forgive those that tried to harm her!"
As she walked further and further away, she added, "And, I didn’t know Yuri caused the accident that hurt my daughter. If I knew, I wouldn’t let her go so easily. So, begging me is useless...beg someone who is relevant!"
Zach stood still, unable to speak a word!
Things had indeed come to an end between him and Ivy Aretha, and it was high time to let go!
’Ask those who should be asked,’ she had said. It was clear she wanted him to approach Michael Gordon!
That man!
Zach Gilbert squinted his eyes heavily.
"Ivy, you and Michael have a daughter?"
Alya Larson asked, keeping her eyes on the road as she carefully drove. Even though a storm was brewing in her heart, her tone remained as calm as a still lake.
"Yes, due to an unexpected incident in the past!"
Since things have reached this point, there was no hiding Bianca’s identity. Alya Larson would’ve found out eventually. Keeping it a secret only fans the flames.
A child can’t be kept a secret forever!
"An accident? Didn’t you know Michael back then?"
Alya Larson couldn’t help but ask even though she knew that Ivy Aretha had forgotten about their past. Perhaps she was still holding on to a trace of hope!
"I didn’t know him!"
Ivy Aretha answered nonchalantly. However, her response felt like a blow to Alya Larson. Even though Ivy didn’t even know Michael Gordon back then, Alya had lost to her six years ago.
The distinct ring of a phone ringing disrupted the silence in the car, breaking the tension.
"Aunt Scott!"
With just one call from Aunt Scott, Alya Larson fell silent. Her expression gradually darkened until she turned completely pale.
"I see!"
After uttering these three words, she ended the call. The grip on her steering wheel tightened, and she pressed into it so hard that clear fingerprints could be seen.
"What happened?"
Just when Ivy Aretha asked this question, a large truck suddenly appeared in front of them. There were a few narrow sections on the road out in the suburbs where they were headed to, and here was one of them. Just their luck that a large truck was approaching.
Seeing the lorry packed to the brim, they could tell this was an overloaded truck. Ivy Aretha’s nerves were immediately on high alert and she warned, "Careful, there’s a truck up ahead!"
Alya Larson, who was still mulling over Aunt Scott’s words, was promptly pulled back to reality by Ivy’s warning. There was a narrow intersection up ahead, and the overloaded truck was heading right toward them.
If they both maintained their speed, they could avoid each other before reaching the narrow part of the road. However...
In a moment of madness, Alya Larson thought of Aunt Scott’s words, "As long as that woman is alive, you will have no chance as they have a child."
Having just confirmed this fact from Ivy Aretha, Aunt Scott subsequently stamped a seal of approval on this reality. However, Alya Larson knew very well that it was not as simple as them just having a child!
In this moment, a crazy idea passed through her mind. If she had no chance while that woman was alive, what about when she was dead?
In that split second, the idea of "death", of dying together, crossed her mind.
Of course not!
She was the one driving, and in a car accident, the most dangerous position... was the passenger’s seat, where Ivy Aretha was sitting now.
The truck was about to pass the narrow road. Having seen countless car accidents, she knew what could be the worst outcome, and such a golden opportunity only presented itself once. To block or not to block?
If she blocked, she might be seriously injured, and Ivy Aretha might lose her life!
If she succeeded, Michael would never have to hear the name Ivy Aretha again. If she failed, it would just be a mere accident, a common car accident.
Instead of waiting for an opportunity in the company, she might as well take this chance and gamble. After all, she was assigned by Maria Young personally to accompany Ivy Aretha today. If Ivy Aretha died, and she was injured...
What would Michael do?
At the very least, would he show a bit of pity?
Many romances started from pity!
If so, she would gamble!
Seeing Alya’s strange expression and the way she was gripping the wheel—a clear manifestation of her upset emotions—Ivy Aretha, recalling the phone call from earlier, warned again: "Alya, there’s a truck ahead, slow down!"
It was this sentence that made Alya’s reaction even more resolute.
"What did you say?"
She turned to look at Ivy while swiftly turning the steering wheel. Her moves were agile and crisp, but the steering wheel was heading for the truck...
"Alya, you’re going the wrong way, watch out!"
Ivy Aretha exclaimed while illustrating with her hand, urging Alya to turn the steering wheel back.
