Chapter 131: 112. Future Daddy upgraded to Prospective Daddy

Because of Michael Gordon, the entire Legal Department’s people had almost started to take sides silently. Led by Lydia Summers, a part of them had already sided with Alya Larson.

The remaining ones, represented by Sophia Young, started to support Ivy Aretha. One was the fiancée recognized by the family, the other was Mr. Gordon’s openly declared sweetheart!

In the old society, the parents’ arrangement weighed more than heaven. But now, in modern times, only a man’s love is the most crucial. Hence, people in the office began to form cliques. Among all, Maria Young, the leader of the department, was the smartest.

She pretended not to know the office scuffle and didn’t take any side. She spent less time in the office and went to various places.

She was absent for the whole afternoon.

The office atmosphere became tense which Ivy was not used to. Finally, off work, she and Sophia left as soon as the clock struck hour!

One reason was that both women were efficient workers, and the other was that the office atmosphere was too heavy, especially Lydia’s eyes, which seemed to bore a hole in her.

"I say, Sophia, how much do you have against Lydia that even her eyes are full of rage when she looks at me?"

As Ivy and Sophia waited for a taxi in front of the company, Ivy couldn’t help but joke and tease Sophia, "It’s hatred by association now that I’m involved. Did you steal her man?"

For company colleagues who don’t get along, they would usually just not talk to each other. However, the way Lydia looked at Sophia, it seemed like a deep-seated hatred.

Both women were at each other’s throats, making everyone around them hostile as well. Lydia hated Sophia as much as Sophia hated Alya Larson, for no other reason than that they were on different teams.

"Steal her man?" Sophia glanced at Ivy with disdain while resting her arm on Ivy’s shoulder, "With her fox-like face, I couldn’t even steal a man?"

"Oh, the smell of gunpowder is strong. It seems like she stole your man!"

After scanning Sophia’s plain face, Ivy couldn’t help but chuckle, "But Sophia, if your man was truly stolen by her, he probably isn’t your destined lover!"

A man who can be stolen away isn’t trustworthy. It’s either he doesn’t love you enough, or he can’t resist temptation!

"That’s right! It’s not that she stole him away, but that I didn’t want him!"

If a man got involved with a vixen like Lydia, Sophia wouldn’t even be interested. That’s why she just kicked him out, and even though she did, Lydia didn’t get him either, so she had no choice but to be jealous.

"Yo, you two beauties are leaving work, why are you still hanging out here?"

Sophia’s good mood was interrupted by a familiar, sarcastic voice, and the face of Lydia appeared in front of her.

The car stopped in front of Ivy and Sophia, with Alya Larson driving and Lydia in the passenger seat. Ivy could tell at a glance that the convertible driven by Alya was a 380,000-dollar Ferrari.

Seeing their posture, they probably came to ridicule them, but the condescending Miss Larson didn’t even have to speak before the willing gunman, Lydia, started talking.

"Waiting for a taxi? Sophia, it’s fine if you want to take a taxi, but you, Ivy, why are you taking a taxi too? Didn’t Mr. Gordon arrange a driver for you?"

Lydia raised her eyebrows, her heavy makeup concealing a mocking smile, "That’s right, after all, Mr. Gordon is a businessman. If he casually provides luxury cars to every woman he’s in the headlines with, what would our future CEO’s wife do?"

After speaking, Lydia shot a glance at the Ferrari before turning to look at them, "Look, only this kind of woman is suitable for Mr. Gordon. In these times, the rich seek a match in social status. It’s not something that can be achieved just by being Cinderella squeezing into a taxi!"

Ivy didn’t say anything, but her eyes looked at the two individuals who deliberately parked the car in front of them. Her pure face carried a faint smile, as if this conversation had nothing to do with her!

Alya looked puzzled at Ivy’s reaction. She then tried to greet the people across the street, but before she spoke, her words were cut off by Sophia’s contemptuous laughter, leaving her unable to speak.

"Really?" Sophia had already removed her arm from Ivy’s shoulder and bent down to look at the woman in the car, "I thought only those incompetent people rely on money to settle things. Like those useless women who find consolation in their inability to hold onto their man would come up with that ’social status match’ excuse!"

Ha!

Sophia sighed softly as the mockery on her face intensified. Ivy knew that Sophia wanted to use this opportunity to start a fight with Lydia. Eventually, they had to clash, just like Ivy and Alya, and the problem could never be avoided!

"I’m telling you, Miss Larson, you mustn’t mix with a woman like Lydia, who specializes in stealing other people’s men. Those who don’t know might think that birds of a feather flock together, and you’re all the same kind of people...!"

"And what about those who do know?"

Sophia wanted to keep talking, but her words were interrupted by Alya’s light laughter. Her unwavering gaze stared at Sophia’s face, and her eyes glanced at Ivy’s pure and beautiful face.

"Of course, those who do know would not think that Miss Larson is that kind of woman who professionally steals other people’s men!"

As Sophia met Alya’s bright and cold eyes, she chuckled softly, "After all, a man who can be stolen away is either not wanted by other women or isn’t capable. If you can steal a man today, someone else might steal him away tomorrow. In this day and age, there are always talented people replacing each other. Can a smart woman really do such a stupid thing?"

Sophia’s words almost made Ivy applaud on the spot. Watching Alya’s heavily made-up face turn whiter and whiter, Ivy suddenly felt that her mood wasn’t so bad!

She used to think that insulting her love rival was a tasteless thing to do, so when she was with Zach Gilbert, even though Yuri Sanders deliberately provoked her, she chose to ignore it.

Not until now did she realize that wasn’t the case!

So is it the difference between Michael Gordon and Zach Gilbert’s meaning to her, or the difference between Alya Larson and Yuri Sanders as rivals?

She didn’t think about it carefully!

However, she was quite impressed by this girl. She usually didn’t care and focused on gossip. She didn’t expect that she could be so sharp-tongued when arguing and almost stifled people to death!

Indeed, the talented people in the legal world may lack a sense of integrity but never lack eloquence!
