Chapter 1201: Chapter 1180: Give Him a Chance?

Promise?

Who could guarantee against an accident?

Yet, for some reason, her heart calmed down at his assurance. The fear of impending death was slowly, bit by bit, fading away. Maya Sanders stopped talking and just stared at him blankly.

The next moment, the screams in the cabin due to the severe turbulence of the airplane vanished instantly. By the time she realized what was happening, the announcement was already being made in the concert hall.

"The airplane has now passed through the turbulence. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Next up, our flight attendants will be serving drinks!"

What followed was a burst of cheers in the cabin, along with sighs of relief after having survived the ordeal.

"I told you it was nothing, right? Do you believe what I say now?"

Graham Stones chuckled, looking at the woman still distraught in his embrace, the smile on his lips deepening. It was the first time he realized how brittle the heart of this woman, who had always been so stubborn, really was. The feeling of holding her in his arms again after so many years was unexpectedly wonderful.

"I... I..."

As Maya Sanders finally realized she was in his arms, her first reaction was to struggle out of his embrace, "Sorry, I lost my composure!"

Lost her composure?

"I’ve seen worse from you, no need to worry about it!"

Graham Stones intently gazed at her slightly reddening face, the smile in his eyes rippling with hints of spring, "After using me, you’re just going to discard me like that? Don’t you think that’s a bit too cruel to your own man?"

Her own man?

"Sorry, Mr. Stones, I already have a man. Let’s not say things that can cause misunderstandings. I don’t want to arbitrarily be labeled as a mistress again—wouldn’t that be an injustice?"

Again?

This word was interesting, and the simple "again" made Graham Stones even more certain that the information he had found was correct.

"A former man is still a man, after all. I didn’t say anything incorrect. As the saying goes, ’A husband and wife owe each other a hundred days of grace’..."

Before the man could finish, the woman covered his mouth and warned, "If you keep talking nonsense, I will... I will... I will stop talking to you!"

It took her quite a while to finally come up with "stop talking to you."

The man, who was already in a good mood, felt even better now!

He reached out and pried her hand away from his mouth. There were already curious glances being cast their way. The man merely glanced at them indifferently, paying them no mind, only lowering his head close to her ear and speaking softly, "So, if I don’t talk nonsense, then you’ll pay attention to me, right?"

Maya Sanders: "..."

"Good, I swear, I, Graham Stones, before Maya Sanders, will absolutely not speak nonsense!"

After saying that he even raised his hand solemnly to swear, "If I speak nonsense, may I..."

Before he could finish speaking of his burial, she covered his mouth tightly.

The rest of the words were swallowed down his throat.

"You said you wouldn’t talk nonsense—can you even make such a vow?"

Maya Sanders’s face changed with fright. Her biggest fear in life was a plane crash, a bitter experience that transformed her from a wealthy young lady to a homeless orphan in one night. She could never forget the day she lost her parents and was driven out of her home.

"Okay, I won’t make it!"

Watching the woman’s pale, bloodless face, Graham Stones didn’t tease her further. "Then you can’t ignore me now, you said so yourself!"

"What good does it do to pay attention to you? Graham, you’re not young anymore. This kind of roguish life no longer suits you, so, please, settle down with someone suitable and stop lingering over past connections. Women should be cherished, not hurt!"

The moment Maya finished speaking, the airplane landed. "Graham, live your life well, harassing a married woman like me really isn’t befitting of your current status!"

Upon saying that, she stood up to deplane, no longer paying attention to him. But how could Graham just let her leave? Hurriedly grabbing his bag, he followed her and said, "I’m without status now, and I don’t have any woman by my side. Maya, could you give me one more chance?"

Upon hearing this, the woman froze!

Give him another chance?

These were not words that someone like Graham, a known playboy, would typically say. There was a time she waited for such an opportunity, after she initiated their breakup, but he never asked her for another chance. He simply accepted it and immediately returned to his usual frivolous lifestyle.

Before long, he fell for the Jensen family’s young miss at Roy Thompson’s wedding. What was the use of loving such a man further? What point was there in giving him another chance?

It would only lead to deeper desperation for her. Now, she had a daughter and only wanted to live a good life with her child.

"Maya, what about giving me one more chance?"

Seeing that the woman didn’t respond to him, Graham spoke again, "I am willing to compete fairly with that man. No matter who you ultimately choose, I just want one chance!"

Some feelings only reveal their intensity upon reunion, and one only recognizes past regrets when meeting again. Compared to Nana Jensen, whom he had pursued for so long without success, Maya was truly his woman. He took her for granted, then pushed her away. The definitive nature of his departure that year was like a deep scar etched into his heart—out of sight, out of mind, but once seen, it ached to the core.

"There’s no need. We didn’t just meet today. If there was a time for giving chances, it was back then, not now. Times have changed, and I just want to take care of my child. Love, for me, has become an optional snack; having a full meal is what matters now!"

Without a doubt, this "full meal" referred to her child, that adorable little girl!

"Maya..."

Graham wanted to say more, but realized that anything he said would be weak and meaningless.

"Mr. Stones, I’m leaving first!"

Maya was the first one to exit the airport hall. She hailed a taxi and left, leaving Graham Stones standing there in a daze, at a loss for words.

Maya was there to take care of Tanya’s residency registration, which was already arranged. All she had to do was go through the process in person, after so many years of inconvenience. Before leaving, Maya made a point of inviting Alexander Trove for a meal.

"Are you really leaving?"

Having known her for many years, Alexander understood Maya’s personality well. "Have you thought this through? Raising a child alone is not going to be easy!"

"I’m not afraid of hardship. As long as I can see Tanya grow up healthy and happy, no matter how hard or tiring, I’m willing to endure it!"

"If you ever need anything, call me. I know I’m not worthy of you, but I still want to say that if someday you’re tired of being alone, look back and find me, I will always be there!" The man gazed deeply at her, his eyes calm, with only a profound smile. A woman out of reach, he once thought it was good to be closer even if he couldn’t have her, but now she was truly leaving.

"Thank you, Alexander. If not for you, I, Maya Sanders, wouldn’t be alive!"

Saving a life couldn’t be repaid with a mere thank you. "I truly hope you don’t have to be alone anymore. If your ex-wife has changed her ways, consider it. She’s a bit fiery, but she still loves you!"

"If Tanya’s father came back now asking for your consideration, would you consider it? Some things, once hurt, are hurt. It’s not something that can be nullified with mere words of love!"

Once hurt, it remains hurt!

Maya froze!
