Chapter 1100: Chapter 1080: Pounce on the God and Smother Him with Kisses!
"Chani, what’s wrong with you? Caught a cold? It’s so hot out, yet you’re wearing your god’s suit!"
Nana Jensen, pulling her suitcase, came out from the doorway followed by a dozen bodyguards. Since the incident at the airport years ago, this kind of entourage—unwanted yet inescapable—had become a part of her life.
"Ah, you’ve finally arrived. I thought you’d keep us waiting for a decade or half a year before returning to the country!"
When Chani Gordon saw Nana Jensen, she hurriedly took off the suit she was wearing and returned it to Owen Hayes, "By the way, Nora, have you lost weight? Was the food abroad not good enough?"
"Certainly not as delicious as what I can get at your home!"
Nana Jensen smiled faintly, "Thank you for coming to pick me up!"
"Actually, there’s someone else who wanted to come even more, but... he was afraid you wouldn’t welcome him, so..."
"Who?"
Nana Jensen frowned slightly. Was her temper really so terrible?
"John, of course! Who else would it be!" Chani Gordon shrugged her shoulders and then asked, "Did you get a boyfriend while you were abroad? I heard that guys from other races are even more charming than us Asians!"
"Cough, cough, Chani, don’t forget you’re already taken!"
Men really can’t stand it when a girl, while picking someone up, probes into another family’s private business.
"As long as I’m not married, I can change husbands anytime!"
Hearing her man say this, Chani Gordon was quite proud. After all, a man should feel insecure. Of course, she wouldn’t easily let go of such a good opportunity, "As long as we’re not registered, there’s no legal binding, and hence, flirting with hotties doesn’t count as moral betrayal. So, I have the right to choose!"
Owen Hayes: "..."
By talking like this, was she hinting she was tired of him? That wouldn’t do. If this continued, she would sooner or later find someone more suitable to replace him. It seemed he needed to bind her to his home sooner rather than later.
"Enough, Chani, if you keep talking like this, aren’t you afraid your god will run away!"
Upon hearing this, Chani Gordon winked at Nana Jensen and whispered in her ear, "The mountain man has his own cunning plan!"
Nana Jensen: "..."
Once they were outside, Lina Miller and Mario Jensen were already waiting at the door. Chani Gordon’s idea of picking someone up was nothing more than finding an excuse to spend more time with her man. As they grew older and moved on from campus to start working, the time they could spend together had diminished.
Therefore, Chani Gordon was desperate to find reasons to be with him more.
"Chani..."
"Hmm?"
"You will wait for me, right?" Owen Hayes looked at her intently, "You wouldn’t fall for someone else, would you?"
Asking this, Owen Hayes himself lacked confidence. From all aspects, his Hayes family greatly lagged behind the Gordon family. The pressures of dating in youth hadn’t felt as heavy, but now that they were grown up and he was taking over his own company, the gap between the Hayes and Gordon families seemed insurmountable.
He loved her, so naturally, he wanted to prove it with actions, to earn a fortune worthy of marrying her. Although it was hard to reach the heights of the Thompson family like her brother-in-law, he at least wanted to be worthy of the term true love!
"Do you even have to ask if I’ll wait?"
Hearing him talk like this, Chani Gordon seriously wanted to slap him, "Why should I wait for you? Do you not know how precious a woman’s youth is? Let me tell you, Owen Hayes, I’m not waiting any longer. Either propose to me or let’s just break up. I’m not getting any younger, and I don’t have time to waste on you!"
Owen Hayes: "..."
A girl in her early twenties saying she’s not young anymore, then who in the world is young?
But obviously, her age was not the focus, it was the breakup!
Owen Hayes was a man even less adept at wooing women than Rio Gordon. If Chani Gordon hadn’t liked him as well, he would have spent his life secretly pining for her. He struggled to think of the right words.
Suddenly, an idea flashed through his mind and, inexplicably, he blurted out, "Chani Gordon, if you dare to break up with me, I’ll just die to show you!"
Chani Gordon: "..."
Having known him for so long, when did she discover that this man had a talent for threatening death? Really, what a piece of work for a grown man!
Damn it!
Threatens with death over a breakup, silent about marriage, and now he’s asking her whether she’ll wait for him?
What the hell does this scumbrel mean?
But even though he’s a scoundrel, what should she do if she still likes him?
Forget it, expecting this blockhead to propose is hopeless. She’ll take matters into her own hands!
"Not breaking up is possible too. Tonight, room 10080 at Rino Hotel, this is your best chance!"
After saying that, she left the man at the airport, got in the car and directed her driver to drive off. Owen Hayes stood on the ground for a long while, struggling to comprehend what had just happened. His recent spies monitoring Chani Gordon reported that she was very popular lately, with a throng of suitors. Could it be that she really met someone she liked and wanted to dump him?
Meet at the hotel to talk?
No, no, he had to call Rio Gordon first to understand what exactly was happening.
The call was answered by Senna Leon, and it took Owen Hayes a while to realize that he was already married. The same-aged brother was married, which of course meant it was slightly late for a girl like her, and he felt it was about time to give her a wedding.
He couldn’t always lag behind the Gordon family, just waiting forever!
"So, you call me and don’t speak. What does that mean?"
"Um, Rio, I wanted to ask you something!" Owen Hayes felt somehow embarrassed to say it, but he had no choice, "I wanted to know, has there been a lot of men pursuing Chani at your company recently?"
"Whether there are suitors or not, didn’t those spies you employed at your expense tell you? Owen Hayes, you’ve really got some nerve, bribing employees at our company!"
After graduating, Chani Gordon began working as a segment editor at her company. Given her attractive appearance and not being by his side, Owen Hayes naturally couldn’t help worrying. And with worry, he did some foolish things, like bribing the people around Chani Gordon, sending his company to monitor her love rivals. Everything had been going fine until now, but with Chani Gordon’s recent words, Owen Hayes suddenly felt that these spies might be unreliable. Did they fail to supervise the important stuff?
"Cough cough, Rio, don’t be like that. For the sake of our past as classmates, help me out. Are there suitors or not?"
"You should be more concerned about whether Chani knows about the stupid things you’re doing, rather than whether she has love rivals!" Rio Gordon was at his wit’s end. She wouldn’t fancy anyone because in her eyes, no one else was worth a glance. If she wasn’t fond of someone, no amount of supervision would matter. Eyes might be watched, but can one watch over a heart?
