Chapter 1077: Chapter 1057: Duel Between Rivals!
"What did Uncle say?"
Bella Gordon’s eyes bulged out as if they’d pop out. If her younger brother really liked someone, it would set the family’s mind at ease. He was already in his twenties and had never been in a relationship; it was impossible for the family to not be worried.
"Uncle didn’t say much. When I suggested that Uncle should bring her home to be the beloved Aunt, he didn’t say anything, just kept staring at her!"
"Damn, isn’t that obvious? What kind of person is your uncle? If he wasn’t interested, would he let you talk like that without saying a word to explain himself, just staring at her?"
It seemed her chilly younger brother truly had met a girl he liked. Love at first sight wasn’t so bad. Bella became instantly excited, "I’m telling you, Sisi, you need to tell Mommy right away. What’s that aunt’s name? What does she look like? Can your uncle win her over?"
But then Bella realized she was wrong: "No, no, that’s not right. There shouldn’t be any woman out there my uncle can’t handle!"
What kind of person was her brother? There couldn’t be any woman who couldn’t handle him, only women he couldn’t be bothered with!
"Mommy, you’re wrong. Right now, there actually is a woman Uncle can’t handle. She rejected him before he even spoke up!"
Bella Gordon: "..."
"Who is this woman?" Bella felt the world had become mysterious. There was actually a woman Rio Gordon, the God, couldn’t win over. "Say it, Mommy... I salute her for being so tough!"
This woman had guts!
In Andras City, there were rumors that if Rio Gordon stood still, women would want to strip off their clothes, and if Rio Gordon smiled, the weather in Andras City would improve. Sadly, Rio Gordon never smiled!
And there was even a rejection of a proposal!
Indeed, in Bella’s view, Rio not rejecting someone was as good as proposing! Just who was this woman?
"It’s Phoebe’s Mommy!"
"Mommy? She has a child?" Furiously, Bella almost burst into flames, "Sisilia Thompson, are you so bold as to make your uncle the mistress?"
To match her uncle with a woman who had a child, this young girl really did go too far.
"Phoebe’s aunt separated from her dad long ago, her dad is in Africa. Her little Mommy also said they were incompatible, so Uncle is definitely not a mistress!"
Bella Gordon: "..."
"That would still be a second marriage!"
In her heart, her brother was perfect. He had never been in love; how could he get tangled up with someone who had already been married?
From that point on, Bella’s head felt like it was going to explode.
Leon family
As soon as Senna Leon got home, a barrage of scolding from Mrs. Leon filled the air.
"Senna Leon, you must go on a blind date tomorrow. Otherwise, I no longer have a daughter!"
"Mom, I’ve told you, I have to take care of Phoebe right now. I don’t have the energy or the desire to get married!"
Phoebe had already fallen asleep. Senna had someone carry her to her room to sleep before she properly explained to her mother.
"Excuses. When have I ever opposed taking care of Phoebe? There are plenty of people at home to help you with her. Do you have to do it yourself?"
Mrs. Leon was practically on the verge of exploding with anger, "How many years have passed, and you haven’t even dated anyone? How many girls in this world are just as abnormal as you? A blind date is not about getting married right away, it’s about finding a suitable man to start with, and if things work out, then you marry!"
"Mom..."
"No buts, you must go on a date tomorrow. I’ve already arranged everything. Tomorrow at six o’clock in Kaffee’s Western Restaurant, it’s the son of Auntie Walter’s nephew, and he has just come back from abroad. He has a good education and background, and he’s handsome too. You should find something in common to talk about. They even chose a western restaurant because they know you like western food!"
"Mom, I have something to do tomorrow evening, so..."
"Don’t make excuses for me. This is non-negotiable, you have to go!"
While girls elsewhere had too many men chasing after them, her daughter didn’t even know how to date. Mrs. Leon was beside herself with frustration. Many friends had asked her if her daughter had some kind of psychological issue or if she liked women. "Senna, if you keep this up, I may not go mad, but you’re driving your mom to insanity. Years have gone, and there’s never been a man around you. At least have a romance for goodness’ sake!"
In Mrs. Leon’s memory, ever since Senna Leon had met her classmate Rio Gordon, she never had another male friend.
She had no idea about her daughter’s vehement pursuit of the younger Gordon boy during their school days. Usually, families at that age prohibited early romance, so Senna’s pursuit went unnoticed at home, especially since Rio never showed any interest in her.
"Mom, when I meet the right one, I will date. You can rest assured!"
After saying that, she intended to head upstairs, not wanting to get entangled in this issue any further. She had thought she could face Rio with calm, but after seeing him today, she realized she just couldn’t do it.
"I’m not reassured. If you don’t go on the blind date tomorrow, I will take sleeping pills and end my life. I have no face to live anyway. Butler, get me a bottle of sleeping pills!"
"Yes, madam!"
"Mom, what are you trying to do? I’ll go, okay?"
Eventually, Senna Leon could not withstand her mother’s determination.
"Senna, it’s for your own good. What kind of girl doesn’t date before getting married? You’re causing me to worry to death!"
"I know, mom. I’ll be there on time tomorrow!"
The next evening.
Senna Leon lingered at work for a long time before leaving. She deliberately delayed to make herself late, and by the time she arrived, it was already half past six. Being half an hour late would leave a bad impression, yet wouldn’t be too embarrassing since it was a friend’s introduction.
"Sorry I’m late, hello, I’m Senna Leon!"
She had expected that he’d be like those terrible men in romance novels or TV series who would start scolding her lack of punctuality. If that had been the case, she could have just walked out.
Unexpectedly, the anticipated scolding didn’t come. Instead, the man just stared at her without moving, his lips curled into an ever-deepening smile. There was no denying she was beautiful, dressed in a goose-yellow princess dress, looking ethereally lovely... if only a bit too thin. But...
It hadn’t affected the places that shouldn’t be thin at all.
"Hello, I’m Johnson Wood, it’s a pleasure to meet you!"
He then friendly extended his hand toward her, "You like goose yellow?"
She had worn a goose-yellow dress in her photo, and she was wearing it again today. Though the style was different, the color was exactly the same, right down to her bracelet and hairpin—it was clear she had a particular fondness for this color.
"I like white, but he likes..."
Senna Leon responded almost instinctively to his question, and halfway through, realized she might have said something wrong!
