Chapter 1047: Chapter 1027: A Familiar and Mysterious Character

Adrian Watkins felt a cold shiver run through his entire body, and he was immediately thrown into a state of terror. Bella Gordon’s words had already made him apprehensive, but now, faced with this scene, his fear amplified.

"Who’s there? Quit playing ghost and come out!" he yelled.

Although he was scared out of his wits, Adrian still mustered the courage to shout for his subordinates who were standing guard outside, "Come here, everyone get in here, come on!"

However... not a single one of his subordinates appeared, nor was there even an echo, as if they had vanished from the face of the earth.

This scared Adrian out of his wits; he decided then and there that this woman was not someone he could sleep with. The last time Roy Thompson had set him up and he had slept with Hanny Josh, he had been labeled as a kept man, which completely ruined his reputation. Since then, his acting career had plummeted to below that of a newcomer. This time, he had fully prepared to turn things around, yet here he was, caught up in some evil spell. What on earth was going on?

"Bella Gordon, look after yourself. I’m not sleeping with you; you might as well be a ghost!"

Unable to summon his subordinates, Adrian turned tail and ran.

Bella Gordon: "..."

What happened to the kidnap?

She had thought it would be like when she was little, being tortured almost to death, so why had it turned out like this?

"Thank God for his mercy..." Before she could even finish her sentence, the man who had just started running towards the door was swept back by Mrs. Little Dragon’s Camden Bailey. Now, even that Camden Bailey was left behind as the man was tied up like a rice dumpling and thrown in front of her.

"Senior, what is this..."

Because the situation was so bizarre, Bella couldn’t help but address her in the same way people did in martial arts TV series.

"Don’t worry, he can’t hurt you anymore. Your Brother Roy will be here within twenty minutes!"

A light, indifferent voice floated into the cave from its entrance, bringing a ghostly freshness that was sweet, refreshing, and slightly familiar. In such a moment, there was only one way to describe this voice—it was like the sound of heaven.

"Who are you? How do you know I call my husband Brother Roy? Are you a relative of mine?"

This is the instinctive reaction of a person. When rescued by a mysterious person in your most dire moments, someone who even knows your little quirks, the only possibility is that this person is a relative.

"I only heard you calling him that earlier. I didn’t know Brother Roy is your husband!"

The voice had been serene and detached but now took on a hint of unease, which could only mean one thing: the person at the entrance was lying. Anyway, since Adrian, that scoundrel, was already tied up by Camden and couldn’t move, posing no threat at all, Bella Gordon, whether out of curiosity or gratitude towards this person who rescued her, wanted to know who this woman familiar with her was!

By the sound of her voice, she seemed to be about the same age as her mother.

"Thank you for saving me. What should I call you?"

As she spoke, Bella Gordon had already gotten up and walked towards the entrance of the cave. The spot where she had been sitting was some distance from the entrance, and it took her a while to get there. Only upon reaching it did she realize that it wasn’t nightfall but actually daytime; the cave was just too dark and damp, making it seem like evening. But when Bella reached the entrance, she found it deserted. She searched around the strange areas near the entrance but didn’t see any sign of living creatures.

It was peculiar, this vast mountain without a single sound of birds or beasts. If it hadn’t been for that voice, which had been so reassuring, Bella thought she would surely have been terrified by now.

"Is there anybody out there? Is there anybody out there? Is there anybody out there?"

After she had called out three times and found that no one had answered, it took a while before she spotted a narrow, perilous path. It was the only way, and Bella Gordon thought that the person’s home must be accessed through there. However, just as she was about to walk and had barely lifted her foot, before even stepping out, her arm was forcefully grabbed by a large hand from behind. She was yanked in his direction, and Bella instinctively let out a high-pitched scream, "Ah, help, fairy, save me!"

The instinctive panic, compounded by the situation she was in, made Bella instinctively think that the person pulling her was Adrian Watkins, so without even thinking, she called out to the fairy who had just saved her for help.

"I’m sorry, baby!"

Bella’s voice was still echoing in the high air, resounding through the sky, when she was abruptly enfolded into the man’s tight embrace, his rapid and hot breaths accompanying the familiar deep, magnetic voice that entered her ears, full of sincere apology and a clear sobbing tone, "It’s my fault, I’ve given you a fright!"

"Brother Roy?"

Without even turning her head, Bella knew who it was. Only her Brother Roy would say sorry to her even when it clearly wasn’t his fault, always pampering her by bowing his head and admitting wrongdoing first, no matter the situation.

"It’s me, I’m sorry, I didn’t protect you well enough!"

"What has it got to do with you? This time it’s an accident. Being born into a wealthy family, enjoying so many desires for money, it’s natural to face more dangers than others!"

Without even looking at his face, she knew that his expression must be one of self-reproach, "However, Brother Roy, why didn’t you call out to me? You just grabbed my hand without a word, I thought it was that scoundrel Adrian Watkins, I even cried out for help!"

In such a haunting place, suddenly having a hand grab your wrist from behind is incredibly terrifying.

"With the path this narrow, and a cliff right below, what if I had called out to you and you got startled, what could I use to pull you up then?"

In such circumstances, suddenly shouting out or grabbing her hand would have equally scared her, but grabbing hold of her meant he still had a chance to react in case of an accident; shouting might have ended badly.

Clearly Bella also realized this.

"Alright, it’s my fault, I shouldn’t have said that to you, Brother Roy!"

Perhaps afraid of scaring Roy Thompson, Bella became particularly obedient and even sincerely apologized to him. The tacit understanding between them from childhood let her know that in such a situation, Roy’s mood must be even worse than hers. This time, she had overreacted, not having noticed that she was being followed, and sneaking out without bringing a bodyguard to head straight to the hospital.

"Let me see, are you injured anywhere?"

Roy Thompson seemed not to be listening to her at all, instead busily checking her body from top to bottom, "Don’t move, let me check first!"

"I’m fine, ’third time’s the charm,’ I’ve been kidnapped three times now, so my life from now on ought to be peaceful, time to enjoy good fortune!"

Bella let the man meticulously check her over, while she began to appreciate the eerie scenery. Originally, she thought this place was simply too terrifying, but Roy’s arrival suddenly made her feel that even the scenery here had become beautiful. However, when she saw the woman in white, Bella unconsciously let out another scream...

"Mommy?!"

Although she looked similar, Bella knew it obviously wasn’t the same person!
