Chapter 1044: Chapter 1024: Long Time No See!
"She’s gone, how could she just run away? Didn’t I tell you to keep a close eye on her?"
Hanny Josh screamed into the phone like a lunatic, "How could this happen? Start searching already! Where could a pregnant woman run off to? We’re on our way!"
If Bella Gordon disappeared on her watch, it wouldn’t matter whether there was an issue or not, her whole family was as good as dead,
An overwhelming fear almost completely submerged her, and if they couldn’t find the person, their last escape was utterly blocked. Not only was there nothing left to live for, but it was her whole family that was going to hell. The phone that had quickly been hung up rang again, and Hanny Josh answered it almost without thinking.
"What now? Do you know where Bella Gordon is?!"
"I’m sorry, Sister Josh, we’ve searched all over the mountain, top to bottom, and haven’t found anyone resembling Miss Gordon. However..."
"However what!"
Before the person on the other end could finish, Hanny Josh cut in, "You’ve found where she is, haven’t you?"
Roy Thompson had already agreed to her terms. At this point, any situation was better than Bella Gordon being found dead or injured. As long as nothing happened to her under Hanny’s watch, there was still a chance to turn things around, at least there was a chance to die rather than living a fate worse than death.
"No, Sister Josh, we found Adrian Watkins’s leather armor on the back of the mountain. If we’re not mistaken, it must have been Adrian Watkins who kidnapped Miss Gordon!"
"Boom!"
A thunderous shock blasted all of Hanny Josh’s senses away. Adrian Watkins emerged?
"You... you... are you sure?"
Hanny Josh was so scared that she couldn’t even speak properly anymore. Losing her only lifeline felt like this; she wasn’t as fearless in the face of death as she thought, just that she’d never encountered anything that threw her completely off balance before.
"Sister Josh, we’re certain. Our people saw Adrian Watkins’s car at the foot of the mountain. Recently, due to the issues with you, his career has taken a hit. Almost all of his shooting engagements have been terminated over the past month, and his worth has plummeted. He must have become desperate and..."
The person on the other end of the line was still reporting, but Roy Thompson no longer had the desire to continue listening. He strode away with big steps the moment he turned around. Hanny Josh hadn’t even had time to react to his departure when several well-trained individuals rushed into the doorway. They came in silently, quickly dragged a person away, and confiscated the phone before the call was even disconnected.
The moment Roy Thompson stepped out of the door, he picked up the phone to make a call, "Have you located the exact position based on what Hanny Josh said?"
For men born into Special Forces families like him, wiretapping and location tracking were always ready at hand. So, from the moment he came to find Hanny Josh, all communications had been monitored and traced. Fairy Bella Gordon was no longer in the hands of Hanny Josh; the opponent was now Adrian Watkins.
Adrian Watkins?
The damn man, he had overlooked him. Roy Thompson punched the steering wheel, unable to imagine what might happen to Bella Gordon in his hands.
"Report, Young Lord, we’ve located her at Saguaro Lake on Linden Mountain. Our people have already snuck there stealthily and are waiting for your orders!"
"Alright, now that the young lady is in their hands, if he finds out, agree to whatever conditions he sets, just do not provoke him!"
He did not know if Adrian Watkins would be the next Hanny Josh, but his only thought now was that Bella Gordon had to be safe; nothing else mattered, "I will be there as soon as I can!"
After hanging up the phone, Roy Thompson drove straight to Linden Mountain, that haunted place, the most mysterious place in Andras City. It was said that even the mixed **** dared not venture there, not only because it was dangerous, but also because it was mysterious, especially Saguaro Lake, where, it was rumored, ghosts often appeared.
Roy, of course, did not believe in such ghost stories. However, the legend only made him more worried about Bella. This girl had been a worry since childhood. Otherwise, with her sharp tongue, how could he have ever won her over? It was because she was worried that he would scare her whenever she was helpless, and that scare would make her run into his arms obediently.
What seemed like a good thing to him before, had now become his greatest concern; she had been taken to that place, and he was not by her side.
At the thought of this, Roy pressed down on the accelerator harder and harder until he finally floored it.
Atop Linden Mountain.
Bianca felt her head heavy and throbbing with pain, her eyes stinging, and it took a lot of effort just to open them, only to find...
"Where is this?"
Only after opening her eyes did she realize where she was, a deserted cave that felt both familiar and strange. Because of being kidnapped as a child, Bianca’s first reaction was that she had been kidnapped again!
She then looked down at her hands, which seemed unfettered and free, but the handbag she was carrying was gone, and the ground she leaned against was covered with dry grass. As she observed the cave, which differed from the one in her childhood kidnapping, she felt its dampness and a chill in the air, coupled with the barren surroundings, it all brought involuntary shivers to her arms.
"Is anyone there?"
Being kidnapped seemed unlikely. If it was a kidnapping, they’d have to keep some people to watch her. But how did she go from happily shopping for radiation-proof maternity clothes at the mall to waking up here?
When no one responded, Bianca pinched her cheek hard, then hissed in pain, "It still hurts, so what is this place? Can’t be that I’ve time-traveled, right?"
In recent years, time-travel dramas were all the rage; she couldn’t have ended up like the female leads in novels, mysteriously thrown into an unfamiliar environment, could she? In a cave that felt like a cave, surrounded by dry straw, she couldn’t have time-traveled back to prehistoric times, could she?
No way, she had just become pregnant with Brother Roy’s baby and had not even had the chance to be a mom—how could she leave Brother Roy?
"Pfft, even as a mom, I wouldn’t leave Brother Roy! Baby?" The thought of the child made Bianca instinctively cover her belly, trying to feel any movement from the baby inside, but regretfully she felt nothing.
"But it’s only been about twenty days; it’s not even an embryo, to feel any movement now really would be odd!"
A familiar yet strange malicious voice came from the entrance, and Bianca’s instinctive reaction was that she detested this voice. Before she had time to look up, someone was already stepping in front of her, and the next moment, her jaw was forcefully grasped.
"Miss Gordon? Mrs. Thompson? Long time no see, you’re still just as beautiful!"
