Chapter 943: Chapter 922: Fumbling in the Dark, Acting Sleazy?
Bella Gordon glanced faintly at the couple quarreling before her, then, cuddling up to Roy Thompson, sat down on the adjacent couple seat.
"Then can you guys actually watch the movie properly?" Mia Rowen was very curious about this, "Or did you not come to watch the movie but to grope around in the dark and get frisky at the cinema?"
Bella Gordon: "..."
Grope around in the dark and get frisky?
Roy Thompson: "..."
He hadn’t considered that idea before, but now that it had been mentioned, it seemed like a good one. So, when Bella Gordon said she didn’t care what movie they watched, he shouldn’t have bought tickets for this kind of youthful romance. Instead, he should’ve gone for... a horror movie!
Back during his special training in Antarctica, he always heard stories about dating experts who took their girlfriends to movies to find a chance for a cuddle and to grow closer. Roy had then thought it childish!
To love is to speak out loudly, to desire is to tell her, was there a need to be so timid and unmanly?
Only now, approaching this cinema and immersing himself in this environment, did he truly feel the atmosphere. In this dimly lit setting, following the storyline of the movie and experiencing the essence of love seemed to purify the originally improper thoughts. All that remained was a pure and simple warmth.
Yeah, horror movies were not that great, after all. This feeling of green, young love was better, as if it let one relive the youth that had slipped away. Sitting beside the person you love, watching your youthful days, listening to Mia’s words, Roy Thompson’s thoughts drifted far away, no longer concentrating on the bickering couple. His gaze lightly resting on the movie screen, he reached out to gently pull the person next to him into his embrace, his large hand covering her smaller one, fingers interlocked tightly. It wasn’t until she rested her head on his sturdy chest that he bowed his head and kissed her forehead.
His deep voice spread to her ears, devoid of ambiguity or desire, just filled with profound affection: "Bianca, it’s wonderful to have met you so early!"
"It’s my regret that I couldn’t be by your side as you grew up!"
"Thank you for loving me!"
"And thank you more, for waiting for me all these four steadfast years!"
Roy Thompson’s words fell, one by one. With each phrase, his grip around her waist tightened, that intense longing most clear to Morgan Sanders, who was closest to them. Initially shocked by Mia’s peculiar question, he was taken aback upon hearing Roy’s words.
Yes, taken aback!
Not heartache, nor sadness!
It was indeed a feeling of strangeness!
To be exact, the pain of unrequited love that should have been there was gone. As for when it vanished, he couldn’t even remember – probably after being rejected again and again, he had gradually lost even the sensation of heartache!
Or perhaps before he had time to grieve over completely losing the girl he had liked for many years, another woman had entered his life. And this woman was his lawful wife!
Thus, now seeing them so affectionate and tender with each other, he no longer felt anything!
The words by his ear came again, his senses had long since abandoned him!
What the pair was saying, he hadn’t heard, perhaps he was moved by the movie’s story, or perhaps it was the mushy atmosphere of the lovebirds beside him that affected him, Morgan Sanders’s hand reached out towards Mia Rowen uncontrollably, and by the time he realized what he was doing, his hand had already enveloped the woman’s petite palm within his own.
Suddenly aware of his own boldness, it was already too late to retract, and when he looked down, he found the woman staring back at him with lantern-like eyes sparkling brilliantly, that sensation, like a warm current, flowed into his heart and permeated his soul.
Well then... In for a penny, in for a pound.
"Ahem, ahem, got a problem with that?" Probably feeling guilty as a thief, Morgan had to clear his throat a few times before he could feign a nonchalant demeanor, "You’re my wife, what’s wrong with me touching your hand, I want to do more anyway!"
"Do more?"
Mia Rowen’s mind felt as though it had been struck by lightning. Hearing such words from that annoying simpleton Morgan was indeed a rarity, "You want to do what they’re doing?"
With that, Mia Rowen gestured with her eyes deliberately toward the couple’s seat next to the man, where Roy Thompson and Bella Gordon were kissing passionately oblivious to the world around them.
"Ahem, ahem, what’s wrong with that?"
All talk aside, he had never done anything so embarrassing, but that wasn’t the main issue. The real problem was that this wasn’t the tender and soft Mia Rowen; she had a fiery temper, and without her consent, if he tried anything, he expected there would be trouble when they got home!
As a man, when it comes to his newlywed wife, not to mention just a kiss, even rolling in the bed sheets XXO was something he took for granted, but after having chased Bella Gordon fruitlessly for so many years, and Mia Rowen being Bella Gordon’s best friend, in front of her, he felt somewhat unable to lift his head in pride.
He always felt Mia Rowen looked down on him—after all, he couldn’t win the heart of the one he fancied, yet married her, and still wanted something more with her, such a thought in itself was rather vile!
It was an anxious subject, yet he declared it confidently, his neck stiffened.
What he didn’t expect was the woman’s response, which greatly surprised him. Contrary to the anticipated aggressive rant of "You damn beast, what gives you the right," that fitted Mia Rowen’s temperament, there was instead—
"Right, nothing’s wrong with that!" Mia Rowen nodded seriously, her eyes shimmering with a chillingly bright mirth, "But not here, let’s talk about it when we get home!"
The lovey-dovey couples in the cinema were sharing genuine affection; his childish act, devoid of love and merely performed to assert his dominance, was unworthy of enactment in the cinema that showcased pure love stories!
Morgan Sanders couldn’t utter a single word for a long while, only tightening his grip on her hand again and again, determined not to let go.
"Childish!"
Mia Rowen dropped just those two words, and said no more, yet her heart had never felt so warm before, even if he was just expressing his machismo, or trying to maintain his image in front of the woman he liked, to her, it didn’t matter!
After the movie, it was Bella Gordon who suggested they go eat at the food stalls in front of the school, Morgan initially refused, but Mia Rowen was excited to go; Roy, of course, complied with his woman’s wishes—whatever she wanted!
