Chapter 423: A Familiar Acquaintance

"Since I don’t have a talisman, I could only improvise." The monk nodded seeing the man’s swelling face. "It’s a symbol to ward off bad luck. The bad luck spirits will be scared when their see your faces. No need to thank me." The monk flicked off his sleeves and returned to his spot.

"Argh! This Old man!" The men clenched their fists out of rage. "Who told you that you can run off after hurting us! I’ll return to your slap a hundredfold!"

Jun Chang feared for the monk in case the other side ganged up on him and mustered his strength to speak. "We’re going to resume work. It’s better to reserve energy than fighting."

The monk frowned and secretly sent a strand of Dao Energy onto the Jun Chang’s body but only alleviated the symptoms and didn’t cure the root cause.

"Shut up!" The men shouted.

But before a fight broke out, the door was again opened, and a woman in clean clothes stepped in.

"Be quiet! My head hurts from your shouts." The woman said. She pressed her temples in irritation.

The moment the captives saw the woman, their eyes spewed with anger. If not for the guards equipped with bronze gears behind her, they would have pounced and tear her to pieces.

Jun Chang was also thinking the same thing.

If it wasn’t for her, he and Junjie wouldn’t be caught. He deeply regretted showing kindness.

The woman clicked her tongue from their glares and threatened them, "Do you not want your eyes anymore? I can gouge them for you."

The guards behind raised their weapons.

Powerless, the captives gave up, lowered their gazes and could swallow their grievance except for one person, Jun Chang.

The woman chuckled and made a remark, "You’re lucky you got a pretty face otherwise I’ll never forgive that insolent stare. Anyway, throw the new ones inside."

"These are your new friends. I hoped you can get along." The woman threw her had back, let out a villainous laugh before she turned around and left, signaling the guards bring in the new captives.

Jun Chang looked at the three old men who appear to be in their late fifties clad in dirty white quality gears being pushed and kicked to the ground. The three seemed to be knocked out.

Their evil had no bounds. They didn’t even spare these elder people.

Jun Chang was too weak to help them.

"You’ll start working in twenty minutes." The guards said before closing the door.

The instance the guards left, one of the old men rushed towards Jun Chang, bawled his eyes out, and cried, "Big Brother! I missed you so much!"

Jun Chang was dumbfounded and tried to push the sentimental elder away but his measly strength couldn’t stop the old man and his shoulder was soon wet.

"Grandpa, I think you’re mistaken-"

"Brother, it’s me Junjie. Someone helped me disguise." Junjie disguised as the old man whispered in his brother’s ears.

Jun Chang was stunned. It’s indeed his brother’s voice but how can he disguised as an older man perfectly. He can’t find any faults. Is this really Junjie?

"Brother, you’re temperature is burning! I knew it. Why did you hide it from me?" Junjie’s cries became louder.

"It’s just trivial matter. Why did you go back here? You could just run away and leave me." Jun Chang was a little bit angry. It was only Junjie’s only chance. Though, he admitted that he appreciated his brother’s thoughts.

"How could you say that? I won’t leave you no matter what." Junjie said.

The mushy dramatic scene continued for another minute.

Meanwhile, Chunhua was surprised. She didn’t expect to meet an acquaintance here. It’s the monk that she had a heart-to-heart talk back in the reward world.

Suddenly, she saw the some of the captives stood up and confronted the monk.

"Hey Old Man, don’t expect that I’ll the matter slide. Seize him!"

The room was suddenly filled with muffled screams.

The monk who was ready for a brawl was shocked and unconsciously retreated to a corner watching the men get beat up.

When the time for work arrived, the guards opened the door and were confused as to why half of the men’s faces were swelling and full of bruises.

When these men caught sight of the elders, they were shaking like a leaf.

The words of the monk rang in their ears.

You’ll face a bloody disaster today.

Chunhua used her enhanced eyesight to find out if there are other areas keeping captives but discovered something else.

In the center of the territory where the Landowner’s House was located, she saw two black cloaked figures talking to a white haired old man.

One of the two wearing black cloaks handed something to the old man.

She narrowed her eyes, wanting to see what it was but one of the figures turned it heads and looked at her direction.

Chunhua tear her gaze away and whispered to Haoran.

"A’Ran, there are two liches in this place."

Haoran unconsciously inched closer to her. "Are they near? Did they discover our cover?"

"No, I don’t think so. They are talking with someone. They seem to be in a middle of a deal." Chunhua regretted that she couldn’t hear them.

Fortunately, they were near the quarry.

"I’ll cover you." Haoran said.

Chunhua nodded.

"This will be your working place. Don’t dally anymore and start working."

Chunhua entered the cave, and headed for the corner to teleport.

Haoran waited for Chunhua to come back.

Haoran raised his pickaxe. The sleeve of his robe rolled down and revealed the Buddhist beads that were turning gray.

"Zurui." He called out his brother’s name.

Little Zhou dodged the oncoming whip but the ends of it still hit her back leaving a huge gash. The pain akin to her skin being burned alive was tormenting.

This succubus is so strong. Her attacks barely land a scratch.

"Ji!" (Teacher! Hold on!) Little Ginseng quickly cast a healing spell on the wound.

Little Mantou quickly came to Little Zhou’s side and Little Lotus cast a spell, "Kya!" (Ice Prison)

Half of the succubus’ body was frozen with ice but it didn’t tamper the languid smile on the Succubus’ lips. Black Abysmal flames slowly melted the ice prison.

Little Lotus, Little Mantou, Little Ginseng and Little Zhou retreated a couple of steps.

(A/N: I should stop naming the summons ’Little’.)

"That healing spell is amazing. You don’t even need to chant and can even dispel the bleeding de-buff. What I do? I am torn between giving you to Uncle and eating you myself. If I eat you, can I gained a super recovery ability? Why don’t we try it?"

The Succubus’ eyes turned sharp. She drew her whip towards the Little Ginseng.

Little Zhou quickly hugged the little radish and Little Mantou wanted to flick the whip away with his claws but the two were too late.

The whip coiled around the ginseng and he was sent flying towards the Succubus’ mouth.

Little Zhou’s face paled.

"Chirp Chirp!" (Junior Brother is in trouble!)

"Ji ji ji!" (Stinky Witch! You dare covet my pristine body!)

Little Mantou and Little Lotus were relieved. They forgot about that skill.

The Succubus looked at the giant ginseng’s bum about to squash her: F*ck.
