Chapter 356: The Cry of a Phoenix
Chapter 356: The Cry of a Phoenix
After touching the tiny thing in the golem, he suddenly collapsed! The Spirit of Sea knows how terrified he was. After all, the Boss valued her mate a lot!
Everyone quickly hopped inside the Clam’s bed and went to check on Chef Long worriedly.
Chunhua handed the torch to Little Lotus.
Because Chef Long’s face was facing down, they needed to turn him over.
Once they turned over Chef Long, they eye widen when it landed on the trickle of blood on the corner of his lips and the conspicuous red stains on his nape and chest.
Everyone cried out of shock.
"Kya!" (I told you something bad happened!)
"Ji ji ji!" (You jinxed it!)
Chunhua quickly grabbed the man’s right wrist and sent a strand of qi inside and she stiffened once she saw Chef Long’s body was in a mess, and there was large amount of qi chaotically rampaging in his body!
Chef Long didn’t practice cultivation and without meridians, he would not be able control them.
"What happened? Who did this?" Chunhua’s voice was grim and her eyes were chilly causing shivers on Clammy’s shells.
The foodie crew were also cracking their knuckles.
"Boss, it’s not me! I’m innocent!" Clammy trembled under Boss’s gaze and instinctively leaned back. It was the first time he had seen her angry to this extent. Clammy hurriedly narrated what happened.
"I’m sorry." Chunhua retracted her dark gaze and apologized. Her emotions got out of control. She tried to absorb the qi but once she tried to send hers, her qi was sucked in instead.
She quickly withdrew her hand but in that short moment a tenth of her qi reserve was gone.
The man groaned and vomited blood.
"Little Ginseng, help me." Chunhua anxiously said.
"Ji ji ji!" (Okay!) Little Ginseng and her tried to heal the injuries but Haoran once again vomited blood.
Everyone stiffened.
Chunhua tried all sorts of way but for some unknown reason her qi was sucked in the moment she tried to touched the strands of those rampaging qi.
"Master! Do something!" Mantou tugged the corner of her sleeves, and the others followed suit thinking that their powerful Master had a way.
But Chunhua’s mind was blank and she didn’t what to do, "I don’t know..."
She didn’t know alchemy or any medicine. Cultivators repair their body through qi but if Chef Long can’t take any, then how is he supposed to save him?
Wait, there’s still Priestess Shivani!
Chunhua brought Chef’s body to Shivani but even the latter was unable to anything, "It’s strange. He just absorbed my mana but my healing spell didn’t work."

[Ice Ship, Temporary Research Room]
"Ron, I’ve brought you dinner. You have been in that for too long. At least come out for a short while." Rita greeted the two nymphs standing at the door.
The nymphs let her in.
Rita saw Ron near the table, crouching over. He didn’t seem to hear her call and was focused on his work.
"Oh dear no..." Ron had finished dismantling and saw a thing attached to the orb.
"What is it?"
"It’s a time bomb."
And to think the ocean floor was full of it. This is bad.
Rita gasped.
----
[Ice Ship, Interrogation Room]
The Halfling Mages regained consciousness and when they saw the layout of the room, they struggled and let out muffled shouts.
Those nymphs stationed nearby heard them.
It was at this time that Shana remembered the captives and chose to check on them.
"They’re awake." A nymph reported to Shana.
Shana came in and when the Halfling mage saw her, she instantly moved her head and her expression was of anxiousness, fear, and desperation.
Shana conjured a water blade and placed it near the Halfling mage’s neck, before taking out the hemp fabric stuffed in her mouth. "Say it!"
The Halfling mage anxiously asked, "What time is it?!"
Shana was baffled why the captive inquired for the time but she still answered, "Night time."
Upon hearing Shana’s answer, the Halfling Mage had a look of horror and immediately said, "We need to get out of the sea! It’s going to blow up!"
Their assignment was supposed to get these nymphs but in the end they failed their mission and were unable to ride the Space Ship their Master promised.
Could Master already leave this world?!
Oh no, they’ll die in this rate.
The Halfling mage suddenly recalled the nymph’s ship that can sail in the sky, all hope is not lost!
Shana deepened the blade on the Halfling Mage, extorting the truth, "What do you mean?"
The Halfling Mage explained.
The more Shana listened, the more she was livid.
At the end of the talk, she punched the Halfling Mage back to sleep before bolting out of the door where she bumped into Halfling named Ron and Rita.
Remembering Thalassa came with them, her lips tilted downwards.
When Ron saw her, he instantly reported his findings.
Shana let him follow her to Shivani who was inside her room talking to the Champion.
On the priestess’ bed was an unconscious man, the Champion’s Companion, soaked in blood.
The three stood rooted on the spot.
Oh my, what happened to him?
Shivani sensed their presence and turned around.
Shivani apologized helplessly to Chunhua and bowed. Her expression was of sadness. "I’m sorry, Champion. I couldn’t be of any help."
Since the matter was of absolute importance, Shana immediately relayed the bad news.
"Is this true?" Shivani turned to Ron.
"It is. You better steer the ship as far away from the sea! We only have a few minutes left!" Ron nodded and his expression was grave.
Shivani’s eyes darted on the Champion and the three for a few seconds, before ultimately going up.
She quickly had everyone inside including Clammy as she tried to sail into the sky.
Since the flying sail was bound to her, she needed to be the one to control it which made her think, if she ends up falling into that lava pool, will all the souls boarding in the Ice Ship survived?
Just thinking about it made her shiver.
Triton had just came back from his trip of inspecting the sealing array for the last time.
As a weapon spirit, he knew he will have to follow the kid from now on.
Although, he wouldn’t be able to see this place, maybe he’ll come back in the future.
----
Drops of hot tears fell from the corner of Chunhua’s eyes and she could only stare at the man’s pale face.
His forehead had creases and full of beads of sweat. Sounds of grunts, moans and groans left his mouth and each of it hammered Chunhua’s heart with guilt.
For the first time, she felt powerless. She regretted not taking her Master’s words seriously. "Chef Long, I’m so sorry..."
Seeing her crying, the others were alarmed.
"Master, Is Chef Long going to die?" Mantou asked in a trembling voice.
The faces of the rest of the foodie crew sunk.
"He won’t! I’ll think of a way!" Chunhua wiped her tears harshly and called the system.
[System Notification: ’We’ can help but do something for ’us’.]
Chunhua’s hope was reignited. "What is it?"
[System Notification: Side Mission...]
When Chunhua saw the mission, she frowned deeply but still agreed. "Okay."
----
The ship soared with unprecedented speed just before the premediated time of the bombs exploded destroying the fissures and widening the gap.
There was a deafening sound and the volcano in the Atlantis City was destroyed.
Pillars of fire one would see during a fire storm shot to the sky and everyone heard the cry of a phoenix.
Everyone rubbed their ears, unsure if they heard it wrong.
Triton who just floated to decks stiffened.
Nikolai who was resting in his room woken up.
And Chunhua took out the pots and pans full of buff food.
"Don’t worry Chef Long, I’ll get us out of here alive."
