She only heard Chef Long said, "You’ve worked hard last night. I’ll take care of these. Eat this first. I’ll let you taste the jams shortly."

Initially she thought that Chef Long found her meddlesome but it seems he was just worried for her well-being. Li Chunhua stopped sulking and nodded.

She tossed the little fruits on her mouth and instantly liked them. The sweet and soft acidity were balanced and she found herself lost in their flavors.

Seeing the clouds of sadness dispersing from her eyes, Long Haoran focused on his works.

Since it was an experiment, Long Haoran only made two portion of each.

"I can. Vegetables can be dried and rehydrated when you need to cook them. Meat can be smoked, dried, or grind and seasoned to make sausages. We also have century eggs..." Long Haoran elaborated while he sliced a loaf of bread for Xiao Hua into four parts and slathered each with different jams.

Li Chunhua was itching to try but she realized that Chef Long after spending hard work didn’t get to have a taste.

Therefore, she returned plate to him, "Chef Long, you should try them too. It’s not fair if I’m the only one who eats."

The man who was planning on watching her eat was startled instead.

Long Haoran did not have a sweet tooth. His preference lean more towards the rich tea but her gaze full of anticipation and urging seem to have some compelling power prompting his finger to move on its own and brought the water chestnut bread to his mouth.

He took a small bite and the taste was nutty, honey, cognac, and vanilla flavor spread on his mouth. He finished the piece in three more bites.

"How was it?" Li Chunhua leaned forward and asked the question.

Long Haoran instinctively leaned back and gave her the plate instead. "Have a taste."

Li Chunhua gulped and took the one with the cranberries. The tartness and sweetness was very addicting. It only took her a few seconds to devour it. That was so good. Chef Long’s class is enviable.

She eyed the jars. No Baozi, don’t be too greedy! She forced herself to look elsewhere and be contented.

Long Haoran’s attention was fixated on the tiny red stain on the corner of her lips. The expression swimming in his eyes became a bit heavy.

"Chef Long, it’s so delicious -"Li Chunhua couldn’t finish her words when she felt a something touch her face. She lifted her chin and her blue orbs collided with a pair of similar shade.

Long Haoran finger with its tip smeared with a red stain paused in midair after realizing his behavior and he was overwhelmed with a strange feeling after being caught while doing a rogue behavior.

When Long Haoran’s face was beginning to heat up, there was a screeching sound of the door being opened.

"Help me make pickles." The Elf with a large bamboo basket on his back full of classless edible plants arrived indirectly helping Long Haoran to escape the predicament.

Li Chunhua whipped her head towards the door and when she saw Brother Siri. She rose from the seat and took the basket from him. "Brother Siri, let me carry it."

With Xiao Hua’s departure, Long Haoran quickly took his trembling hand and wiped his finger on his pink apron but the memories unlike the stain couldn’t be erased. His eyes drifted to his finger again.

Due Siri’s height advantage he was able to see past his Master’s head and noticed the staring absentmindedly on his finger for a second before the latter cleaned the table.

The Elf shrugged the sprouting thought off his head.

"Brother Siri, how do we make pickles?" Li Chunhua brought the bamboo basket in the table.

"It’s simple but first we need containers like earthen pickle jars..." Siri enumerated the things they needed like vinegar, garlic, soy sauce, salt. sugar, hot chilis and other spices. He saw a recipe in the cookbook but the problem was with the amount of vegetables they had, the ingredients left at the warehouse would not be enough.

Siri addressed this problem and Li Chunhua filled the kitchen with the ingredients he needed.

Siri and Long Haoran found themselves blinking and staring at them.

"Right, Brother Siri, I have some new seeds for you and fertilizer too." Li Chunhua suddenly remembered her loots.

"I’ll be back." Li Chunhua had to go out first to tend her livestock and replenished the warehouse.
