Chapter 206: Making Bandages
Everyone’s imagination’s run wild and the bullet screen was filled with yet another set of different stories about Baozi being a shaman, or someone plagued by peach blossom ghosts, or had encountered ghost type monsters.
(Peach Blossom is love debts, suitors, and admirers.)
Li Chunhua sat on the stone steps of the summoning platform while making transactions. She was able to buy 123 jades of different designs and colors in exchanged for construction materials and IOUs.
Some wiser players wanted to exchange their jades for the weapons. Li Chunhua wrote down their names in a piece of paper.
Sadly, no one trade the paper but only peach woods. Li Chunhua closed the tab after exchanging 218 units of it. Tomorrow, she’ll ask Brother Siri how to make paper out of these.
[You’ve received a message from Green Thumb.]
Li Chunhua opened the message that has a photo of a girl attached.
[Green Thumb]: Baozi, do you have any medicine or Items that can recover HP? I will trade all my supplies. I badly needed it.
There is but without a witch hazel, she couldn’t make bandages. She also was not capable of long-distance healing.
[Baozi]: I do have but the materials needed are not complete.
The professor looked down at the young female wounded on the right shoulder, lying on the kang bed, moaning in pain, and whose appearance closely resembled a human except for the two cat ears protruding on top of her soaked hair.
The young female opened her eyes laboriously and weakly spoke, "Master, Miao Miao might not last long. You need to be careful from now on."
The professor approached the bed and cried.
[Native name: Miao Miao (HP: 60/400)
Profession: Archer
Level: 6
Status Ailments: Heavily Injured, Bleeding]
To upgrade the territory, he needed to kill at least three more monsters, and because of his slow reflexes, Miao Miao blocked the attack and suffered in his stead.
(A/N: I’m not crying. I’m just slicing onions.)
[Green Thumb]: What is it Baozi? Tell me and I’ll look for it in the trade market.
The only items he had on his inventory were hemostatic herbs, copper coins, woods, stones food supplies, pickled vegetables, and low quality equipment.
[Baozi]: It’s witch hazel. If you can find it then I can make bandage for you.
Witch Hazel?
He stopped crying and quickly sent the all the Witch Hazel his native got this morning according to his instructions. This was supposed to be used in the monster tide. He tried to apply them to the girl wounds but they were not working at all. The system only said his formula can only be used on small wounds.
[Green Thumb]: I got them.
[You’ve got 56 units of Witch Hazel.]
Li Chunhua was startled. Green Thumb was so lucky.
[Baozi]: Hold on.
The professor regained hope and told the young female to stay awake because medicine is coming while pressing on the wound.
Miao Miao nodded with difficulty.
Li Chunhua headed to warehouse and just in time to bump into Chef Long who was also storing something in the warehouse shelves.
"Xiao Hua?" Long Haoran called.
"Oh, Chef Long." Li Chunhua only gave him brief glance before getting some cotton, linen, and a sewing set from the warehouse.
"What is it?" Long Haoran sensed her urgency and asked.
"There’s someone who needs bandages and I need to go to Aunt He and asked her help to sew. My embroidery skill is that of a three year old." Li Chunhua explained, slightly embarrassed. She was afraid that the healing effects of the bandages will be affected and decided to seek help from those who kenw better.
Sew Bandages?
"Give it to me." Long Haoran extended his hand.
Li Chunhua blinked before stammering, "Chef Long, you know how to sew?"
Long Haoran nodded. He and Zurui were orphans and they had to fend for themselves because they couldn’t afford new clothes, Long Haoran had to learn from a kind grandma about sewing to mend the holes and tears of their old clothes.
"That’s great Chef Long, there is a workshop in the tailoring shop. I’ll take you there." Li Chunhua grabbed Long Haoran’s hand and led him to the tailoring shop.
Long Haoran’s eyes brushed over the hand holding his wrist before looking ahead at the unfamiliar building.
Two minutes later, inside the work shop illuminated by torches and flash lights, Long Haoran was sitting on the behind the desk. Li Chunhua had to fetch the blueprints from the Aunties.
"I got it." Li Chunhua opened the door and gave Long Haoran the two blueprints and witch hazels.
"Chef Long, there’s someone who’s badly injured and needed treatment fast." Li Chunhua hurriedly spoke, showing the picture, before dragging a chair to seat opposite of Long Haoran.
Long Haoran didn’t waste any more time. He studied the blueprints for a few seconds before spreading the linen fabric on the table. "Shears."
Li Chunhua stood up and went to get shears on the drawers.
Long Haoran folded the fabrics in the required length and width before cutting them in uniform sizes. "Crush the yellow flowers." He spoke and Li Chunhua followed his words.
Long Haoran looked at the odd embroidery patterns on the edges of bandage that seems out of place. Following this stitch might trigger the healing spell.
Li Chunhua had also noticed it and even grimaced. "So complicated. The system had no regard for people who only knew one line stitching."
The edges of Long Haoran’s lips curled, amused at her words before sewing the pattern on the linen, only leaving a small hole to stuff the witch hazel.
Long Haoran’s hands dexterously moved for the span of 3 minutes attracting Li Chunhua’s attention until he completely replicated the pattern.
Li Chunhua also finished her task and gave it to Chef Long.
Long Haoran inserted the crush flowers inside before handing it to Li Chunhua.
Li Chunhua sent it to Green Thumb.
[Baozi]: See if it works.
The professor looked at the simple sewn bandage carrying the medicinal scent hazel.
He was doubtful if this could save the little girl but when Miao Miao groaned in pain again, he anxiously placed the bandage on the wound carefully and a second after Miao Miao’s HP increased by 30, the bleeding de-buff disappeared, and the bandage also vanished.
[HP +30]
"Praise the Heavens!" The professor cried in joy and thanked Baozi in the chat profusely.
[Baozi]: No need. It was a transaction. I’ll take your witch hazel and give you 8 more bandages.
[Green Thumb]: No problem for me. But can I exchange some more tomorrow and for the weapons too?
[Baozi]: You can.
The professor smiled kindly and looked at Miao Miao whose state became better.
[Green Thumb]: Thank you so much.
Li Chunhua was still crushing the witch hazel using the spoon when she received the good news that the bandages worked. "Chef Long, it was successful. You’re too skilled. If it was me, it might take all day for me to sew one."
"It’s not that hard. If you like, I can teach you." Long Haoran looked at her while saying the words.
"Then, alright. After the tide, teach me." In this way, she can sew her dudu. She was not used to the brassier. There should be some silk or other breathable fabric in the warehouse.
Long Haoran retrieved his gaze from her and quickly finished five more sets.
Li Chunhua sent them to Green Thumb right away.
[Baozi]: I’ll sent the rest later or tomorrow.
[Green Thumb]: Alright.
Miao Miao was out of danger and only needed some rest. The little girl was sleeping soundly. The professor vowed to repay Baozi in some way.
With the success of the bandage, Li Chunhua had another hole card. Little Ginseng might have a healing skill but it had cooldowns and the tide would attack from all sides. Little Ginseng could not split himself to appear on all four corners at the same time.
"Chef Long, take some for your brother." Li Chunhua spoke.
"Then, thank you." Long Haoran only took 10 witch hazels and 5 units of linen.
"Landowner Baozi, Aunt Su had finished drying the first batch of leather. Do you want to see it?" Aunt He knocked on the door.
Already?
Li Chunhua excitedly stood up and opened the door. "Chef Long, do you want to come along?"
Leather?
Could it be for making equipment?
Long Haoran was curious and nodded.
(A/N: As you may have noticed, I refrain from including the bullet screen of Global Chat anymore because someone complained that it was irrelevant and I took it in consideration. (´._.`) )
