Chapter 144: Ten Thousand Autumns, Meng Chu

The transactions concluded with Li Chunhua happily obtaining 124 cans of Happy Fat Water. Her impression of Uncle Supplier raised several notches with her cravings of this ultimate bubbly sweet goodness satisfied. This would be perfect with a Hot Pot!

She shot a glance to Chef Long, wondering when it will turn true. Sadly, they lacked ice.

Meanwhile, Meng Chu was also very happy with the supplies he got. Baozi was still generous as ever. He only mentioned equipment, cold gear, and food and the other side send him 50 units of cotton, 45 kgs of food and 50 pieces of white-quality equipment.

He swallowed his saliva and wiped his sweat, trembling from the many supplies. Such a rich player, if ever he meets Baozi in person, he will switch territories without hesitation.

He called some people to deliver these supplies to the temporary warehouse which was just a small cabin they build with shelves and wooden crates.

The people although shocked and curious stored them inside the warehouse, bypassing Aunt He and the five other women who were weaving.

"Is that cotton?" Aunt He craned her neck and inquired.

"Yes, Aunt He." One of the couriers answered.

Aunt He stood and approached them. When she confirmed it was indeed cotton, she was pleased and decided to stuff their clothes with cotton later in afternoon.

The people carried on with their task and every time they carried the supplies and equipment the women’s eyes widened.

One couldn’t help but asked, "Young man, where did you get these supplies?"

"Oh, it was Uncle Meng. Did you remember why he insisted on buying and forbidding us to drink the Happy Fat Water we looted? He traded of them for these."

The women looked at each other in bewilderment.

----

Unbeknown to the duo Li Chunhua and Long Haoran, the area they were trudging was called Forbidden Zone and hadn’t been explored deeply by other players.

The nearest team stationed was five hundred meters away from the boundary of the forbidden zone, had been monitoring the periphery by sending out scouts every three hours. There were also single players nearby but they were very cautious not to take a detour to this place.

Since their current Levels were around 3-4, they don’t have the courage to venture deep and could only harvest the resources on the boundary which was shallow creek.

This was also their water source but the resources were few. At most in a day when the resources refreshed, they could get [Wild Vegetable X6], [Hemp Plant X5], [Flax X4], [Wild Berries X 12], [Beginner Wood X 20] and sometimes if they’re lucky, they could kill weak fish monsters in the creek for meat.

But a strange thing happen this late morning, the forbidden zone was quiet unlike the previous days where one could hear many bestial sounds echoing from the dense woods.

One of the scouts was brave enough and surveyed fifty meters deep but he met no monsters. He crossed another 50 meters and not one attack him. He also spotted several variety wild vegetables in some areas and quickly plucked them.

[You’ve got Tiny Shroods Leaf...+20]

[You’ve got Grain Rain...+35]

[You’ve got Flower-Face Vegies...+45]

The young man was thrilled and went back, sharing the news of his harvest to his co-scouts. They were also surprised and smiled. These could feed them for at least 5 days.

Thus, in great joy and astonishment, they reported this finding back to the team.

"Nephew, what you say is really true?" A man whose drenched in sweat and was in the middle of chopping the wood for later use. The sleeves of a faded cotton grey jacket were tied around his waist, along with a red bull cap.

It was Ten Thousand Autumns, Meng Chu whom Li Chunhua and Long Haoran had transacted minutes ago.

"Yes Uncle!" Then the young man showed the wild vegetables he gained.

Meng Chu finally believed him and immediately prepared to set off. This type of opportunity was not to be wasted.

"Bring them to the aunties and have them cooked it for lunch." Meng Chu said.

The young man nodded and walked towards the one of the huts where a group of middle-aged women and young women were weaving grass crafts and bamboo strips into hats and ponchos to be sold in the trade market.

This was in demand because of the rain and each hat was sold for five units of wood/ two units of bamboo/ 500g of food. The poncho was much expensive for 8 units of wood/ four units of bamboo and 1kg of food. After all it takes a longer time to weave.

These women were saved and contributed to the team by doing the chores, weaving and cooking.

"Auntie He, I’ve got new vegetables." One of the middle-aged women with slightly chubby build wiped her hands on her coarse apron and stood up.

"Come here. Let me see." Auntie He beckoned him over. The young hurriedly walked and took the vegetable out.

"Good boy!" Auntie gave him a pat before taking the vegetables to the temporary kitchen. A stove made from drying clay and a large flat stone as a pan.

Aunt He gathered five small fishes, seven cans of ham, one kilogram of rice, flour, mushrooms, oil, packs of noodles, pepper, and salt from the public warehouse before cooking.

She was slightly tearing up, after seeing the warehouse was full of supplies. Composing herself, she lit the firewood and started chopping the vegetables before frying the ham and the fishes.

The scent of the cooked food wafted under everyone’s noses, wetting their mouths including Meng Chu’s group gathering on the entrance.

They were unaware that this day would be an eventful one.

Same as the young man, Long Haoran also found the same ingredients. The tiny Shroods leaf looked like a Malantou, used for sauteéing.

The Grain Rain resembled a cedar. It had an overpowering smell and can be paired with rice porridge as a pickled side dish.

While the flower-face is a shepherd’s purse suitable to be cooked with eggs.

Due to her speed of gathering, Li Chunhua was able to forage half of the mountain by lunch time. Long Haoran after successfully finding three of the five necessary ingredients [Nicoterna: First-Class], [Pyrethum: First-Class], and [Elliptica: First-Class] for a pesticide, the last two were minerals which he hadn’t found.

(A/N: The abovementioned are plant-derived pesticide components and there are also mineral- derived. I only tweaked their name a bit.)

He searched for a place they could rest first, and where he could cook.

It was besides the shallow creek where level 1-2 monsters silver scaled fishes were leaping lively. They were trying to bite him. He killed 12 fishes [Piranha Level 1- (HP: 15/15)] by slapping the daylights out of them, instant K.O. Notifications rang in his ears.

(Little Baozi: Thanks for the gift dear SauceofSuccess and LotusLin.(^∀^●)ノシ Pics in the comment section.)
