Chapter 133: Attempting to make a Defensive Array (1)
The pen Li Chunhua made was just a small enclosure of wooden logs planted on the ground without a gap in between, which is half a meter in height, 5 meters in length, and 4 meters in width, just enough space for her crocs to crawl and plan for their future lives of daily sheeping conversion.
There was no entrance built, and one needed to jump over before they could get in and out.
The animal whisperer hadn’t finished with her chanting job. After persuading the crocs to be vegan, it was time to talk about rules, punishments, and rewards. She listed three things for the crocs to be mindful of.
Rule No. 1: Don’t go out of the pen. If they did, they would be on the grill. If they were obedient, they would have two times the amount of grass fodder or fresh leaves added to their next meal.
Rule No. 2: Don’t harm a single living being inside the territory. If they did, they would become a handbag and wallet immediately. If they were obedient, the same rewards would apply, and they would be given a blanket after a week of being well-behaved.
Rule no. 3 and the most important rule: Don’t be noisy at night because they might be beaten by meteor canvas shoes suddenly falling out of nowhere and bite wounds from someone’s sleepwalking. If they were obedient, the same rewards would apply, and they would have an additional sleeping mask.
"Do you understand? Is there any question? Just bleat meh once and I will repeat it again. If you understood, bleat twice." Li Chunhua flashed the crocs with a ’gentle’ smile.
The crocs that listened to her rewards and didn’t find anything that benefited them: "..."
"Why are you so quiet?"
"Meh. Meh. Meh. Meh." The two crocs immediately bellowed low and quick, afraid to anger the crazy animal whisperer.
"Good. Good. Here is your reward and welcoming gift."
A small hill of green leaves piled up in the pen, and the crocs’ mehs were mixed with low cries.
Seeing that her job was done, she jumped out of the pen and was greeted by spectators who were watching her nutjob deeds since she brought the crocs inside.
Long Haoran was among them, but his reaction was milder because he was already accustomed to the woman’s weirdness.
In his hands were the two hens that needed nests. It was not his territory, and so he needed permission before he could use any space.
"What are you looking at?" Li Chunhua asked, and the crowd, including the pixie, immediately dispersed, sensing her tone was not right, albeit they would never forget this event.
Fern and the others quickly purchased their supplies, but they also bought a weapon, and they all pooled their points on buying hammers, nails, and units of wood before going back to their hut in a hurried manner.
The moment all the natives stepped inside, one could hear the sound of hammering, and the door of the hut was shaking.
Li Chunhua couldn’t help but appreciate the native’s diligence. "Even at home, they didn’t rest and still worked hard," unlike her, who only moves when food gets involved.
Long Haoran: "..." I’m tired. Let her misunderstand.
One of the chickens crowed, attracting the animal whisperer’s attention. "Chef Long, guys, what do chickens eat?"
"Mealworms, grains, crickets, grass, bread, fresh fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens. They can eat cooked food too." Long Haoran shared the knowledge he knew.
(A/N: Chickens can really eat cooked food!)
Li Chunhua heaved a huge sigh of relief. Thankfully, they didn’t need meat to grow. Two half-meter carton boxes materialized on the ground.
Long Haoran’s eyelashes quivered when he saw it was filled with supplies. The gang leader tossed the contents in her inventory space, and once they were empty, she took out some papers and shredded them into strips as an alternative to hay.
Long Haoran placed the chickens in both boxes. The chickens settled down.
Now the question was: Where will the chicken live?
Li Chunhua approached the crocs’ pen, and the chicken jumped out and wanted to escape. Thus, she could only bring them inside the main residence and place them in the living room beside the foot of the lounge chair.
She planned to build another pen next to the greenhouse tomorrow.
Long Haoran, after seeing that the time for dinner was fast approaching, entered the kitchen and fulfilled his kitchen duties.
Ten pounds of the crocs’ fatty meat were placed on the table, along with two rainbow-colored eggs, a bag of flour, gallons of water, and ginseng, along with soy sauce, oil, and other seasonings.
The man rolled his sleeves and decided on tonight’s menu: egg-fried rice, Peking Crocs chops, gua bao, and Dan Dan noodles without chili.
(A/N: food pictures in the comment section!)
The flame on the stove was raging. Sizzling sounds echoed in the kitchen as Long Haoran started cooking.
Li Chunhua, who was currently sitting on her knees, making an array out of the jade, was disturbed by the scent. Her hands shook, and one of the inscriptions slanted.
The jade butterfly-studded earring emitted a soft glow, and a screen displayed its effects.
[Unnamed Equipment: Bronze-Grade
-Can block 100 points of physical and magical attacks at least once a day. [To activate, the user only needs to chant a food’s name.]
Li Chunhua: This is...so cool!
[The player had made the equipment. Please input the name.]
Oh!
Li Chunhua thought of a name that sounds powerful.
However, a porky scent drifted under her nose, making her absentminded, and her lips mumbled, "Isn’t this the smell of braised pork?"
[The players have successfully named the equipment. Due to its long name, the system shortened it for convenience.]
[Braised Pork: Bronze-Grade]
Li Chunhua: "..."

In front of the warehouse, Pixie Elga sprawled her upper body on the table and sobbed weakly. Her hands were tired all day.
The elf appeared in front of her and took the book, recording the journal entries. He examined the handwritten notes and praised her. "Good job..."
Elga was energized by that and wanted to ask for a day’s leave tomorrow.
"Tomorrow, we’re going to make a trial balance." The elf closed the book before saying his plans.
The pixie slumped on the table in depression.
After Siri’s routine inspection of the farm, defense wall, and other parts of the territory, the Elf went to list down the units of ores and irons that have been mined today, as well as the number of bamboo and clay pipes.
Clay pipes are the only option available now since they lack metal.
So much for that, the half-finished clay pipes were stored inside the shelves of the warehouse.
[Three-meter bamboo pipes—35 units]
[One and a half-foot incomplete clay pipes—67 units]
Tomorrow, he’ll prioritize the pipe-making because they need to make hundreds of them.
When he went outside, he saw the pixie taking shelter under the extended roof of the warehouse, staring at the dark sky.
The elf traced the pixie’s stare and saw the rain. Contrary to last night, this time it was moderate.
His face was gloomy. The elf returned to the warehouse to get something to cover him and the loli.
Once done, he went to check the fake vegan crocs that had drilled on the ground and rested inside their holes before going to the main residence.
When he went inside, he saw his master staring at the jewelries spread on the small table. His eyes were glued to the effects and quality. All of it was bronze grade and above, but the problem was...
[Braised Pork]
[Egg Fried Rice]
[Pork Dumpling]
[Poached Egg Noodles]
Siri: "..."
Li Chunhua sensed the elf’s presence. She spun her head toward him before saying. "I tried. I really tried hard." (ˉ▽ˉ;)...
