Chapter 423: 423: Warmth in the Kitchen, Coquettish Cohabitation (First Update)

“No, it’s not like that,” Tang Xiang said, “Take it easy.”

She was not a person of boundless compassion; in the business world, her methods were ruthless, but she always knew where to draw the line when it came to serious issues. In this respect, Jiang Xiaolin was not her equal.

“Okay, I’ll listen to you.”

“Come back early.” She found an awkward excuse, “The soup I made is getting cold.”

It wasn’t any special kind of dialogue, yet Jiang Xiaolin still tasted the sweetness of it. He promised with a smile, and after hanging up, his smile faded as he pushed the door open to enter the hospital room.

Jiang Fuli, who sat on the floor, immediately lifted her head, “Cousin?” Her eyes were covered with a black cloth, and her hands and feet were tied.

Jiang Xiaolin gestured to the man behind him.

The man understood and went over to remove the black cloth from Jiang Fuli’s eyes. The sudden bright light was harsh, causing her discomfort as she raised her hand to shield herself from it.

Jiang Xiaolin stood two meters away, “Do you remember this place?”

Jiang Fuli looked around; it was here that she had attacked Tang Xiang. Now, their situations had reversed, and she found herself trapped, with no way out of the current predicament but to show weakness.

“I’ll return all the shares to you, Cousin, just this once. Pretend I was ignorant and let me go,” she pleaded.

With every mention of ‘Cousin,’ one might think they had a good relationship.

“Of course, I’ll let you go,” Jiang Xiaolin said. “I’m not one to commit murder or arson.”

Jiang Fuli had just breathed a sigh of relief—

“But,” he dragged his words slowly.

One moment heaven, the next, Hell, mocking her.

Jiang Fuli looked up at him.

His tone was casual, almost joking, “How can you learn to behave without a bit of hardship?” His tone was nothing like his usual gentle and refined demeanor.

The Jiang Family’s Lin was no gentleman but a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Jiang Fuli was tense, watching him warily, “What are you going to do?”

“In consideration of sharing the same surname, I won’t charge interest, just the principal.”

She understood what he was planning.

Before Jiang Xiaolin turned to leave, Jiang Fuli crawled over and grabbed his hand, her face flushed with panic, “Cousin, I won’t dare again. Please let me off this once, I beg you, Cousin.”

A ploy of self-inflicted injury.

She was always clever.

Jiang Xiaolin wasn’t usually swayed by such tricks, but then he remembered the phone call from Tang Xiang.

Yes, his girlfriend had told him to take it easy.

He pushed Jiang Fuli’s hand away and ordered the man behind him, “Bring in a woman to take her picture.”

This was his final concession.

As a “big brother,” he had one last piece of advice, “If you dare to scheme against Tang Xiang again, it won’t just be about recouping the principal.”

“Cousin—”

Bang!

The door closed, leaving all shouting behind.

Humans are actually quite a pathetic species, often not learning their lesson until having tasted bitterness, or, even then, refusing to repent.

It wasn’t until eleven o’clock that Jiang Xiaolin got home. He had just opened the door.

Tang Xiang sat on the living room sofa, holding a laptop and looked up, “Do you want soup?”

This opening line…

Jiang Xiaolin put his keys down, walked over, and threw his suit jacket aside, “Yes.”

Tang Xiang put down the laptop, “Go wash your hands.”

Jiang Xiaolin had a feeling that once he and Tang Xiang were married he would be tightly controlled by her, from what time he got off work to washing hands before drinking soup.

He didn’t go to wash his hands but followed her to the kitchen. The soup was still on the stove; she turned off the heat and tasted it, then added a bit more salt.

This meant she hadn’t had any, she’d been waiting for him.

Jiang Xiaolin stood behind her, his eyes full of laughter, “Were you waiting for me just now?”

She wouldn’t admit it, “No, I was working overtime.”

Stubborn!

He embraced her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. She didn’t like to wear perfume, so she smelled of shower gel – his shower gel.

“The issue with the photo is resolved.”

Tang Xiang stood still, turned to look at him, “What about Jiang Fuli?”

He put his hand on her waist and handed her a memory card, “Keep this safe.” These photos would ensure Jiang Fuli wouldn’t target her anymore.

Tang Xiang understood and simply said, “Thank you.”

He didn’t like it, it felt too distant.

“I don’t want just verbal thanks.” His tone was getting a bit suggestive.

Tang Xiang turned around, stood on her tiptoes, hooked her arms around his neck, and gave him a deep kiss.

That, he liked.

Their temples touched, their breaths intermingled, and his gaze heated a few degrees, “Tang Xiang.”

“Hmm?”

He suddenly asked, “Do you mind premarital sex?”

Tang Xiang thought seriously for a moment, “No, I don’t mind.” Not if it was with him.

He whispered in her ear, “I don’t mind either.”

Tang Xiang giggled, trying to dodge him, “What then?”

He circled her waist with his arms, pulling her back into his embrace with a mischievous look on his handsome face, “Then, it’s up to you.” He was willing to be at her mercy.

Tang Xiang pushed him, “Hooligan.”

His arms were still around her, and he leaned in closer, his tone playful, “Then be a hooligan to me too, I don’t mind.”

Tang Xiang wanted to talk business, “Your hand is almost healed, I have to move back.”

Her words ruined his good mood; the hand on her waist fell as if it were broken and dangled, “Where does it look almost healed? I can hardly lift it.”

Tang Xiang saw through him, “Your hand seemed fine when you kissed me.”

So unsentimental, what did he even see in her?

Jiang Xiaolin didn’t care, “You can move back if you wish, but you have to take me with you.”

She laughed and scolded, “Rascal.”

“Can’t help it, your boyfriend is a rascal.”

He pressed her against the cupboard and kissed her passionately.
