Chapter 413: 413: Tang Xiang is captured, Jiang Xiaolin gets fierce (one more update
The old glass door, labeled “Emergency” with its paint peeling and the characters incomplete, swung open as the wind blew in.
The man looked up, “Miss Jiang.”
Jiang Fuli entered, removing her mask, “Where is the person?”
“In the ward at the back.”
The man led her there.
This was a long-abandoned hospital, the walls of the corridor covered in mold, emitting a foul smell.
Tang Xiang was locked in a ward at the end of the corridor.
Jiang Fuli pushed the door open and glanced at Tang Xiang, who was unconscious on the floor. “I wonder if my cousin wants power or beauty?” She instructed the people behind her, “Strip her clothes.”
8 PM, Fifth Hospital.
In the ward, only Xu Jiuru and Jiang Xiaolin were present.
“Did you make some deal with Jiang Zhi?”
Otherwise, with his abilities, it wouldn’t be so passive.
Jiang Xiaolin stood by, composed and mature, his expression unchanged, “No.”
Of course, that was a lie.
Xu Jiuru looked at him probingly, “Then you are dissatisfied with me?”
He shook his head, still expressionless, “Grandma, you’re overthinking it.”
Of course, that too was a lie.
All of them were secretive. Xu Jiuru was becoming more bewildered and did not press further; she tried to reason with him, “You are the eldest grandson of the Jiang Family. Regardless of what I have done, the Jiang Family will ultimately be left to you.”
Jiang Xiaolin just listened, not responding.
Xu Jiuru spoke earnestly, “Lin, you must remember not to trust Jiang Zhi blindly. He belongs to the Lu Family, whereas you are a Jiang.”
Jiang Zhi was not to be trusted, but this old lady was no more reliable.
Jiang Xiaolin replied, “I understand, Grandma.”
Xu Jiuru skipped the probing. The pressing matter at hand was to avert the crisis facing the Jiang Family. She got straight to the point, “You already own 42% of the shares. Ming Hongwei is Lu Xinglan’s man; he wouldn’t transfer the shares to us. The only way out is through the shares in Fuxi’s hands.”
She was still eyeing her dominion.
“Fuxi has already moved out.”
Xu Jiuru guessed, “She has teamed up with Jiang Zhi. They might collaborate further. You must secure the shares before Jiang Zhi does. If negotiations fail—”
If negotiations fail—
She hesitated momentarily before adding, “Use some measures.”
No wonder there were more villains than good people in the Jiang Family; she taught them all, and a crooked beam couldn’t straighten its underlings.
Jiang Wei’er pushed the door open, “Use what kind of measures?”
Xu Jiuru glanced at her but didn’t explain, “You should leave first.”
She ignored her and walked to the bedside, “Murder or arson?”
“Wei’er—”
She couldn’t listen anymore, “Aren’t you ashamed? Yesterday, while you were in resuscitation, I was waiting outside. Do you know what I was thinking?”
She felt ashamed; she couldn’t face Jiang Zhi or many others, yet this morally corrupt woman was her mother, the woman who bore and raised her after ten months.
She thought spitefully at the time, “Might as well let it end this way, put an end to everything.”
Xu Jiuru opened her mouth but uttered no sound.
“Ms. Xu,”
She called her Ms. Xu.
“Enough is enough.”
As a daughter, that was Jiang Wei’er’s final piece of advice.
Xu Jiuru was once again rushed into the emergency room; her heart, liver, spleen, and lungs all had issues, partly due to her age and partly due to chronic poison. The chief physician had changed; Qin Shiyu was nowhere to be found.
Jiang Wei’er and Jiang Xiaolin sat in the chairs outside the emergency room, silent for half an hour.
“Lin,” she suddenly spoke.
“Um.”
She hadn’t closed her eyes for two days, and her eyes were bloodshot. “Your grandmother had five children, a whole big family, but maybe I’ll be the only one to send her off when the day comes.”
The eldest had grown cold long ago due to the kidnapping case back then. While Xu Jiuru was alive, he would still put on an act, but after her death, it was uncertain.
The second oldest was in jail, the third and fourth were gone, leaving only her, the Fifth.
However, it was normal for just her to be left. Xu Jiuru had been selfish and self-serving all her life, only showing some kindness and gentleness towards her youngest daughter.
Jiang Wei’er turned his head to look at Jiang Xiaolin. “Don’t follow in your grandmother’s footsteps; it won’t end well.”
Jiang Xiaolin didn’t respond.
It was too late; he had already learned a bellyful of conspiracies and schemes and had already committed numerous evils. Perhaps he had done too much evil, for his retribution came too swiftly.
“Clang!”
The phone dropped to the ground.
Jiang Wei’er asked, “What’s wrong?”
Normally calm and collected, Jiang Xiaolin actually panicked. He struggled to pick up the phone; instead of standing up, he crouched on the ground and dialed the strange number.
“Young Master Lin?”
It was a strange man’s voice.
Jiang Xiaolin tried to stay calm. “Where is she?”
Just then, this strange number had sent a photo to his phone. In the photo, Tang Xiang was bound, lying disheveled on the ground.
The other side slowly said, “Keep calm, as long as Young Master Lin cooperates, we will send the person right back to you.”
Keep calm?
He wanted to kill someone already; he couldn’t wait. “Name your price.”
When he had been kidnapped years ago, the kidnappers had demanded two billion yuan. If he hadn’t started a fire, he wouldn’t have made it back alive. Those who engage in kidnappings are desperate criminals who are never kind or gentle.
“Talking about money is so tacky.”
Jiang Xiaolin clenched his fist, suppressing a towering rage. “Then what the hell do you want?”
His voice trembled, he was extremely furious.
The other side said, “We want something valuable.”
They didn’t want money but something valuable.
Jiang Xiaolin turned and walked out.
“Lin.”
He didn’t care if Jiang Wei’er was calling from behind; he rushed out in a panic, and at the door, he happened to run into Jiang Fuli.
“Cousin,” she blocked his way, “do you want to talk?”
He was terse. “Get out of the way.”
Jiang Fuli smiled. “Are you sure?”
He looked up at her.
Jiang Fuli didn’t speak, turning instead toward the stairwell.
Jiang Xiaolin followed.
She found a spot in the stairwell that was blind to the surveillance cameras, where there were no passersby at this time.
“Did you do this?”
He was anxious.
This was the first time Jiang Fuli saw her usually composed eldest cousin so agitated.
She nodded. “Yes.”
The light in the stairwell was very dim, and Jiang Xiaolin’s eyes were gloomy. “I’ve warned you before. You can play however you want, but don’t play games over my head.”
Indeed, big fish eat small fish; Tang Xiang was someone above him in the food chain, his natural enemy.
It was strange, the den of villains that was the Jiang Family, always breeding the romantic, first Jiang Weixuan and Jiang Weining, then Jiang Zhi and Jiang Xiaolin.
Jiang Fuli looked confident: “You started it first.” She crossed her arms, calm and collected. “You put my parents in jail and swallowed our branch’s shares, remember?”
Jiang Xiaolin didn’t say a word, picked up a fire extinguisher from the stairway corner, and approached her. “This is a blind spot for surveillance. Whatever I do here, only heaven, earth, you, and I will know.”
