Chapter 408: 408: You don’t, I want, I must! (Second Update)

“Why?”

She blushed, refusing to speak, turning her face away, not looking at him.

Jiang Zhi patted her head, “Zhou Xufang, you have a fever.” He lifted her chin, forcing her to look at him, “What are you thinking about?”

She was worried that he was sterile, after all he had been sterile before, and she couldn’t bear it.

She didn’t say it out loud because she did not want to hurt him.

“So do you really not want me to get a vasectomy?” He wasn’t joking; as long as Zhou Xufang nodded, he would go get the surgery tomorrow.

Zhou Xufang replied, “No.”

Well then, he had to listen to her.

“Then during the risky period—”

Zhou Xufang pressed his mouth shut with her hand, her expression deliberately fierce, “Don’t talk, I know.”

Jiang Zhi smiled and kissed the palm of her hand.

He was very good at flirting, excellent at seducing.

Zhou Xufang, easily teased, blushed faintly on her cheeks, “Itchy.”

She withdrew her hand, but Jiang Zhi caught it, not letting her pull away, “Don’t hide.”

“Your phone is ringing.” She could hear it; his phone was ringing on the table outside.

Jiang Zhi bent over awkwardly and picked her up, “Never mind it.”

Zhou Xufang, unsteady, obediently wrapped her arms around his neck.

“Jiang Zhi.”

“Hmm?”

“Don’t bite.”

He was both petulant and unreasonable, “No, I want to.” He did so very gently.

Like a dog, clingy.

“Fang Bao,” he lifted his head, his eyes misty and clouded, as if a peach blossom bloomed frosted on glass, brilliantly enchanting, he asked, “Do you love me?”

“Love.”

He loved to ask this question, every day, tirelessly.

Zhou Xufang indulged him, easily saying all sorts of mushy words to please him.

The phone left in the living room rang for a long while before it was picked up.

“What’s up?”

The tone was worlds apart; moments ago tender and now frosty to the bone.

The woman on the phone spoke gently, “I’m near your house.”

Jiang Zhi licked his lips, in the heat of June and July, people tend to become irritable, “It’s late, let’s talk tomorrow.”

“I need to talk to you about Xu Jiuru.” She said, “I’ll wait for you.”

After that, she hung up the phone.

Zhou Xufang came out of the bathroom, her face still wet; she had washed it with cold water, but her temperature hadn’t dropped yet, slightly feverish, “Who was that?”

“Jiang Fuxi.”

Jiang Zhi went and poured her some warm water.

Zhou Xufang drank the water, her fingernails scratching the cup, “A decent girl wouldn’t disturb a married man at night,” she said righteously, “Jiang Fuxi is not decent.”

A woman seeking someone else’s boyfriend in the middle of the night couldn’t be a good woman.

Zhou Xufang felt troubled; it seemed like there were always people coveting Jiang Zhi’s beauty.

Jiang Zhi was amused by her seriously jealous demeanor, “Our Fang Bao is the most upright.”

Zhou Xufang agreed, “Yes, I am very upright.”

Being a professional errand runner wasn’t exactly an upright job, but Zhou Xufang firmly believed she was the most upright among them.

It wasn’t her boasting; Ah Wan had praised her, Wen Baiyang had praised her, and Mr. Xiao Xue had praised her too.

Jiang Zhi patted the upright Zhou Xu’s head, “Wait for me at home, I’ll be back in ten minutes.” Jiang Fuxi was a person hard to grasp, and he wasn’t very keen on letting her meet Zhou Xufang.

Zhou Zhengzhi handed him the phone, her expression stern, her serious look adorably stern, “I’ll call you, don’t hang up, and take the phone with you.”

Jiang Zhi couldn’t help but grin, “So strict?”

Zhou Zhengzhi said, “Yes.”

Jiang Zhi, eyes crinkling with a smile, “The milk is warm, go drink it first.” Knowing she was worried, Jiang Zhi instructed, “If I’m not back in ten minutes, come find me.”

“Okay.”

Jiang Zhi left, carrying the phone that was still on the call. Zhou Xufang, who had keen hearing, could even hear the sound of his footsteps through the phone.

He walked through the lamplight to the outside of their villa complex.

Jiang Fuxi was waiting by a white car, still wearing the light blue cheongsam from the party, which complemented her gentle and graceful demeanor, like a sheltered noble lady from ancient times.

“Is Zhou Xufang asleep?” she asked.

Jiang Zhi didn’t like hearing Zhou Xufang’s name from her lips, his look icy, “If you have something to say, say it.”

He was impatient, barely masking his emotions.

Jiang Fuxi looked at him, her eyes filled with nothing but his reflection under the moonlight, “You know about my background, right?”

“Hmm.”

He knew where she stood; understanding that she wasn’t on Xu Jiu’s side, which is why he could scheme so precisely, allowing the Lu Family to own exactly 43% of the shares, just enough to suppress the Jiang Family.

If he wasn’t fully aware of her background, he wouldn’t have taken such a risk. There was only one possibility: he knew about her vendetta against the Jiang Family.

“Jiang Zhi,” her gaze intense, obsessively entwining, “We’re on the same side, always have been.”

“Is this what you came to say?” Jiang Zhi lacked interest, his eyes focusing on the ground, impatient.

Jiang Fuxi shook her head, “Xu Jiuru, do you want her dead?”

Jiang Zhi looked up, his eyes distant and guarded, as if separated by a cold layer of frost, “What does my wanting or not wanting have to do with you?”

He clearly marked his boundaries.

“As long as you want,” her gaze was exceedingly gentle, like that of a lover, rippling softly, “I’ll take her life for you.”

Whatever he wanted, she would give.
