Chapter 303: 303: Xu Fang’s beauty trap, Jiang Zhi follows (see beyond the question)

When the door closed, Zhou Xufang spoke, “Her regeneration and self-healing speed should be different from mine.” Su Chan’s self-healing speed was nowhere near hers.

Jiang Zhi agreed, “The effort they put into finding you indicates that your value far exceeds hers and Xiao Yusheng’s.” He made a comparison, “The two of them might be half-finished products, or even defective.”

They possessed some capabilities beyond ordinary humans, or maybe none at all.

Smart as she was, Zhou Xufang immediately understood and deduced further, “I’m the qualified product.”

“…”

She really thought of herself as a product.

“When you were in the lab, did you have much contact with the directionally challenged one?” The information he found was too superficial; it only confirmed one thing—that that person was directionally challenged.

“Not much.”

All the ‘products’ were confined to their individual rooms, their movements restricted. Even Yun Sheng, who was in the same group as her, she seldom saw. There were others in her group like 014, but 014 had been bedridden soon after entering the lab due to side effects of the medication. Zhou Xufang hadn’t even met her. She’d encounter her during blood transfusions, but sometimes they blindfolded her, and sometimes they simply hooded her.

Su Qinghou was the little prince of the lab, the only one who could move about freely, but Zhou Xufang found every encounter with him unpleasant.

He enjoyed tormenting her, such as starving her.

Jiang Zhi asked, “What kind of person is he?”

Without hesitation, Zhou Xufang said, “A vile villain.” That villain starved her, and on top of that he electrocuted Yun Sheng, “Such a bastard.”

Jiang Zhi actually welcomed hearing her curse. His girl was kind-hearted, seeing more good people than bad, so if she said someone was bad, they must be truly evil.

Of course, it wasn’t just bad behavior.

Su Dingzhi had spent ten years building the Genetic Laboratory, yet Su Qinghou destroyed it in one day, devouring all his father’s efforts. Thereafter, Old Master Zhi stepped down, and Young Master Zhi became Pullman’s tyrant.

That action, mere badness was insufficient.

“Xiao Yi has intentionally kept it a secret, Su Qinghou probably still doesn’t know my whereabouts,” Zhou Xufang was distressed, “Jiang Zhi, should I run away?”

Clearly, Su Qinghou was up to no good.

Jiang Zhi asked her, “Run where?”

“Moon Bay.”

A significant reason she had wanted to buy Moon Bay was to seek refuge.

“Just bring me along,” Jiang Zhi had no stance of his own, “the rest, you decide.”

Though Moon Bay was desolate, the thought of it being just the two of them kindled a bit of anticipation.

Zhou Xufang pondered seriously, “Lixiang is getting engaged soon, my uncle’s not in good health, your movie isn’t finished yet, and then there’s Yun Sheng—he hasn’t contacted me, he must be in a bad situation.” Previously alone, she now had too many things and people she couldn’t leave behind, “I don’t want to run yet.”

She didn’t want Jiang Zhi to abandon his roots unless they were desperate.

“Then we won’t run, I have no principles, I’ll go wherever you go.” He gently smoothed her furrowed brow, “Don’t panic, this isn’t Pullman, Su Qinghou can’t cover the sky with one hand at Jiang’s house.”

Don’t panic.

Zhou Xufang, you have Jiang Zhi; you aren’t fighting alone.

Props Room.

“Have all the props been checked?” The manager asked from outside.

After checking everything, the stagehand Xiao Chuan responded, “All checked, no issues.”

The manager took a call and then went to the props room, “We need to redo the set, you all go help.”

Soon, the props room was empty. The sun outside cast a shadow on the doorway, the figure against the light, clad in a dark-colored pleated satin skirt with a White Jade Belt, and feet in a pair of light blue embroidered shoes.

She approached a wooden rack and took the sword resting on it.

Zhou Xufang and Jiang Zhi were arguing again.

Let’s call it an argument, though Ah Wan felt it seemed more like a kindergarten teacher coaxing a rowdy older kid.

“I disagree.”

Sometimes, Jiang Zhi could be quite unreasonable.

Zhou Xufang stated her reason, “Only this way can we dispel her suspicions.”

No room for discussion, he simply said, “No.”

Ah Wan, catching bits and pieces, didn’t know what Zhou Xufang intended to do, and naturally, didn’t understand why the boss was opposed.

Yet, Zhou Xufang was insistent, “I’m confident.”

Despite typically indulging his girlfriend, Jiang Zhi didn’t yield, “Zhou Xufang, what did you promise yesterday—”

His sentence got cut off.

Someone’s mouth had been covered.

Instinctively, Ah Wan stepped forward and pressed his ear against the door, eager to hear what would unfold, then Zhou Xufang’s voice penetrated his ear:

“Mr. Lin, please step aside.”

Ah Wan: “!” Did she have clairvoyance or exceptionally keen hearing?

Tap.

The door opened.

Jiang Zhi with a cold face said, “Get out.”

Ah Wan touched his nose, “Oh.”

Slam!

The door shut.

Ah Wan: “…”

Indeed, eavesdropping on the boss and the Boss Lady’s private conversations wasn’t so easy.

“Jiang Zhi.”

“Jiang Zhi.”

Zhou Xufang was consoling someone.

Jiang Zhi didn’t listen, “Zhou Xufang, don’t get any clever ideas.”

Su Chan was about to make a move, she wanted to use the enemy’s plan against them, to test Su Chan, but the method would hurt the enemy and harm themselves, and he naturally disagreed.

Zhou Xufang then stopped talking and tiptoed to undo the buttons on his shirt.

Jiang Zhi caught her hand, “What are you doing?”

Zhou Xufang, “Seducing.”

Where did she learn that!

“Zhou Xu—”

She tiptoed, her lips approached, and blocked his words.

The minute hand on the watch had moved half a circle.

Eventually, Jiang Zhi gave in, “Do we really have to use this method?”

Zhou Xufang’s head was still burning, her eyes misty, she nodded, “This is the most effective way.”

He was out of options with her, her tenderness had softened his heart, he could only go with, “This won’t set a precedent.” He couldn’t withstand her pestering and coercion. Even when it comes to wrong decisions, in their household, the final decision was still made by Zhou Xufang.

She was satisfied, “Okay.”

After agreeing, Jiang Zhi immediately regretted it, his heart sank, constantly uneasy, Zhou Xufang reassured him repeatedly, promising that she would be safe and sound.

The first scene in the afternoon was Fang Lixiang’s scene.

Vice Director Zhao noticed it, Director Jiang seemed very anxious and worried, constantly furrowing his brow, his eyes glued to his girlfriend, absent-minded.

Probably the young couple had a tiff.

Vice Director Zhao noticed something, and also, noticed some clues, “Director Jiang, your neck…”

He thought Director Jiang would say it was a mosquito bite.

No, Jiang Zhi said quite proudly, “My girlfriend did it.”

“…”

*Cough cough!*

Vice Director Zhao gave a thumbs up, genuinely impressed, “Your girlfriend is quite impressive.”

Director Jiang, feeling a bit better because his girlfriend was praised, “Naturally.” He touched his neck, buttoned his shirt collar to the top, his face stern, scolding, “The cameras are rolling, what are you dawdling for?”

All the staff and actors, “…” Would you dare to be harsh with your girlfriend?

Fang Lixiang had three scenes, all in one go, shot very smoothly. The fourth scene, her confrontation scene with Su Chan, included a fight in the latter part and a stunt double was used.

The martial arts director was doing the final action confirmation, “First block with the sword, roll,” he demonstrated the action himself, “and then Miss Su, you draw your sword and stab Miss Zhou’s shoulder.”

Zhou Xufang and Su Chan listened attentively.

“Okay?”

Both nodded.

“Let’s go through the action one more time.” The martial arts director called to a stage hand, “Bring the props over.”

“Okay.”

In this scene, the female lead played by Fang Lixiang was stabbed in the shoulder by the second female lead played by Su Chan.

The prop team had modified the sword, a quiet force, and the sword would retract an inch, only piercing the blood pack and not harming the person.

Su Chan took the sword, Zhou Xufang took the dagger.

“My apologies.”

Su Chan bowed and said this, then began exchanging moves.

She gripped the sword handle, striking at Zhou Xufang’s feet, not particularly fast, but not slow either.

Zhou Xufang retreated, leapt up, and kicked back. Su Chan used the blade to block, flipped away, and threw the sword upward, pulled her sword, and stabbed horizontally into Zhou Xufang’s shoulder.

The entire sequence of actions flowed smoothly.

The martial arts director praised, “Beautiful!” He signaled to the filming crew, “That’s how you do it, no problem.”

Only then did Su Chan put away the sword, and then, Zhou Xufang staggered back, falling backwards.

Xiao Chuan, the stage hand, was the first to notice: “Blood, blood…”

There was no blood pack, yet a crimson trail of blood spread from Zhou Xufang’s shoulder.

“Xufang!”

The cry was from Fang Lixiang.

Clang—

The sword dropped to the ground, its tip stained red, Su Chan immediately showed a panicked expression.

Jiang Zhi pushed through the crowd, holding Zhou Xufang in his arms, furious, “What’s going on!”

The martial arts director picked up Su Chan’s sword, examined it, “There seems to be a problem with the prop.”

The tip wasn’t blunt, and it didn’t retract.

Jiang Zhi, eyes red with urgency, shouted, “Call an ambulance immediately.”

Vice Director Zhao quickly dialed 120.

Su Chan stood there, watching as blood continued to seep from Zhou Xufang’s shoulder, her white dress rapidly spreading with a bloom of blood.

Where did it go wrong? Wasn’t she supposed to be 011? Why was there unstoppable bleeding? Why didn’t the wound self-heal?

Clang.

Su Chan was bumped by a stage hand rushing over, her skirt hooked onto the camera stand, her dark floral satin skirt torn, the white jade belt shook, her light blue embroidered shoes scraped the ground.

“I’m sorry, Miss Su.”

She, seemingly flustered, “It’s okay.”
