Chapter 87: Ch 87: Lower your expectations - Part 2

"Don’t talk like that about my mother! You have no idea how hard she worked or what she is going through. Just because she does not like you does not mean you get to talk about her like this..."

Anabella flinched as her shoulder ached due to her husband’s tight grip. Her pheromones turned sour due to her injury, snapping Daniel out of whatever daze he was in.

He looked at his hand, and then at the shoulder, he was gripping before quickly stepping back and almost falling as he collided with the sofa behind his back.

"I-I apologize. This was not what I intended to do-"

Daniel did not regret what happened, but he did feel awkward looking at Anabella once he had hurt her.

It had not been his intention to harm her, but Anabella made him just so mad when she opened her mouth. It made Daniel lose all reason, and he grabbed her shoulder like that...

"I am fine. There is no need to feel guilty over what happened. As for your mother, I won’t take back what I said about her. Now, I will head back to my room. Call me if you need anything."

Anabella’s words had a hidden meaning that Daniel’s sharp brain caught.

She asked him not to come to her and call her if he needed anything. But to do that, Daniel would have to unblock her from his phone, and that was one act he did not want to do.

After all, he had promised Sharon that she was the only one for him now, and unblocking Anabella felt like he was breaking his promise to Sharon by doing this.

...

"Tsk, that grip left a mark. Fuck! My shoulder hurts. This wound is going to take some time to heal up."

Anabella turned her body around so that she could see her shoulder. The blue-black mark on her body made her skin look pale.

She decided to wear long-sleeved clothes because she did not want anyone to look at her and get the wrong idea about what had happened to her.

Daniel had taken off to work as soon as the morning came, and he had not even been able to look at Anabella after last night’s confrontation.

It was clear that something had happened between her and Daniel, but they were both pretending nothing was wrong.

"What happened? You had better not hide anything from me, or I will get angry. You don’t want to see me angry, right?"

Sharon asked in a clear voice as she placed food in front of James but not Anabella. The older omega waited for an answer from Anabella, but the younger omega felt her headache.

"What would you do if I hid things from you? Not give me food? First, that is your job, and you must carry it out. And second, even if you don’t cook for me, it’s fine. I’ve managed to get by this far; I can also manage in the future."

Anabella pointed out, and Sharon’s face reddened before she tried to control her coughing.

Her eyes looked at Anabella while shooting daggers, but Anabella did not seem to care. She quietly ate her food and decided that she was done talking for the day.

James noticed the tension but did not know what to do about it. So, he quietly sat back and decided to enjoy his food.

"By the way, what will you be wearing for Aunt’s birthday party this weekend? We should tell each other so that we don’t accidentally coordinate. It won’t be good for either of our images..."

Sharon asked, and Anabella stopped whatever she was doing to give her a concerned look.

"What are you talking about? Neither you nor I are invited to that party. My mother-in-law made it clear that Daniel and James were the only ones allowed to come that day. Did Daniel not tell you about it?"

Anabella asked, and Sharon felt her smile freezing on her face.

She looked troubled and doubtful but also angry, refusing to believe what she had just heard.

’Ah, looks like I spoke something unnecessary. I should have kept my mouth shut about this.’

But in her defense, Anabella had been sure that Daniel would have told Sharon about something this important. He knew how long an omega had to prepare for a big party.

Sharon’s face was filled with disbelief and suspicion. She did not seem to believe what Anabella had said to her, and the younger woman sighed in regret.

’I knew this was going to happen the second Sharon knew about this. No wonder she had been so quiet this morning.’

Anabella ate her food quietly under Sharon’s glare.

She was not afraid of the omega but did not have the mental power to fight with her either.

"I will take James to school. You have told their school about me, right?"

Sharon asked in an annoyed voice. At this point, she was just looking for ways to start a fight.

But unfortunately for her, she was barking up the wrong tree. Anabella did not have what it took to get angry at the moment.

"Sure. I will call the school to let you in. Have a nice day. I will be out by the time you come back, so make sure you take the house key with you."

Anabella did not have plans, but staying in the house felt suffocating. Especially since she could smell Sharon’s pheromones everywhere, clinging to most surfaces and telling Anabella ’exactly’ what the omega had been up to.

"I get it. I will take the key. Is there anything else you want me to do? Since you are my ’mistress,’ I feel like I should ask you this question just in case."

Once again, Sharon sounded as if she was ready to fight Anabella, but the younger omega just smiled and did not reply.

She was not giving Sharon any reason to show aggression toward her.
