"Hey, something feels weird. My body feels heavy all of a sudden. Do you notice this as well?"

The guard asked his fellow gatekeeper, and Anabella pretended she did not hear their conversion as she waited for Noah and Clair to show up.

The part of the neighborhood where Anabella lived with her husband was one of the highest classes and most well-paid areas.

It was as safe here as it could be anywhere in the world. However, that did not mean incidents could not happen, and people could not make Anabella uncomfortable.

She had walked past the gates, and the guards were talking, so neither noticed her. But one of her neighbors noticed Anabella and how she leaned against the wall.

The lady was a beautiful redhead with a spicy alpha scent. With her sharp senses, she had noticed Anabella was in pre-heat.

Everyone in this neighborhood knew about Daniel and his lover. They also knew about Anabella and Daniel’s marriage and how nothing existed except a formal bond of paper and legal actions.

But people have still acknowledged this false claim the pair had made against each other until now.

However, that did not mean that the claim could be maintained now that Anabella had exposed herself outside in her pre-heat.

The female alpha felt her mouth salivate as she watched Anabella standing outside, unprotected and flaunting her scent, inviting a passer-by alpha to take notice.

"Miss Ross, what a pleasure to run into you here. Are you out here because of an errand? Would you like some help?"

The female alpha asked in an almost husky voice as she caged Anabella in her arms to prevent her from being able to move.

It was not an uncommon practice between lovers, but Anabella did not know this alpha, much less allow her to be this close.

Seeing this made her frown, and the alpha quickly pulled back.

It was enough to be noticed but did not impact the omega’s personal space.

"Can I help you with anything? Please, give me some room so I can wait for my friends in peace."

Anabella asked politely. Although she had not attacked the alpha yet, her patience was running thin.

It made her body tense up in warning, and she looked at the alpha in front of her with caution and suspicion.

But the alpha took it as the wrong sign and misinterpreted this as Anabella being interested in her.

The female’s smile could only be described as her attempt to be ’sexy,’ but it greatly put Anabella off.

She subtly tried to push the older alpha away, but the alpha was too well-built for her to be successful.

Also, Anabella realized a little late that she made a mistake by placing her hand on that chest. It gave the alpha a reason to misinterpret her and think Anabella was interested in her.

’Ugh, this is such a problem. I need to get back inside the gate now to get away. I don’t feel this alpha has friendly intentions toward me.’

Anabella took a deep breath, looked at the woman before her right in the eyes, and spoke clearly.

"Please, let me go. I do not want to spend time getting familiar with you. I also told you that I have friends coming to pick me up, and you being this close to me is causing me to become uncomfortable."

Anabella could not have been cleared even if she had tried. The next step she had left was violence, and she wanted to avoid that road as much as she could.

Her words made the alpha holding her arm giggle in a way that sounded arrogant.

"Aww, come on, sweety. Don’t be like that with me. Your pre-heat smells bad, and you would likely need an alpha to get through his. Allow me to help you out-."

That was the last straw for Anabella. She had said no quite a few times, but now she could not take it anymore.

She ended up pulling her hand back before she thrust her fist into the stomach of the alpha holding her hostage.

The impact was intentions.

Anabella’s shoulders were let go of, and the alpha kneeled in pain in front of Anabella. Her eyes looked annoyed and hurt when she looked at the omega who caused her to become like this.

"Y-You-! What do you think-!"

The female alpha finally sounded angry, but Anabella had already used that opportunity to run inside the gate and close the door behind her.

Her hurried moments also caused the guards around her to notice what was happening, and they came to help.

But being denied like this did not sit well with the alpha outside the doors. Not only had she been offended, but she had also been hurt by an omega in pre-heat.

It made the alpha part of her brain feel violent, and she wanted to break something apart with her hands as soon as possible.

"Come out, and I will forgive you. But if you run away like this, I won’t have a choice but to force you out myself. Now, it is in your hands what you choose to do."

The female alpha raged, but her eyes looked calm. She called Anabella to come out, and her voice was laced with pheromones.

There was no way Anabella was going to come out just because she was being called, but her legs felt heavy, and they took a step without her will.

"This is illegal. You cannot use your pheromones on an omega in pre-heat. It would be bad once this goes public. Are you not worried about your reputation or the reputation of your family?"

Reputation meant a lot in their circle, and each family in the neighborhood could not afford to lose it. That was why it was such an effective way to make someone submit and back off.

That was what Anabella wanted to achieve here, but the female she was facing just laughed out loud at Anabella’s words.
