Chapter 35: Ch 35: Ignorant People - Part 1

"S-So, you all are not bonded? T-That is good news...I mean, congratulations on your marriage. You look young but must love your husband to marry him this young. You had your whole life ahead of you."

The unknown omega tried to make small talk, but Anabella was getting frustrated with her now, so she decided to end the conversation as quickly as possible.

"Not really. It was an arranged marriage, and I had no say in it. Now, shall we get started and play?"

Anabella had not meant to show her frustration or annoyance out loud like this. She had been sure she could keep it under wraps for this gaming session.

But it became evident quickly that it was not the case.

Somehow, this female omega was bringing out the worst in Anabella, and she did not like it.

"I-I see! I am sorry for asking all this. We should focus on our game now."

The game started, and the map loaded in when the omega spoke these words.

The alpha pair on the other side of the screen had yet to say anything, but when Anabella looked at them, they looked locked in and ready to win.

She had seen Noah like this before, mainly because he was young and almost the same age as her. But she had not seen Clair like this.

Clair was almost three years older than her and Noah. She always seemed mature, and she hardly lost her cool.

She maintained her indifferent attitude even when she played with Anabella before. But this time, something seemed different. The female alpha looked locked in and ready to destroy her opponent.

’Should I take the right side of the map? That is where Clair likes to hide and shoot from. I can catch her by surprise if I play my cards right...’

Anabella made her way to where she knew her friend liked to hide, but when she reached that side of the map, she was surprised that no one was there.

She only looked at her partner’s screen to feel bad for her.

You died

That message was being displayed across the unknown omega’s screen, and her death counter was already in the double digits.

The alpha pair had decided to focus on Anabella’s partner and break her spirit. It was getting to the omega as well, as could be seen by the harsh line of her lip and the way she looked ready to cry.

"You can give up whenever you want to. But if you are going to play, can you show some backbone and attack back? This is getting boring."

Noah teased in a low voice, but his expression spoke volumes about his rotten mood. It made the unknown omega squeak and look down.

’Ah, looks like Noah is in a bad mood. I guess I would be in a bad mood as well if someone hit on my lover right in front of me. Will I be his next victim because I asked this omega to play with us?’

Anabella decided to help out the poor omega who Noah was bullying. She sprinted across the map to the other side, only to meet up with Clair.

The alpha did not let Anabella head to the other side of the map, but she did not kill her either.

It made Anabella want to hit her in the game, but the female alpha was too agile for Anabella to get a hit across properly.

’Fuck! This is so annoying! But Clair had always been incredible at this game, so I cannot complain!’

Anabella clenched her lower lip, and the timer soon hit zero. Their team had lost by a considerably large margin.

But the only one killed all this time had been that unknown omega.

"I-I am sorry! It looks like I need to head out now. I-It was nice to play with you all."

The omega quickly stood up and jumped on her feet before she ran out with all her might. She looked embarrassed and did not lift her red face even as she left the arcade.

It made Anabella feel like a bully, and she glared at the alpha pair before her.

"What did we do wrong? That girl should not have challenged us if she was so fragile. I do not go easy on others, and you know it."

Noah commented back, now trying to clear the air between himself and Anabella.

"I did not say anything. But the fact that you are apologizing means that you at least realize that you made a mistake. I hope you will not be like this next time when we are with a stranger."

Anabella tried to talk to Noah about it, but the pout on the alpha’s face gave her a headache.

"I did not start this. It is not my fault! I hate it when those people think they have a chance with my lover, and they try to make a pass on her.

Only I am allowed to make a pass on Clair....and I guess you can make one as well since we are close-"

Clair ended up closing Noah’s mouth before he could sprout any more bullshit.

A barely present hint of blush on Clair’s face made her look adorable. Seeing her like this made Anabella smile; she did not even know she had been suppressing it all this time.

"Oh, who am I kidding? You will not change now, so there is no point in asking this of you. I also prefer you like your neutral self. Now, shall we play more and forget what happened?"

Anabella was a whole head shorter than the alpha pair, but she still somehow reached around their shoulders to pull them down to her level.

The rigid alphas followed what Anabella had planned for them and looked satisfied following her lead.

It felt familiar and easy. Anabella felt relaxed doing this familiar activity.

So, she could only curse in her mind when she received a call from her stepmother during one of her rounds.
