Chapter 108: Ch 108: Late Night Call - Part 1

"Clair, what are you planning for that shop? Whatever you are planning, don’t do it. You should leave it all alone. Those people are not worth spending your effort on."

Anabella was used to getting rough treatment, so she did not even feel snubbed by what happened. It had been a natural occurrence that often happened to her, and she kept her head straight.

But just because she could tolerate the shame did not mean that others felt the same way. Clair looked ready to bite someone’s head off when she heard what Anabella had to say, but her head came back to her senses.

*Cough*

"You are right. I should not make the face I am making or complicate things for myself. I will not act against that shop so you can relax."

Clair assured Anabella, but something still felt wrong. The female in front of him had given up far too easily. It was not like Clair to agree to any demand so easily.

"Are you sure this is what you want, Clair? If you feel annoyed by what I asked you to do, then you don’t have to do it."

Anabella asked, but she was distracted by Noah, who placed his arms around her shoulder and pulled her toward the car.

"Forget about everything else, and let’s head home. You should stay over today, and we can have fun. It will be just like old times."

Noah assured Anabella, and she felt alarm bells ring in her head.

’Speaking of old sleepovers, I am sure I took too many liberties with this pair since they let me get away with a lot. But I don’t think I should be allowed to do the same any longer.’

Not only was Anabella married, but she was also not a match for these people.

The best course of action for her would be to insist on heading back to work the next day.

But her mind and heart had never been in the same place before, and this time was no different.

Before Anabella knew it, she was standing in front of the alpha pair’s door, and they were urging her to head in.

"Make yourself comfortable here. I need to make a call before I come in. Clair, you and Anabella can start eating dinner. The housekeeper has it prepared already."

Noah assured with a smile before he clutched his phone in his hand. His grip looked a little tight, and his smile made Anabella feel uncomfortable.

She felt she was forgetting something and needed to stop Noah before he did something.

But since she could not recall it (and mostly because Clair distracted her before Anabella’s brain could remember), she went inside, and the door closed behind her.

Noah continued to smile as he watched his chosen omega enter his nest, but that smile faded from his face, and his voice turned grim.

His phone rang once and twice, and on the third ring, a panicked man on the other side picked up his call.

"B-Boss, it has been some time since you last contacted us. What do you need us to do? I assure you that it will get done as soon as possible."

On the other side, the alpha tried his best to leave a good impression on Noah. He knew he would not get this chance to impress Noah again.

"I see. Since you are so eager to please me, I am sure you will do well when I tell you what you need to do. Otherwise, you might become my next victim. Ah, and I don’t need to remind you to keep your mouths closed, right?"

Noah asked, and the man on the other side of the phone gulped in nervousness.

"I-I won’t cause you any trouble, master. Please let us know what we need to do."

Nervousness dripped from that man’s words as he spoke and tried to control himself. But the more he tried, the more he was unable to handle things. In the end, the phone call was dropped, and Noah sent the person he contacted all the relevant details of this job.

"How dare that manager? How can he tell me that I am no longer needed at work when I am the reason that the store got where it was? Does he think he would be able to make it without me?"

The proud designer complained as he threw a tantrum in his home. The shock of being fired was still lingering in his eyes, but this time, it was accompanied by a bout of anger and disappointment.

The more this designer tried to understand why he was let go, the more he realized that it did not make sense.

As far as he could tell, he had not made any mistakes. He had even conducted himself perfectly and in a way worthy of his station.

"Tsk, is it all because I did not want that omega to wear my dress? Well, it was my choice who wore my dress to show it off. And I think that costly dress did not suit that cheap omega. Just because everyone else refused to see did not mean it was my fault."

The designer argued, but there was no one to hear him out.

For a second, the designer felt afraid and also like he had spoken too much. He should not have said such things about the people who helped him out...or something.

But as soon as that thought crossed his mind, he felt validated for it when he remembered how awkward Omega had looked when she wore his dress.

He was self-assured, so he decided to file an official complaint with the police about his unjust firing.

The designer opened the door, but just as he did, he smelled a pheromonal presence in front of him, making him look up at the people who arrived at his door.

They all looked well-built and had a serious look on their faces. Something about them made the designer’s hair stand on end, and he suddenly looked worried.
