The Boss King actually disguised himself as a novice village chief?!
Chapter 91 - 91 83 The Observations of Dwarf Ludo_2

91: Chapter 83: The Observations of Dwarf Ludo_2 91: Chapter 83: The Observations of Dwarf Ludo_2 Look, isn’t that group of people in front of us scrambling for the chance to be dogs?

“This time we’re selecting singers,” Old Cheli began, “as well as tailors, carpenters…”

No sooner had he finished speaking than a crowd of people immediately raised their hands.

“Me, me, I can!”

“My dad’s a carpenter!”

“I can sing a tune right now!”

Old Cheli squinted his eyes and smiled, “Everyone has a chance, but whether you cut it or not isn’t for you to say.”

His smile vanished, “I’d rather sift out some trash than allow anyone just to make up the numbers.

The chance to reach heaven in one step is right before your eyes, but whether you can grab it depends on your own abilities.”

Entering Star Dragon Ridge-post, saying goodbye to hunger and danger, and living under the guidance of a strong order was indeed a step up to heaven.

As if going from hell to heaven.

Register, be selected, and then divided into groups.

Ludo thought that his only advantage was his singing, and he wanted to seize this opportunity.

At this moment, as he was being ushered forward, he felt like a piglet tied by a rope.

The line moved forward laboriously.

“Back up a bit!” A figure suddenly squeezed in from a gap in front, his fat rear nearly launching Ludo into the air.

“What are you doing!” Ludo, intimidated yet attempting to sound tough, couldn’t help but frown at the stinking odor emanating from the other’s buttocks.

The ass-wiping bastard.

Shadow enveloped Ludo, and as he looked up at the other’s triple-layered chin, which happened from looking down at him, he swallowed subconsciously.

Especially those angry, bulging eyes made his legs a bit weak.

“You…” It’s better to mind your own business rather than stir up trouble.

“Cut in line?” It wasn’t just Ludo who feared the brawny man; the people behind Ludo were also unhappy, but they didn’t dare to voice their grievances.

Signing up was already a shot in the dark; failure was more likely than success.

But if they provoked the strong man, their future days might not be so easy.

No one cared about this little commotion here.

The line continued to move forward.

Finally, it was the turn of that brawny man in front of Ludo, whose fart-like singing immediately soured Old Cheli’s expression.

“Out of here!”

“Lord, give me a chance, I…”

Clang, a soldier to the side drew his sword.

Brawny men with countryside bravado are no different from common dwarves when facing the soldiers of Prey Town.

The brawny man slinked away, but Ludo noticed he turned a corner and headed towards another group of carpenters.

The person selecting there wasn’t Old Cheli but an old craftsman just chosen.

Watching the strong man cut in line, watching those cut-off daring not to speak out of anger, Ludo simply withdrew his gaze.

It was his turn now.

As a performer, Ludo’s voice was quite decent; not incredibly melodious, but definitely not off key.

“Not bad,” nodded Old Cheli, “You can stay.”

“Thank you, Mayor!” Ludo’s face beamed with a smile.

The selection process was swift, and by the afternoon, a dozen or so people had been gathered.

The very fond-of-cutting-in-line strong man unfortunately did not make the cut.

He had strength, but strength alone was not considered special.

Having a unique skill was more likely to be valued by the Lord.

As Ludo followed the group away, seeing that man’s face filled with envy and jealousy, his mood became quite comfortable.

From now on, it should be two different worlds, right?

The pace of the group was slow.

According to what Old Cheli said at the beginning, they should have chosen to set out in the morning, arriving at night after a long day’s journey.

Not to delay the Lord’s important matters, they could only try to tackle the challenge of traveling at night.

With soldiers as escorts, everyone was on tenterhooks.

Everyone knew what nightfall represented, with the likelihood of encountering danger significantly increased.

This was something Old Cheli must have known but still arranged for them to travel at night, indicating the danger was not great.

The subsequent safe journey eased everyone’s minds somewhat.

Having set off in the afternoon, it wasn’t until the following afternoon that everyone, tired and weary, finally reached Star Dragon Ridge-post.

“Such high city walls!” someone couldn’t help but exclaim.

Everyone perked up, their weariness dispelled by the aspiration for a better life.

The towering walls required one to tilt their head back, and among them, Ludo felt the strongest impact, being the shortest heightened his perception.

After entering Star Dragon Ridge-post, Ludo and the others were dumbfounded, not because of the level ground or the row upon row of houses.

It was because of the Giants!

Their sight was instantly captured by the Giant.

The two-headed giant stood there, one head closed its eyes in rest, while the other’s eyes swept over their faces.

Such a colossal being, emanating a terrifying presence that instinctively filled one with dread, just standing there was enough to stir panic within.

What would happen if the Giant took a step?

Ludo longed for the other to lift a foot and step forward; in contrast, being frozen in place and staring made him even more agitated and worried.

It was like thunder, held back in the choking darkness of the clouds, always keeping one on edge.

“From Prey Town?” the Giant asked in a deep voice.

“Yes!” Ludo swallowed, and after his response realized that he was the only one to answer apart from himself.

“Follow me,” said the Giant, turning and heading inside.

Ludo then panicked to find his legs had already turned to jelly from fear, and nearly collapsed on his first step forward.

“Ouch,” chaos ensued behind him.

Ludo turned to look at his fellow townspeople from Prey Town, many of whom had fallen on the ground, appearing quite disheveled, but Ludo understood them all too well.

Having short legs might not be all bad, at least he didn’t fall over randomly.
