Chapter 878: Chapter 603: The Frozen Far East Magic School
The gale stirred by the dragon’s wings blew people off their feet.
A mad corpse was struck by a flying body. Its highly crystallized body cracked all over, and when it hit the ground, it shattered into pieces.
Under the fearless attacks of the mad corpses and the undead, Red Furnace Castle’s defense looked utterly powerless.
The only thing currently preventing their advance was the undead dragon in the sky.
The undead’s attack was even more frenzied than expected. They shifted their target towards the undead dragon, obstructing it, even sacrificing themselves to draw its attention.
"Is that Gon? His appearance doesn’t match."
Soc Red Furnace looked at the figure directing the undead dragon’s assault on the city wall, his eyes filled with confusion.
He had seen Gon before; their appearances were very different.
But only Gon could control the undead dragon.
As he pondered, the undead had already broken through the gates of Red Furnace Castle, more ferocious than the mad corpses, slaughtering their way onto the walls. Even with their chests pierced, they pressed on, attacking with clenched teeth and self-destructing.
The bloody battle ended.
With no more magic elements to sustain them, the mad corpse horde dispersed, leaving the ground littered with scars.
Broken city walls, bodies everywhere.
Soc Red Furnace’s gaze, however, was fixed on the undead dragon as it spread its wings and flew away. He felt something was off.
Gon couldn’t possibly be this weak.
But there were more pressing matters awaiting him—reclaiming Red Furnace Castle.
...
As Soc moved into action, Lind was also receiving the survivors from Cape Camp.
He needed a large number of talents, and fortunately, these survivors were children, precisely the vital force he needed to alleviate the shortage of NPCs and the awkward lack of talent reserves.
But raising these children and then deploying them across the continents still seemed like a drop in the bucket.
"We must accelerate their growth."
Population resources were what he lacked most, and also the most important.
Soc’s successful capture of Red Furnace Castle was a rare piece of good news, granting control over the largest population gathering place with the most abundant population resources.
From now on, Lind didn’t need to worry. All he had to do was assign the undead a conquest task, and they would naturally expand from Red Furnace Castle as their center, sweeping away all enemies.
Including those in the giant beast restricted area.
...
His gaze swept past the ice pillars glistening like fish scales, revealing a vast plain ahead with a single towering ice-covered structure.
Far East Magic School.
This was a major disaster area for magic misuse.
Lind took out the Banshee’s Horn and released Selena. The bewildered ghost had no idea what was happening and passively followed Lind towards the Magic School.
The iron-clad gate was secured with a frozen iron chain.
"You need a key to open the gate," Selena said.
But Lind tugged the chain, leaning back to pull it.
With a loud "huff," the sealed gate, bound by both ice and magic, lifted inch by inch under his pull.
Selena fell silent.
Recently, she had not been allowed out at all, so she didn’t understand what had happened to Lind. His strength was beyond her imagination.
Inside the Far East Magic School, the temperature was extremely low. Flames began to burn on Lind’s body, dispelling the biting cold wind attacking him like sharp needles.
The surface of his skin crackled continuously under the piercing cold wind.
With a guide, navigating the school that was frozen from the inside became much easier for Lind.
"They must have conducted another magic experiment."
Sensing that some might have perished due to an experiment, Selena offered her judgment.
In front of a spacious laboratory, Lind raised his hand and grabbed the door, his five fingers piercing into the wood like pickaxes, tearing down the frozen door.
Cold air billowed out, freezing the flames on Lind’s body in an instant.
He shook his body, the flames shattered like broken glass, falling and breaking on the ground before reigniting.
Inside, shadows in wizard robes stood, their expressions frozen as they were in life, but now completely lifeless.
"All of them are holding Magic Ring Fragment Weapons."
As Lind surveyed the wizards, he noted that each had a magic ring shard or weapons crafted from it.
An unprecedented great harvest.
However, as Lind broke open an ice statue to retrieve something, the fierce cold lashed at his neck like a knife.
Completely unstoppable.
His body was injured, and his lava-like blood began to freeze, threatening to drag him into the icy hell, turning him into another human-shaped statue.
As he continuously raised his body temperature and transformed into a giant, he stomped, slowing the frost from climbing up his body. His body smashed through walls that were as brittle as glass.
Lind could smell his burning body as the ground cracked beneath him, and his own body, entirely numb and frozen, stumbled and fell onto the icy ground.
There was no sound from Selena.
Turning his head, he realized that even the ghostly Selena had been frozen by the terrifying cold. When Lind broke through the wall, the unleashed cold swept out.
Like a hellish demon baring its fangs and claws, it crawled towards him without stopping.
Lind struggled to stand, barely able to breathe as the frozen air entered his body. The white mist behind him, like a dancing girl, clung to him.
It wasn’t until he left the building that housed the laboratory that he dared to consider himself safe.
He watched as the entire structure became completely encased in ice.
