Chapter 540: Chapter 435: Someone’s Here to Poach Again

Wilderness Ruins, Corrupted Domain.

The human noblewoman in a long dress tread upon her high boots, surrounded by salivating beasts eyeing her covetously.

Armored Knights wielding weapons guarded her on both sides.

The troop stretched out lengthily, from the scorching sand and hot winds of Wilderness Ruins all the way to the Red Swamp of the Corrupted Domain, tinged with the scent of blood.

But this was the last refuge they could find.

Being in the Magic Land, they found out about the impending shattering of the Ring of Magic before others and had even started collecting fragments of the Ring of Magic before that.

All Gods might slumber, All Gods might die, but Divine Power would not vanish; instead, it would transform into other forms and continue to exist.

Like those known as "Blessed Weapons" and "Cursed Weapons," they held different powers – perhaps not necessarily strong – yet in some way represented the existence of the Ring of Magic, bearing symbolic significance.

Fleeing to the Beastman territory was actually an act of desperation.

The people of the three continents regarded the Ring of Magic as the source of their power, while the human inhabitants of the Magic Land saw it as a Seal.

With the shattering of the Ring of Magic and the collapse of the Seal, and the disappearance of the main deities worshiped by humans, coupled with the frequent emergences of entities like the Beastmaster and other Evil Gods, the entire Magic Land was thrown into complete chaos.

Here, nothing was rare, and all could be found.

For the humans of the Magic Land, the Calamities that emerged due to the complete collapse of the Ring of Magic had utterly corrupted the former human warriors, who now stood opposite humanity, leaving only escape as an option.

Ascending the stone steps, the human noblewoman raised her hand to signal the Guardian Knights behind her to stop.

She lifted her dress so that the trailing hem would not be stepped on by her boots and then hastened her steps into the great hall.

Before the massive throne at the end of the great hall,

there stood a person who looked very similar to her.

The Corrupt King was willing to accept the fleeing humans of the Magic Land because the Beast King was a human noblewoman’s aunt.

"Our Astrologer has seen the danger that is bound to occur," the human noblewoman stated plainly, eyeing the figure beside her, curled up with three Corrupted Beasts.

Known as the Corrupt King, possessing wolves, lions, and bears, and wielding the strength of six circles, she was powerful enough to dominate a region.

The Corrupt King gently lifted a lock of hair from her temples and tucked it behind her ear, then bent over to gently stroke the head of the wolf, "My dear, you are very safe here. Don’t worry about those things, I will take good care of you."

"Aunt... Corrupt King, as you know, I am the last Watcher of humankind."

"But the cell has already shattered, has it not?" said the Corrupt King, "Here you can live like a Princess, instead of just bearing the title and worrying about the unknown dangers every day."

"The Astrologer has seen stars falling!" declared the human noblewoman, "They saw death in the stars, an endless number of deaths."

"How much longer?"

"Thirty years later."

The answer surprised the Corrupt King; she suddenly looked up, and the bear and lion likewise raised their heads, fixating their beastly gaze on the noblewoman, who instinctively stepped back half a step.

But after the Corrupt King lightly tapped the heads of the two beasts, they immediately lowered them, the bear licking its paws, and the lion yawning out of boredom.

"Can the Astrologer see that far into the future?"

"It’s just one potential future, a crisis powerful enough to sweep across the world," said the noblewoman somewhat helplessly, looking at her aunt. She could not address her as family here, although everyone could tell they were related by blood, but suspecting and recognizing the truth were different matters.

Seeing her aunt lower her head again, focused on petting the wolf, the noblewoman continued, "Even if we don’t look at such a distant future, with the Ring of Magic shattered, the Demon Lord is just one of those who escaped. I can’t be certain if the falling stars in the sky are also related to the broken Seal, or if there are other forces at play within the Seal."

"My dear, that is the Ring of Magic," the Corrupt King spoke in a tender tone that could melt flesh and blood, "The Three Gods have gone into their eternal slumber, entities like the Beastmaster... I can’t say too much, but their strength is far from enough to create a new Ring of Magic. It seems we have two choices: either forge a new Ring of Magic to restore order, or wait quietly for the onset of a new era; but as you know, all we can do is await the new era."

"So, your way of welcoming the new era is to conspire with the Abyss?" the human noblewoman questioned indignantly.

She knew only by doing so could she force her aunt to reveal some truth.

But it was only a fraction of it.

"The Dominus will not kindly lend us his power," the Corrupt King lowered her head, gently touching the three beasts beside her, "Look at them, aren’t they lovely?"

"To regard disease as a form of strength," the noblewoman shook her head, disapproving.

"After life has completely decayed, rebirth will come. My dear, corruption is not just a disease; it might seem no different from a plague, but in reality, it can make you better."

"Perhaps."

The noblewoman gazed deeply at the three beasts.

Then she spoke of her other plans, "I want to establish contact with humans from the Material Plane."

Her aunt, now the "Beast King," had gradually departed from her human identity. She would no longer align her interests with humanity. To a Heretic Cultist, an era of chaos was an excellent time to fish in troubled waters.
