Chapter 176: Chapter 162 Area to be Unlocked and Ezio Assassin’s Outfit?
Star Dragon City had officially opened to the public, and all the Undead were able to enter.
Over two hundred Undead flocked to the city initially, including those who had initially refused to join the Star Dragon faction.
The sparse Star Dragon City was not filled with NPCs; the scattered, strange shapes wandering the streets were mostly players.
However, almost all the Undead naturally harbored a fondness for this city.
This was a city that the Undead had built themselves, down to every brick and tile, but that wasn’t the direct cause of their fondness.
After various hardships and dangers, by building the city themselves, they felt like they were reconstructing their home after a chaotic war, which also made the Undead fill with a sense of identity towards the city.
Though the reconstructed homeland mimicked the style of the Victorian Era, with elongated houses and dense buildings, other than that, there were no shortcomings, as the Rand Kingdom had no rigid aesthetic requirements beyond the color gold, thus accommodating everything.
"Was this place originally like this?" two Undead strolled and exclaimed in surprise from time to time.
Star Dragon City was their handcrafted main city, they should have been familiar with every corner of this city, yet as the Undead walked around, the city felt increasingly strange.
The architectural style had not changed, but many corners of the main city now featured notice boards or other small decorations which completely altered the feel of Star Dragon City.
Take the square for example.
The square was an ever-present critical part, located in the central area. From the square, one could reach any area of the main city, acting like a spiderweb linking various unrelated areas.
The Undead had imagined hosting celebratory gatherings here after victorious battles, a vast square that could easily accommodate thousands of people; even if all the Undead from the current beta phase were gathered, it would not be filled.
In the middle was a bizarre concrete pond without flowing water, where one could see the concrete bottom, and falling from this height at Level 11 would likely result in death.
The pond had been part of the original design from the start of construction, but even until the opening of Star Dragon City, the Undead had not figured out its purpose.
However, one thing was certain—it was not a decorative feature, but surely tied to unlocking some future main city function, indicated by a brightly written sign that read: [Feature Not Yet Unlocked, Please Look Forward To It—Star Dragon City, Lind Armand]
It was such a sign that sparked intense curiosity about the otherwise unremarkable pond among the Undead. What could it possibly unlock?
Curious but clueless, it felt as if hundreds of tiny cats were scratching at their hearts.
The same was true elsewhere; during construction, things that seemed unimpressive changed the moment a notice board was put in front of them.
The emergence of guilds was no different, a very cliché concept, yet it successfully met the role-playing needs of the Undead.
No need for lengthy explanations, the Undead could tell at a glance what guilds were for and naturally went inside to accept tasks.
Lind’s move separated the territory’s task system from the Lord’s authority.
From then on, people would go to the guilds instead of the administrative hall to receive tasks, while the administrative hall focused on managing territory affairs.
The presence of the Lord concerned the development of the entire territory, and now he had over 2000 NPCs under him—more than ten times the number of Undead, and these were genuinely Lind’s own strength.
As a Lord, he should even more wholeheartedly plan for the future of the territory’s residents.
Moreover, the development of the territory would inevitably be more comprehensive... providing more comprehensive services.
After all, the premise for improving the lives of the native residents of the territory was harmonious relations with the Undead, who were indispensable as runners and foot soldiers by the side of the era’s protagonist; deliberately distancing from the Undead would be counterproductive.
This group would inevitably spread across every corner of the world; you could hide in a "bugged" map, but the Undead would still find you.
Only by both sides offering what the other needed could real harmony be achieved.
If Star Dragon were to be built into the best NPC territory in the industry, like a famous amusement park, it would definitely attract a continuous stream of Undead.
A good territory must have clear divisions of labor, instead of every NPC wearing multiple hats, sticky and unclear about everything.
Functions must be singular, and efficiency must be higher.
There was also a huge stone monument in the square, recording the ID of each Undead who participated in building Star Dragon City. In just a short while, many had gathered around the monument, pointing and counting one by one, searching for their names.
Being valued by game NPCs and having one’s name recorded was an exhilarating experience for players, indicating respect from the game’s officials.
Although Lind, this official, might not be so official, it didn’t matter as long as he wasn’t flagged for misconduct, no one could point out anything wrong.
A squad of Undead entered Star Dragon City; they were the Undead who had left Leon City initially and had not joined Lind’s forces.
Compared to the Undead wearing Lion Badges, their demeanor was noticeably less composed upon entering.
"Damn, this style, this architecture, if you say it didn’t copy London’s Big Ben, I’ll eat the clock."
"Can you even call that copying in game production? That’s tribute!"
After all, they didn’t build it themselves, so every part looked interesting.
That’s what happens when you let Undead build; nothing rigid—no matter how many restrictions are placed, they’ll create something flashy.
This squad of Undead, not belonging to the Star Dragon faction, kept wandering between territories but had yet to find a force that could accommodate them.
Meanwhile, the New Nobility Undead of Leon Territory, who had been defeated alongside them initially, had since transformed, not only possessing the game’s only mount, the Catastrophe Warhorse, but also changing classes at will.
But to say they regretted not joining the Star Dragon faction would be an overstatement.
There were thousands of ways to play the game, and if everyone had to join the Star Dragon faction, then from the very beginning, all Undead should have been forced to join.
Some people preferred to go with the flow, while others liked to explore on their own, willing to endure hardships rather than play like they were on an assembly line.
Since Star Dragon City was fully open to outsiders, they definitely wanted to take a tour around the Main City.
"You can buy houses in the residential area, or even build your own? Wait, do you have to use faction points to buy them?"
Well, that made sense.
They only logged off when they needed to sleep; they didn’t really need a house.
"Handwritten mission scrolls, and if you lose them, you fail the mission?"
That also made sense. Previously, when they took on missions in Leon City, everything depended on what the NPC said, and often they couldn’t quite remember the details. They had to pay close attention and the rewards were always vague. Unlike in Star Dragon City, where the mission content and rewards were written down on paper.
They wanted to pick up a mission carelessly, and while missions were readily available, they soon discovered that many missions rewarded faction points upon completion.
The Undead squad discussed in low voices, "It always feels like we’re being shortchanged."
"Yeah, we’re not part of the Star Dragon faction, but we can still take on missions, yet the rewards don’t include points."
Not being part of the Star Dragon faction means no Lion Badge, and naturally, no way to earn point rewards.
The faction points store had so many good items, and the Star Dragon people had more than once shown off on the forums.
Not earning points was one thing, but now that there were missions that could earn points but they couldn’t have them due to faction issues, it felt like losing out on a lot of good stuff.
Points equated to the Catastrophe Warhorse, limited edition clothes, various Magic Potions, and more...
"The Lion Badge looks really useful, it even has a mini-map feature." Someone in the squad was already tempted.
But the vast majority were steadfast—just some more convenient mini-features, nothing important.
They weren’t about to easily switch sides and join the Star Dragon faction!
The Magic Potion Shop had already opened, and the range on display was a bit dazzling. They remembered when this area was still under the control of Leon Territory, all they could see on the shelves were a few scattered potions, always sold out, with absolutely no concept of service.
Now, looking at Star Dragon City’s Magic Potion Shop, the supply was extremely plentiful.
"Come on, let’s go check out the tailor shop."
Compared to missions and rewards, it seemed checking out the new clothing was more appealing; the much-coveted pleated skirts from before made many people envious.
They now actually wanted to buy a little skirt themselves.
And the robes, very much like those of Harry Potter wizards, greatly satisfied the Undead’s inner joy of cosplay.
When they arrived at the tailor shop, they discovered that a number of Undead had already gathered there, excitedly chatting about how this update was totally worth it.
The outside of the tailor shop featured a specially designed glass showcase area.
Huge floor-to-ceiling windows displayed a set of clothes.
A wooden mannequin was dressed in a white robe, next to it a sign read "New today: Exclusive attire for Mystic Rune Messengers."
Mystic Rune Messenger?
"Wait, isn’t this the Ezio outfit?"
A white robe with a hood, red collar turned outwards, a cape over one shoulder, and leather boots reaching to the calves.
The image of a Master Assassin appeared before their eyes.
"Wow, they really did a crossover!"
Lind Dezhen truly was The Officials’ favored son; other territories yearned for the accessories and outfits that Star Dragon had yet another crossover with, now the second round.
They were tempted, really tempted this time. No one could resist the allure of hoods and assassination, and the mention of "Mystic Rune Messenger" along with the Ezio outfit meant that the Undead really could change their profession to become Magic Assassins.
On the roadside, they pulled aside an Undead brother to ask, "Bro, do you know what a Mystic Rune Messenger is?"
"Mystic Rune Messenger?" The stopped Undead brother nodded, "Sure, the faction points store started offering exchange eligibility quite a while ago."
"Exchange eligibility?" The few became hungrier, "Have you exchanged yet?"
"Not yet, the price is too high. I still need a few more days of farming and mining to gather enough points." The Undead brother hurried off, eager to change his profession.
The Undead squad still had no plans to join Star Dragon; compared to that, just buying a set of clothes to enjoy for a while wasn’t a bad idea.
But upon entering the tailor shop, they were informed that such items required points to purchase, were not for sale to the general public, and only Mystic Rune Messengers could buy them.
It was attire exclusive to after changing professions.
"I suddenly think joining Star Dragon isn’t such a bad idea," an Undead suddenly spoke up, the others remained silent, but their eyes sparkled unanimously with overwhelming temptation.
