Chapter 214 - 214 214 Hunting Selene
214: Chapter 214: Hunting Selene 214: Chapter 214: Hunting Selene “Amy, how far are we from the Moon God Temple?” Selene asked.
The Moon God Temple atop the Holy Mountain was the destination of their journey.
Before they set out, Amy unexpectedly obtained a map of the Holy Mountain’s Moon God Temple, which delighted Selene.
If they could find an opportunity in the Moon God Temple and obtain treasures, it would be possible to enhance their strength, which is why Selene and her companions were heading straight for the Moon God Temple without any rest.
“About half an hour’s journey, I guess,” Amy, who was leading the way ahead, said.
“Then let’s make haste,” urged Selene.
The group was walking through a vast forest, with tree trunks that were more than thirty meters tall, lush with branches and leaves, more reminiscent of a rainforest, and seemingly endless.
“My Lord, the path ahead seems a bit strange,” Ji Qian suddenly said, informing Selene of her skepticism.
“Amy, are you sure you didn’t take the wrong path?” Selene also noticed something was off about the path ahead; the rainforest was intricate and complex, nothing like what was described on the map.
“No, my Lord, let me check again,” Amy assured her, looking around the woods.
The Holy Mountain had special conditions that made it impossible to use electronic positioning devices; without navigation, they could only rely on a traditional compass.
Unbeknownst to the group, as they followed Amy’s lead, countless pairs of eyes in the depths of the forest were watching them.
“Boss, did you see that Huaxia beauty following Selene?
She is absolutely stunning,” Ghost started to chat with Ye Shikai as they walked, and when the conversation turned to Ji Qian, Ghost’s leering look disgusted Ye Shikai.
“I saw her, so what?” Ye Shikai said indifferently.
“I’ve secretly inquired about her; it seems she’s related to a major family in Huaxia,” Ghost said.
“Why do you care so much about her?” Ye Shikai asked.
“Haha, if you like her, Boss, I could help you ask Selene about it,” Ghost perked up immediately.
“So young, yet already favored by Selene; it seems her aspirations must be quite high,” Ye Shikai reflected on the incredibly beautiful woman he had just seen as if talking to himself.
“Boss, there’s a fork in the road ahead, one to the left and one to the right.
Which one shall we take?” Suddenly, Ghost pointed to the diverging paths ahead.
Ye Shikai observed the paths before them; the left side was a main road that appeared very comfortable, while the right side was a narrow path.
Ye Shikai sharply detected a faint murderous intent on the path…
“Since we’ve come to the Holy Mountain, let’s take a risk,” Ye Shikai’s mouth curled slightly, and a killing intent gleamed in his eyes.
In the forest.
Selene’s party kept moving, but soon Selene realized something was seriously wrong.
They had been walking for nearly an hour, yet they still hadn’t left the forest, much less seen the shadow of the Moon God Temple.
“Amy, what’s happening?” Selene’s face was grim; this path clearly didn’t lead to the Moon God Temple.
“My lord, I…”
“Lord, watch out!” Before Amy could finish, Ji Qian suddenly shouted.
She pushed Selene aside, and as she turned her body, a flash of golden light grazed Ji Qian’s sleeve and then shot straight towards the large tree behind them.
With a thunderous crash, the massive tree, which would take several people to encircle, was effortlessly split in two, leaving Ji Qian in awe at its power.
“Apollo, show yourself!” Selene abandoned her usual grace and cursed outright.
She was well aware of the front-and-back relations with the Main Gods, but she had not anticipated such a rapid turn of events, and even less so an ambush.
“Selene, we meet again.” Behind a large tree, a man stepped out slowly.
With a Sun God Bow in hand, the newcomer was none other than the Sun God, Apollo.
The golden flash had been a golden arrow.
“I can’t believe you, as a Main God, would stoop so low.” Selene cursed vehemently; Apollo had been aiming to kill with that shot.
“The one who aspires to great achievements doesn’t quibble over trifles; especially when it comes to dealing with a Main God, a surprise attack is of course the best strategy.” Apollo laughed unabashedly, the epitome of unscrupulousness.
“What are you trying to do?” Selene stared warily at Apollo, tightly gripping her gem-encrusted magic wand.
“Of course, to eliminate you.” Another voice rang out from behind a different tree.
Selene was very familiar with this voice—it was the Fire God, Hephesto.
Two Main Gods were joining forces against her.
“Ji Qian, take the others and get out of here quickly,” Selene whispered to Ji Qian.
“Still thinking of escaping?” Hephesto laughed with disdain, lifting the Fire God Hammer in his hand.
“Fire God Spell—Fiery Fire.” From the Fire God Hammer, a pillar of fire erupted, surrounding everyone and cutting off their retreat path.
It being a rainforest with dense branches and foliage, the fire quickly climbed up the trunks and branches, forming trees of fire and further blocking any means of escape.
“Selene, you are certain to die today.” Hephesto, with a ferocious look, wielded the Fire God Hammer and charged headlong.
“Moonlight Formation.” Selene waved her magic wand and a silver array slowly descended over everyone’s heads.
Hephesto’s attack began to slow down.
Selene swung her wand at Hephesto; both their weapons were Divine Artifacts.
The colossal clash of their two forces sent out powerful blasts of air that knocked everyone back.
“Apollo, do it now!” Hephesto hadn’t expected Selene’s will to fight to be so tenacious and urged Apollo to act.
Instantly, Apollo pulled the bowstring of the Sun God Bow.
Three arrows cut through the wind.
Unexpectedly, Ji Qian stepped forward.
Drawing her protective longsword, she deflected the three arrows with a light flick.
Apollo was taken aback.
This was a Divine Artifact, and he had always thought of Ji Qian as a young girl still wet behind the ears.
Yet she had easily caught those three arrows—her talent was truly exceptional.
“Amy, go help Lord Moon God.
I’ll handle Apollo,” Ji Qian said to Amy, thrusting her longsword straight towards Apollo.
“Sun God Spell—Radiant Divine Arrow.” Apollo drew the bowstring and launched a Main God Skill; a bright, blinding arrow flew out.
Ji Qian sidestepped and avoided the arrow, only for it to circle back and continue targeting her.
“It’s useless, this arrow never misses its target unless you block it,” said Apollo, sporting a confident smile.
If even a just-emerged cultivator could defeat Apollo, the Main God would be too feeble.
Regardless of how Ji Qian dodged, the arrow kept on her trail.
She focused her Inner Strength on her longsword and, with a spin, stabbed toward the arrow.
