Chapter 121 - 121 121 She is My Wife
121: Chapter 121 She is My Wife 121: Chapter 121 She is My Wife Ye Shikai’s figure moved quickly, ducking behind a counter.
By now, those four had noticed him, which was precisely his intention—to attract their attention and ensure the safety of those inside.
If he had a gun, he could definitely overpower them, and even without one, as long as no one interfered, he could eliminate them in a matter of seconds.
However, there were quite a few clerks and customers present; if they were taken hostage by the robbers, things would get complicated.
“You two, go pack the jewelry.
You, take out that kid, and remember, we must capture the person the boss wants.” The leader-like gunman instructed his three companions.
Although his voice was low and he was far from Ye Shikai, relying on his Inner Strength, Ye Shikai could hear their conversation clearly.
Who was this “person” the leader referred to?
Could it be that these men weren’t just here to rob the jewelry and jade?
Ye Shikai stealthily observed two of the gunmen as they approached the counter, taking large sacks from their backs and stuffing them with jewelry and jade, their faces filled with excitement as if they were on stimulants.
They filled two entire large sacks, and Ye Shikai inwardly cursed—he estimated the bags’ contents to be worth at least a billion.
However, the leader was wandering among the people, looking around as if searching for someone, seemingly indifferent to the jewelry in the counters.
They were definitely using the robbery as a cover to kidnap someone from the crowd.
Ye Shikai watched a gunman slowly approach the counter he was hiding behind.
He planned to take out that man first and then, taking advantage of the element of surprise and his speed by using his Inner Strength, quickly handle the remaining three assailants.
Five steps, four, three, two, one—now was the time.
“Attention inside, this is Yanjing’s special police.
You are surrounded.
Drop your weapons and surrender immediately.” Just as Ye Shikai leaped out, a voice from a megaphone rang out from outside.
The special police arrived unexpectedly fast.
Upon hearing the voice outside, the gunman in front of Ye turned his gun towards the entrance and took cover.
Ye Shikai also took the opportunity to pop his head out and survey the situation.
“Damn it,” the leader cursed as he hurried his search through the crowd.
When his eyes fell upon Shi Chengyu and Tang Yun, Ye Shikai’s heart also leaped.
The leader glanced at Tang Yun and then Shi Chengyu, his face showing a fleeting sign of pleasure upon resting his gaze on the latter—a detail missed by others but seen by Ye Shikai.
The leader quickly grabbed Shi Chengyu by the neck, using his body as a shield.
Tang Yun attempted to intervene but was shoved to the ground by the leader.
He gestured to the two jewelry thieves and the gunman nearby, and all three immediately shouldered their bags and headed towards the door.
“Listen up, police outside.
We have hostages.
Bring an armored vehicle to the entrance in half an hour, or I’ll start shooting the hostages,” the leader shouted, punctuating his demand with two shots fired at the ceiling.
Outside the store, a team of fully-armed special police was already in position, and the traffic police had blocked off the surrounding area.
Captain Lin Dong from Yanjing’s special police was personally overseeing the operation.
“Captain, let’s storm in,” one special policeman said.
“No, they’ve already taken hostages, and we’re still unclear on the situation inside,” Lin Dong responded with hesitation, clearly torn.
Stubbornly opposed to giving in to terrorists, he was also acutely aware that the hostages were waiting for police rescue.
Then, a police car slowly parked behind Lin Dong, and a man and woman got out.
“How is the situation, Old Lin?” It was Song Tian, who had rushed over immediately upon receiving the news.
“It’s not good.
The criminals have taken hostages, and they’re armed,” Lin Dong said, visibly worried.
“Captain Lin, Officer Zhang Ting, requesting to join the rescue operation.” At that moment, another figure caught Lin Dong’s eye—it was the fiery policewoman, Zhang Ting.
“Zhang Ting, you are now in traffic police, stop causing a stir,” Lin Dong said impatiently, his mood already tense.
“Captain Lin, I have the best marksmanship in all of Yanjing’s police force.
I am confident I can complete the mission,” Zhang Ting quickly presented her case, as she had been reassigned to traffic police after an interrogation incident where she injured a suspect.
“Alright, go get changed into your gear,” Lin Dong finally conceded, unable to resist Zhang Ting’s insistence, especially with Song Tian standing beside him.
“Thank you, Captain Lin.
I promise to complete the mission,” Zhang Ting said, delighted at the opportunity to finally spring into action after being suppressed for so long.
Inside the store.
Seeing Shi Chengyu taken away, Tang Yun grew desperate and, disregarding the gunmen’s barrels, attempted to pull Shi back.
“This woman is really annoying.
Take her with you,” the leader commanded.
Ye Shikai inwardly cursed—Tang Yun was really messing things up; originally they only wanted Shi Chengyu, now there were two hostages, complicating his intervention.
He had to act.
“Hey, big brothers, take me instead,” Ye Shikai suddenly stood up and called out to the robbers, shocking everyone including Tang Yun and Shi Chengyu.
“Kid, what are you trying to pull,” one gunman pointed his gun at him, very cautious.
“She’s my wife.
Let me switch places with her,” Ye Shikai gave a reason, claiming Tang Yun as his wife to avoid suspicion from the robbers, wondering why he’d willingly offer himself up.
If the robbers agreed to the exchange, it would increase his chances of overpowering them.
“Don’t come any closer,” Tang Yun yelled back at him.
The leader had a thought and then said, “Since you wish to be a pair of daredevil lovers, I’ll grant your wish.” With that, he marched Ye Shikai over, Ye internally sighing in regret, as these bastards refused to let Tang Yun go.
