Chapter 273: Chapter 185 Hua Mountain: The Most Treacherous Mountain Under Heaven

"May Heaven bless you, you’ve finally arrived."

Upon seeing Li Yan, Manager Wan immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

He glanced around, shook his head, and whispered, "I’ve led people up the mountain, and all along the way there’s been news. That bounty has attracted a lot of ruffians from the green forest, all searching for you."

"These past few days I’ve been on tenterhooks, constantly having people keep an eye out for information; it wasn’t until last night that I knew you had ascended the mountain."

Li Yan apologized, "I was held up by some matters yesterday and didn’t manage to find Manager Wan earlier, I hope you’ll forgive me."

"As long as you’re safe on the mountain, there’s no need for such formalities between us," Manager Wan said, shaking his head.

"Let’s not stand at the door anymore, let’s go inside and talk." Li Yan said with a slight smile, gesturing for the group to enter the Wangxian Temple.

Inside the guest room, natural greetings and pleasantries were exchanged among everyone.

Yuan Ba admired the comfortable and elegant room with a click of the tongue, his eyes full of envy, "Brother Li, you’re living too comfortably here; pity us, we’ve really suffered these past few days."

Li Yan was surprised, "Hua Mountain is so beautifully majestic, how did you suffer?"

As soon as Yuan Ba heard this, he immediately complained, "There are too many people coming, those from the orthodox sects and Magic Veins have places to stay. We from the side door are not so welcome, only able to set up tents and sleep on the ground."

"To make matters worse, it’s been freezing at night like we’re ghosts; my master’s rheumatism has even flared up..."

Speaking of which, he quickly glanced around, put on a flattering smile and said, "Brother Li, seeing as you have such a wide network, could you perhaps pull some strings to let us, master and disciple, also stay here?"

His master immediately changed his expression upon hearing this and scolded, "Hold your tongue! You shameless thing."

Li Yan heard this and could only shake his head with a wry smile, "To be frank, it is only through the connections of our elders that we are staying here, and it’s not right to trouble others."

Of course, he would not mention it was due to the suppression of the Drought Demon, as it was a matter of great importance, and surely Chunyang Palace did not want to make it public to avoid gossip.

Inside the main hall of the Wangxian Temple, where Yu Fengzi was meditating and burning incense, his ears twitched and he overheard their entire conversation.

Seeing Li Yan discreetly handle the situation gave rise to a surge of good feelings in his heart.

Manager Wan then took the opportunity to change the subject, looking troubled, "The reason I rushed to see Young Hero Li is that there has been a complication with a matter."

Li Yan’s brow furrowed as he asked, "What matter?"

Manager Wan said helplessly, "I had made arrangements with that old fellow, but he fell suddenly ill, confined to bed and unable to come to Hua Mountain; he probably won’t be able to light the forge anytime soon."

"Please convey to that elder that his health is of the utmost importance," Li Yan consoled, yet he couldn’t help furrowing his brow slightly.

He had many tasks to accomplish on this mountain journey.

First was purchasing Spiritual Objects to help a few people remake their Magic Artifacts.

Second was constructing a tower by leveraging the Cave Heaven Spirit Aperture.

Especially since his family heirloom sword was damaged, he had always been using a knife he snatched from Yao San; though forged from fine steel and tempered a hundred times, it still didn’t quite suit him.

This time, he wanted to create a Magic Artifact blade.

Normal craftsmen couldn’t take on such a job, but Manager Wan had helped by introducing an elder from the craftsmen, the same one who lifted the Divine Tower.

They had arranged to come up the mountain together, but who would have expected him to fall ill suddenly? This would likely delay his plans.

But such favors were given by others; how could one be reproachful?

Seeing Manager Wan still feeling guilty, Li Yan consoled him and then turned to look at Yuan Ba and his master, smiling, "Have you two come here for something?"

His relationship with these two was nothing more than a brief encounter; although he had acquired a treasure from Yuan Ba, they had also fought a battle, hardly making their relationship close.

Now that they were visiting, there had to be another reason.

Sure enough, Yuan Ba’s master bowed and said gravely, "I have not yet introduced myself. My name is Quan Wanzhong, a peripheral branch of the Mei Mountain lineage."

"I’ve come to Hua Mountain this time in search of a spiritual material called white copper. I wish to establish an Ancestor Altar and become the sub-court of Mei Mountain."

"Everything else is ready, only this material is in short supply. Presumptuously, I have a rather impolite request, hoping that you could spare us some so I could purchase more."

Yuan Ba also followed with a bow and a smile, "My master is too modest and had to be dragged here by me."

"Once the treasury is opened, the orthodox sects and Magic Veins will take their pick, and probably not much will be left. If we were to scramble for what remains, the price would surely rise."

"My master and I cannot afford such prices, so we are humbly asking for your esteemed group to show us some leniency; otherwise, the Ancestor’s magic platform might not be established."

"This is something I can help with."

Li Yan replied with a smile, "To be honest, I am somewhat of an orthodox sect member and will be among the first to enter for purchases; I will do my best to help you procure what you need."

Hearing this, Quan Wanzhong was overjoyed and quickly said, "That’s even better; I’ll trouble Young Hero Li then. I need fifty pounds. I’ll go back now to get the money and deliver it before the vault is opened."

With that, he bid hasty farewell and left.

The master and disciple duo had not gone far from the Wangxian Temple when Yuan Ba suddenly asked, "What’s with this Li Yan? How did he even get to stay in the Wangxian Temple, reserved for inner courtyard elders, and be among the first to enter? Many orthodox disciples are still squeezed together in the large dormitories."

Hearing this, Quan Wanzhong slapped his head hard, scolding, "How many times have I told you, when you’re out in the pugilistic world, don’t meddle in other’s affairs."

"Especially not the secrets of others. If Li Yan has a way, that’s a favor to us. Think of a way to repay it in the future. If you keep running your mouth, you might turn this good relationship into animosity."

"Right, right, right... Master speaks wisely!"

Yuan Ba cheekily agreed.

"Sigh," Quan Wanzhong shook his head at him.

To be honest, he himself wasn’t good at socializing and had the thought of establishing an Ancestor Altar once they settled, to have someone who was good at talking.

But he never expected his disciple to be so glib and so thick-skinned.

He just hoped that with more experience, his disciple would become more reliable in speaking and conducting affairs.
