Chapter 93: Lucas: Antidote

"YES. All of it is true. Bella literally begged me not to tell anyone but I’m surprised she told you first that backstabbing bitch," Iris clenches my phone with a fiery burn in her eyes. I almost feel pity for Bella.

"So you weren’t going to tell me?"

Iris opens her mouth to speak but then she closes it and nods. I’m left speechless too. I can’t believe I’m getting offended by such a trivial matter.

"Is there something else you’re not telling me?" I ask after taking in a low breath.

"No," Iris replies instantly. "Unless you wanna talk about work that is."

"I’m talking about us. We’re now a real couple remember?" I add a little bit more emphasis on the real couple phrase just so it sinks in better.

"If I didn’t remember I wouldn’t be letting you kiss me in your office any time of the day like you please."

I nod in agreement.

"I get where you’re coming from though. Must have been a shock when you heard we put a bet on you like that. Are you offended?"

"No. I’m a bit surprised that’s all. Make sure to win that bet, okay, I can’t be getting stolen by someone when the woman I love is right in front of me," I joke.

"You bet I will. Don’t you remember who it is that chased away your stalker with just her sharp mouth?"

"I do," I mumble to myself, running my hands on her back again. I don’t know if it’s because this is my first relationship or because it’s office romance but I can’t relax.

Every time I see Iris and it doesn’t matter where, I want to touch her. I want to pull her closer to me, tell her how much I love her, and kiss her everywhere. I want to be the only one she thinks about even when she’s working. I want more of her.

I’m getting greedy with her.

A loud sigh from Iris snaps me back to reality.

"What’s bothering you so much you had to sigh whilst I hug you?"

"Do it," she commands wrapping her hands around my neck. I trail my hands up her ass until they’re on her waist, cupping it and kissing her on the forehead.

"What?"

"Kiss me."

"But I just did a while ago."

"And you look like you want more," Iris looks me directly in the eyes. Her gaze feels divine as though it’s penetrating inside my mind and reading it bones and all. It should make me uncomfortable when she does that but thinking she can read my mind feels somewhat like an antidote to me.

"How did you know?" I whisper in a low deep voice and feel her shiver in my arms with excitement.

"It runs in my family. We can read minds like books. Now hurry up and do it before the others start getting suspicious and come here."

Her small hands on my face feel like home as she drags my head lower to her face so I can kiss her. Like it’s the very first time, all the blood in my body rushes to my face when our lips crash. I can feel the heat in her mouth when she opens it to let my tongue enter so they can intertwine with hers and do the lovely dance that sends us moaning in each other’s mouths.

We stand like that for a few minutes, tasting and savoring each other’s taste like chefs on a delicacy-seeking journey. I know I’ll never be this intoxicated with another woman other than Iris ever again. She’s the only one for me. My queen.

"You better win that bet you hear?" I say in her mouth as we catch our breaths. Iris responds by grabbing my face and giving me one fat kiss on the lips before smiling after breaking us apart.

"Don’t you worry about sir. I’ve got everything under control."

A loud thud hits my chest when she calls me sir and I hold my chest. Then I feel it. Something running in my nose and onto my upper lip. Raising my hand to cover it I try to make out what it is until a drop flows from my face to the ground.

Iris notices it at the same time I look down. My eyes grow wide when I see the small black dot on the cream tiles. I’m about to lower myself to take a closer look when I feel Iris’ hands grabbing my shoulders and stopping me from going down any further.

"See? I told you you’d bleed out from blushing too much," she laughs. "Manga never lies. Wait here okay?"

I nod as she scrambles her way out of my office to her desk. I watch her through my window whilst she rummages her bag and throws it back on her chair, producing a roll of tissue paper and wipers.

She’s smiling at herself during all this ordeal and I can’t help but want to see her like that all the time. I want to see her happy like this. I want to protect that smile, but I can’t control what happens in her life and that’s more annoying.

For now, I have to deal with Bella. The posts and captions she’s using in this "social media coaching session" are just a shallow excuse so she can get the internet to ship us together. It’s already happening and judging by how our conversation went when I asked her to stop, I think this will continue for the coming few weeks.

I have to take action soon or else by the time Iris and I go public, the internet’s favor will already be unbalanced.

"Shut up!" Iris calls out to someone in the office, waving a hand at them. After explaining something to them—probably about why she needs the toiletries, she rushes back into my office, grabs me by the shoulders, and makes me sit on the table before making me tip my chin up.

"Next time listen to me when I speak. Now looks at you having a nosebleed."

"How can I stop blushing when your face is close to mine? You made me like this so can’t you be a little bit more considerate."

Iris smugly smiles at me. "Well...since I’m the reason I can make an exception. Tell me anything you want from me and I’ll do it."

Ah. The gods must be in my favor. I was looking for a way to tell her this without sounding like I wanted to get in between her and Bellas bet.

"Anything?"

"Yes. Anything... as long as it’s legal."

Oh, it’s legal alright. Healthy even.

"Let’s go sign up for a couples gym membership after work today."
