The Billionaire's Ex-Wife Returns!
Chapter 15: A Future With Her

Chapter 15: A Future With Her

Mr. Leblanc leaned back in his chair and nodded. "On the day she fell, I asked Yvonne what happened. As her father, I had to know what exactly happened to my daughter. Yvonne hesitated at first, but she told me that it was your wife who pushed her from the stairs."

When the accident happened, Mr. Leblanc was on his way to the airport. He turned back immediately and questioned his daughter about what had happened.

Yvonne did not confess to anything. It hurt Mr. Leblanc to see his daughter protecting the criminal who had done this to her, and it angered him that his gentle and honest little girl learned how to lie!

So, he threatened Yvonne that he would send her to another country if she still didn’t tell him the truth.

In the end, she finally told him the truth!

"Landon, you’ve known Yvonne since you were a child. She would never lie!" Mr. Leblanc reminded him that Yvonne was not just someone but the girl he had known for a long time.

Had he not found something wrong with what Yvonne had told everyone, Landon would also believe her words.

Yvonne said that Lucy came looking for her first. Their conversation turned into a one-sided confrontation where Lucy finally lost control over herself and wanted to slap her. Yvonne said she ran away and became afraid of what Lucy could do to her. But they ended up on the stairs, and Lucy pushed her.

However, that did not make sense to him at all.

Lucy was not a violent person. Although two years were too short to accurately know a person’s real nature, Landon never doubted Lucy’s intentions and actions.

Moreover, Yvonne’s fall was just right in time when Landon returned home because he forgot his phone.

But at that time, Landon couldn’t see things right and was angry that the accident had happened between Lucy and Yvonne. But the thought of Lucy falling from the stairs filled his mind and scared him so much.

Fortunately, it was only Yvonne who had fallen, and Lucy was safe.

Landon took responsibility since it had happened on the Westwood family estate, hoping Lucy wouldn’t be impacted. But things derailed from what he had in mind.

"Indeed, I’ve known Yvonne for a long time." Landon nodded and agreed. "However, Lucy didn’t push Yvonne."

"You’re still insisting on this?" Mr. Leblanc asked incredulously. "Yvonne is the victim here, Landon. You should be taking her side!"

Mr. Leblanc was trying to make Landon feel guilty so he would give up.

He knew Landon all too well. He had a soft spot for Yvonne.

But today, Landon seemed determined to get what he wanted. "Whether I take her side or not is for me to decide." He paused for a second before he added warningly, "And right now, I want you to drop the charges against my wife."

Mr. Leblanc was somewhat frustrated. Angrily, he said, "What happened to you, Landon? I thought you loved my daughter. Weren’t you desperate to marry her back then? Do you think I’ll let you have my daughter after this?"

"Please don’t mention the things that happened two years ago," Landon said.

Mr. Leblanc was visibly flustered when Landon stood up and walked towards the door. He hurriedly stopped him and said, "Yvonne returned for you."

Landon stopped by the door and turned his head slightly to glance at him. He indifferently said, "She shouldn’t have."

Those words weren’t just something he said as a response.

Those were his true feelings.

...

After he left Mr. Leblanc’s office, Landon called his secretary to prepare him a new suit. He then headed straight for his office, where he bathed and kept himself clean.

Looking in the mirror, Landon rubbed the short stub that grew in just a couple of hours. His eyes were bloodshot after having not slept the entire night. He tried to sleep, of course. But the haunting feeling of sleeping alone in that bed he shared with Lucy made him lose the ability to sleep.

But that should end today.

Grabbing a new shave from the cupboard, Landon made himself look a bit better.

When he came out, the tired look he was sporting was gone, and the man that every woman wanted appeared. He walked across the bedroom adjacent to his office before moving to pick up the folded suit his secretary prepared for him as he had instructed.

Donning the fitted suit on his form, Landon went to his office with confidence and a chilling air around him.

His secretary, Alaric, was standing in front of his desk, looking less energetic, and pale, dark circles lined underneath his eyes, proving that he had met the same fate as his employer.

"Sir, as you’ve instructed, I’ve moved your scheduled meetings to tomorrow."

Landon nodded in satisfaction. He didn’t want anything or anyone distracting him on his way to meet Lucy. He wanted to see her alone and spend more time with her. He knew he messed up the moment the divorce agreement was brought out, but he was willing to fix that mistake.

He had Vanessa, Lucy’s best friend, inform her about meeting each other at the same spot they first met each other.

But for some reason, he felt nervous. What if Lucy doesn’t come?

Landon shook his negative thoughts away. She might be mad at him right now. But he can explain to her.

And the most important part was to tell her that he had changed his mind.

His revenge on Yvonne was no longer important to him. Truthfully, he had long moved on from her the moment he saw the pictures of her sleeping around with different men. He was just driven by the rage he felt for wasting all those years trying to pursue her only for Yvonne to play him like a rag toy. Thinking about it, Landon couldn’t help but feel everything was stupid. He had wasted his time on a woman who couldn’t leave behind what the world could offer and refused what he had to offer.

However, thanks to that, Landon met Lucy.

That was the most important thing.

And he was ready to live the future with her.
