Chapter 79: Chapter 79: UNTITLED
"That streamer really likes you a lot. What do you think about inviting her as a guest on the next episode?" a slightly chubby man with a potbelly asked excitedly as he looked at a calm young lady seated on a camping chair with a script in hand.
"Heh! You think that anyone can just come and appear on the show just because they like me?" the young lady snickered as she raised her head to face the eager man.
When the chubby man heard that, he scratched the back of his head embarrassingly, without being offended by the lady’s rude remarks.
"I ... you know how it is! Because of her, our show has been getting high rates. Don’t you know her at all?"
"Even if I know her, that is not a reason for you to just rush something like that. Have you ever asked if she was willing to do so or even appear in public?’
"But isn’t she already appearing in public?"
"Because of her own free will and not being induced. Anyway, reach out to her and if she likes it, then she will respond, but if she doesn’t, then there is nothing I can do."
When the chubby man heard that, he knew that he couldn’t let her understand everyone’s eagerness at that moment and she wasn’t also to be blamed.
In the end, he could only leave the lady to read her script as he pondered on how to get in touch with that streamer with a heavy heart.
Watching the man leave, Ashely sneered as she thought of how greedy these people were. In order to increase their ratings, they were even so daring to try to pull her sister to the show. Didn’t they see that she wasn’t well?
If she comes to the show, what would it be called?
Zara had to be taken care of every second. How could she survive and live in the wild when she was like that?
It wasn’t that she was looking down on her little sister, but she didn’t want to see anything happening to her.
It took Ashley a very long time to understand and accept everything Zara had done for her. All the remorse and guilt were nearly erased, and now she just wanted the best for her and nothing else.
Unless Zara wanted it, Ashely didn’t want to see her sister suffering. She didn’t understand the reason why her sister had to show herself like that online and let everyone see that vulnerable side of hers, but whatever the reason was, she was also grateful.
At least, she got to see that it wasn’t easy for the sister she was always envious of. Because they never got to see her in person, all that could be seen were the gifts and money constantly being given to her.
If she had known that Zara couldn’t even do anything by herself and had to be washed, spoon-fed and everything done for her like that, she wouldn’t have thrown a fit and made life harder for her parents.
She was indeed a fool and probably a jumping clown, otherwise, why would those half-siblings look at her as if she was a fool?
Talking about her little sister, Ashely felt grateful. If her sister hadn’t become willful to go on that road trip, how could she ever learn of all the things that were finally exposed to her?
She even learnt that her sister didn’t resent her but, in fact, liked her so much. Otherwise, why would she help her, boost her up when she was starting several years ago?
On top of that, Zara loved watching every show she was on and millions of people were always watching. Thanks to her, Ashely now had a lot of followers and her fanbase was also increasing. Wasn’t that something great?
’I guess I need to find something great for her birthday, otherwise I will be too ashamed to go there!’ she sighed with lament as she massaged her throbbing temples just thinking of the bash her third mother was planning for Zara.
’I might as well start as soon as possible!’
.....
Meanwhile, in a certain bedroom, a man was sitting on the bed, with several pillows cushioning him and beside him, a woman was sleeping soundly, the side where she was sleeping rising slowly once in a while.
In his hands, the man held a tablet with earbuds plugged into his ears, his eyes concentrating seriously on what he was seeing.
[I might be dying, but who knows?]
[I am feeling pretty well and I know that one day, I will be walking like any other person out there.]
On the screen, a young girl wearing thick clothes despite winter not yet serious could be seen declaring on several occasions regarding her health, but in every scene, she was always smiling as if she wasn’t talking about anything serious that involved her life.
’How did she do it?’ he couldn’t help but wonder as he looked at the girl, who looked rosier with each passing day.
He could still remember the last time he saw her. She looked very ghastly, like a ghost; her face pale and she looked so weak that the men he worked with, who swore to secrecy, had told him that there was no hope.
She was just hanging onto her dear life, but the real hope of her going further was no longer there. And yet after not seeing her for over a month, suddenly he saw her on her first broadcast. Imagine his shock when he saw the light in his life.
As a doctor and someone who had treated patients, and saw people dying and any other stages of a person most people aren’t aware of, he was literally shocked when he saw her.
She couldn’t get out of the house. Why? Because the air wasn’t good for her and would affect her system. But what was the same person doing outside for over a month and yet seemed to get better by the day instead of her health declining?
She didn’t even go with doctors but a single nurse, so there was no excuse for him thinking that a doctor might have treated her on the road.
So, what exactly was going on?
As a concerned brother mostly, who didn’t want to see his sister receiving untoward attention from crazy people, his heart was filled with worry.
’I guess I need to go and see her when she comes back. I don’t want to see anything happening to her. She doesn’t deserve it!’
As he thought of the hankie on his side of the bed, he declared solemnly.
