Chapter 209: Chapter 209: THEY WERE FATED
Surely, all the pieces started falling into place when one day something even crazier happened. He saw another familiar face, and this time, he was frozen in place as he recognized himself.
Yes, he was also existing in that era and he couldn’t help but wonder what role he had this time next to Zahrah.
But then he saw himself getting closer to the saintess, winning her trust and seeing that, he felt very proud.
It didn’t matter which era or life it was; he had always had her trust. That was something that the previous Amir couldn’t have. This time, he had won.
He even became happier when he saw his version of himself dating the saintess.
It wasn’t allowed for the saintess to engage in romantic affairs and yet her love for him was so enormous she broke the rules.
When he saw that happening, Quinn didn’t know what to think or how to act. He was so happy and yet unsettled at the same time.
If he was able to have her in the first life, then why did he fail in the second life?
Could it be that Amir played some trick and created a rift between the two of them?
The more his thoughts drifted that way, the more pissed off he became.
’If I see that bastard when I wake up, I will deal with him accordingly!’ he swore as he saw how happy he was when he was with the saintess.
Quinn felt that it was unfortunate that he could only see the interaction between Zahrah and Quinn when they were at the temple, but never when Walter, that life’s version of his, was away.
So, whatever he did outside there, he didn’t know. But he could tell that Walter indeed loved Zahrah, and that was a relief to him.
He watched as Walter and Zahrah’s love continued to grow and Ami watched helplessly from the side, unable to do anything.
Seeing that, Quin felt that this might not be bad at all. Watching Amir suffer the way he had been suffering, he felt avenged.
But then everything changed when one day, he saw Walter doing something horrible. It made him wonder what he was doing.
Quinn cried out, yelled and even called out to Walter to stop what he was doing, but he forgot that he was just a spirit and he couldn’t stop or influence whatever was happening.
He watched as Walter brought in several men in black at the temple and started slaughtering the innocent temple staff who knew nothing and couldn’t fight.
The temple was dyed red and Walter’s eyes didn’t seem to be filled with regret. The man suddenly turned into a death machine and the more he watched, the more he felt as if someone was piercing his heart with a sharp knife.
This betrayal was simply too much for him to even watch.
He wasn’t this kind of person at all. Why would he kill everything that means so much to his beloved?
He had watched Zahrah 24/7 and that poor girl did nothing but love Walter with everything that she had. She even sacrificed so much and defied her deity just to be with him. So why would Walter do that to him?
The more he wondered about the reason, the more he felt a bad premonition. At this rate, something crazy might happen and he was scared to watch.
But as if someone was holding his eyes and forcing him to watch, he couldn’t look away at all. Whoever was influencing the dream, that person wanted him to watch until the very end.
And honestly, he regretted it. He shouldn’t have been too lax and celebrated too early.
For what Walter did, even he couldn’t forgive him.
He watched as Zahrah, who didn’t know about the massacre of her people, smiled brightly as that traitorous being walked to her with a dagger behind him.
The foolish Zahrah, not knowing that there was a dagger, simply thought that he was hiding a present and even embraced him affectionately like always.
But then this bastard stabbed her in the chest, shocking Zahrah, who didn’t see this coming.
When Walter was boasting and humiliating Zahrah, telling her why he was killing her and doing all this, it was at that time that Quinn recognized the dagger stuck in her body.
’It’s that dagger!’ he paled as soon as he recognized it.
The dagger was the exact dagger as the dagger of suffering, the same dagger that Zara slashed his palm with.
Did she already know that he was the one who killed her in her first life?
If that was the case, when did she know? Why did she treat him so well all this time?
Was everything a façade?
What was happening?
He was so muddleheaded and felt disoriented the more he thought about it.
Walter, after shattering Zahrah’s hope and her world, left nonchalantly, leaving her dying.
Walter didn’t turn back at all but left. In conflict with whom to follow, Quinn found himself stuck in the same place and witnessed Ami’s appearance.
Ami didn’t die. He was one of the fortunate people who didn’t meet with the massacre.
Seeing him hurrying to her and how worried he looked, Quinn felt his heart being twisted again.
Looking at how Ami was filled with regret at how he couldn’t save her in time and how he confessed his love to her. And how Zahrah promised that if there was a second life, she would give her heart to him.
He finally understood why he lost.
Walter drove her to madness and betrayed her so much that to escape from his clutch even in the lifetimes to come, she promised to love Ami, a mere servant who couldn’t even hold his shoes.
Quinn watched as Zahrah faded into Ami’s embrace and felt like a joke.
With these hands, he killed the woman he loved, and he expects her to love him in this life. Won’t she be an idiot if she followed that logic?
But why did he kill her in the first place?
And who were the people behind him?
