Chapter 127: Chapter 127: PHOEBE - ZAHRAH

Since she was coming to the temple and on such an important day, she didn’t dare go without any offering. And now that an altar was staring at her, the offering she had been preparing for years could now be used.

From her tunic, Phoebe took out a white cloth embroidered with red threads. On the cloth, there was a scripture embroidered there. Her favorite and one that had become her mantra in life. The one which made her live smoothly, without bitterness, regardless of how poor her family was and how bitter life was.

"In everything you do, love yourself and your body first before you spread that to others. When you do, give it your all. There is happiness in seeing another person happy, smiling and knowing that your actions had contributed to making a day for him or her. I was born to serve, and reduce infliction and as long as I live, I will do my best to serve that purpose."

Phoebe sincerely offered her earnest prayers and showed her devotion to the goddess. When she was done, she offered the cloth with the scripture on the altar, as that was the highest form of offering she could give to the deity she loved the most.

With the offering done, Phoebe’s next step was to get on her feet and leave the prayer room. After all, there should be more people who were supposed to be using the prayer room and serving the goddess.

However, as she stood on her feet, a strange smoke suddenly filled the prayer room, making her choke and start coughing.

While gasping for breath as the smoke filled her windpipe, she had a feeling that she was going to die. She was scared of dying, honestly. No one wanted to die so fast without achieving anything.

However, as she looked around despite the discomfort and fear currently overwhelming her, it suddenly dawned on her where she was.

’I am in my goddess’s temple. So, what if I met my end today? At least I would die in her embrace and go to her side if I am fortunate!’

The thought that she would die in her goddess’s temple, Phoebe’s fear vanished suddenly, her body becoming light as she surrendered to the fate that awaited.

Unknowingly, she fell to the floor unconscious and the strange smoke which had filled the room disappeared as if it had never been there in the first place.

’Where is this? Where am I? Am I dead?’ those were the questions she asked herself as soon as she found herself lying on green grass which didn’t seem to end in any direction.

It was just her, and the grass. How could she not be alarmed?

Unfortunately, there was no one in sight, which meant that getting her answers was impossible. Regardless of that, Phoebe was ignited with hope.

Even in death, she was still sent to such a beautiful place. May the goddess be praised; she was internally praised as she stood on her feet.

Curious to find out what was going on in the place she was, she started walking around, glancing around while chanting a calming meditation hymn, which settled her nerves.

She didn’t know how long she walked, whether she was headed somewhere or she was busy circling in the same place. However, after walking for a long time, and repeating the hymn five times, she knew that she wasn’t going anywhere and that she needed to do something.

Without too many thoughts swimming in her head, she suddenly went down on her knees and got into a prayer posture.

"Goddess, I don’t know if you can hear me, but your faithful servant has found herself stuck in a depressing situation. I don’t even know if I am dead or dreaming, but I know that whatever is happening is because of your will. All I want is to serve you, be it in spirit or body itself. So please, show me a sign and tell me what I need to do. Your humble servant will dutifully follow and serve you with everything that I have!"

Since there was nothing that she could do on her own, Phoebe resorted to doing one thing she knew the best, leaving everything to the deity who she serves wholeheartedly. As for whether the goddess would respond, who knows, but she had never let her down all these years. Although the goddess had never spoken to her in person.

Some saintesses and priestesses had received her word before. That was something, right?

Lost in her thoughts, wandering all over, suddenly her eyes became blinded, startling her so much that she fell on her butt. However, she didn’t get any second to feel embarrassed because of her situation as in front of her as the light diminished, the brightest person she had ever seen in her life stood in front of her.

Standing a distance away from her was a lady who was surrounded by a bright halo. The lady wore green, which made her skin look whiter and fairer against the color. The embellishments on the gown were exquisite, making her in awe of whoever made it.

However, the not-so-familiar purple, green jewelry sparkling on the gorgeous lady made her jaws drop to the ground. She had never seen such jewelry before, rather the gem which was used to make it. Furthermore, it seemed to match perfectly with the green, making her fall in love deeply with it.

Taking the beautiful clothes and jewelry aside, just who was the lady in front of her? Because of the halo, she could barely see the face of the lady in front of her. Her eyes were shining and when she tried to look at the other person directly, her eyes felt as if they were being pierced by a hot rod. She didn’t dare keep staring at her.

However, she understood one thing: whoever that lady was; she was someone who had to be respected. So, she hurriedly went on her knees, covering her embarrassment. Who knows if that lady was the goddess’s messenger?

"Please pardon me for my unkempt appearance. I wasn’t expecting to see anyone, your ladyship!" Phoebe nervously addressed the lady as she kept her head low.

The lady in green suddenly smiled, making the surrounding halo brighten further.

"It’s okay, my child. I am glad that among the masses there is someone like you. Do you love your goddess that much?" the lady coolly said before posing a question.

Upon hearing that question, Phoebe raised her head despite the blinding light affecting her eyes and solemnly nodded her head.

"I love her so much, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know where I would be right now. It’s a pity that I might not be able to serve her in the future!"

The lady smiled once again as she slightly nodded before saying, "I can feel your sincerity and devotion for her. Which is why I am here to tell you in person. You, Phoebe, had passed the test. From now on, you will be my saints, the chosen ones. Your spirit is pure without any blemish, and with you, the lands will be blessed and healed. And your name, my child, means bright. You radiate shine and make others blossom. Your name, as my chosen one, will be Zahrah," as a light descended on Phoebe, bathing her in its glory.

Phoebe, no, Zahrah devotedly looked at the lady and as she was about to say something ..........

"Miss, it’s okay. Calm down ....."

Zara snapped her eyes open as she panted heavily. ’Damn, what kind of dream is that?’ cursing internally as she realized what was happening.
