THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY
Chapter 84: STORMY DREAM

Chapter 84: STORMY DREAM

"I don’t think he likes Ace," Fay said.

Leighton agreed in her head. She also knew the reason why. How could he like the man that was married to the woman he loved?

Once again, she was in a difficult position. She adored Fay with all her heart. They had been the absolute best of friends as kids. How could she not love her?

But it was different from what she felt for Alexander.

He was her savior in one too many ways. She was in love with him. Had been from the very first day she met him. That love had become torture.

Watching him love other women in ways he could never love her.

Seeing the heartbreak when these relationships failed. Tending to his broken heart until he was healed, and ready to love again.

One thing she envied the most about Alexander was his ability to move on from a failed relationship.

She had held on to loving him, and because of that, had never been in a serious relationship.

She had to do right by the friend she adored, and also the man she was head over heels for.

Carrying Fay’s fragile hands into hers, she smiled. "I hate seeing you this vulnerable. We are supposed to have grown past the vulnerability, right? Remember we said we were going to grow up strong, and independent, with a mind of our own?"

She managed a smile, and slowly nodded her head. "How can I forget? You seem to have done just that for yourself. Your life seems great. I mean, a whole doctor? That’s amazing!"

"You didn’t do bad either. You’re married to a freaking billionaire."

Fay’s face fell.

"What? Is it something I said?" Her hand covering Fay’s, stiffened.

"No, not exactly. It’s just, it’s his money, not mine. Before I met him, I was working in a restaurant. I thought maybe my life was finally on track. Then I met him."

"Did meeting a billionaire derail your life? I don’t understand, Fay."

Fay smiled painfully. "I don’t understand it either. But that’s the beauty of life. With time, I’ll gain clarity and be able to express my feelings better."

"Yeah. Well for now, I think you should still rest a little. You’ve been through so much recently, and we don’t want to risk a repetition of admitting you back to the hospital."

"Yes doctor," Fay chuckled. "But can I ask you a question that has been bothering me?"

"Sure. What is it?"

"How did I—" she looked down to her body, unable to freely pull out the words from her mouth.

"Oh, you mean how you were changed into different clothes?" She laughed at her friend that was still so shy even after all these years. "Well I did it, so you have nothing to worry about."

"Oh okay," she said, feeling relieved.

Leighton placed a gentle kiss on her hand, and rose to her feet.

"Rest," she warned with a hand, and a smile on her face, as she walked out of the room.

She’s such a light, Fay thought as she watched her leave.

Alone with her feelings now, she could finally chide herself for acting on impulse.

She couldn’t deny that reading that diary had scared her to death. It was one thing to know that a person didn’t like another person, but a completely different thing to see how much they didn’t like that person.

The latter had been the case. Reading that diary was like being in his head. The way he described killing her was just too vivid. Like a psychopath.

She wanted to give him grace. After all, his Aunt wasn’t merciful towards him, either. But how could she do that? It was just a complicated situation, and she felt like she was already taking sides.

Maybe the best thing to do was hear his side of the story. She just wasn’t sure he would care enough to tell her. Why should he? Who was she to demand such an explanation from him?

Bought things shouldn’t have opinions. They should nod when told to nod, because they had been paid for.

A tear rolled down her face, making anger rise from her depths.

She was tired of crying, but for the life of her, she just couldn’t stop.

She had always wondered if it was also a traumatic response to something. Every time she felt any emotion at all, she cried.

It was beginning to drain her. Made her so weary all she wanted to do was sleep, and forget.

Slowly, her drowsy eyes began to close. Soon, she found herself deep in the arms of sleep.

But it wasn’t as peaceful as she had hoped it would be.

Her subconscious took over, and she found herself in that same big mansion with the big garden she had seen just before she fell unconscious before.

She was like a spectator watching a little girl whose face she couldn’t see, run around.

Someone chased after her. A woman who also had long red flowy hair. They laughed the same way. Its sound carried a richness and peace that could only be gotten from an environment filled with love.

A man suddenly joined them. She also couldn’t see his face. But he was tall, and his voice was as silly as it was deep.

He joined in the game. They laughed heartily, each running around.

Soon he caught both woman, and girl. They fell on each other, and continued to laugh out their hearts.

Fay, watching them, smiled. It was a rarity to see such a happy family. She was glad she could experience a show like this, even if from afar.

But it didn’t last. Suddenly, there was a thunderstorm.

The man and the woman carried the child whose laughter had turned to tears.

Fay held her breath, as she prayed they made it out of the garden and into their house on time.

Unfortunately, the heavy breeze blowing turned into a mini tornado. The ground that they were on, sunk in.

The man and woman managed to push the child, above, just before the ground swallowed them.

Alone, and afraid, the child dropped to the ground, buried her head on it, and began to cry.

Fay tried to reach out to her. To help her get out of that spot, before the demonic breeze got to her. But she couldn’t move her feet no matter how much she tried.

No matter how hard she screamed, no words came out of her mouth.

Frustrated and afraid, she also dropped to her knees and began to cry.

In the living room, Leighton walked in on Alexander drinking. It wasn’t something he would usually do, which made her aware of just how angry he was.

"You’re being a little too obvious," she said from behind him.

He whipped his head, and found her staring at him.

"Why?" He asked, taking another shot.

"Liking a woman married to another man," she said, tired of beating around the bush.

"Why would you say that? I’m just worried about her."

She scoffed and rolled her eyes. "You can’t fool me, Xan. Don’t even try to lie to me. I know you more than you may even know yourself. You and I know you’re being this way because you can’t fathom how she can be with a man you’ve delusioned yourself into thinking doesn’t love her."

"Does he? If he did, we would never have found her on the road. You yourself told me how scared she is of thunderstorms when we found her losing consciousness. Why would she risk her life that way if she was in a loving relationship?"

"It is none of your business. What don’t you understand, Xan? She’s a grown ass woman who can make her own decisions. You’re speaking from a place of blind delusion. Snap out of it before you lose your mind!" She paused, disgusted by how angry she had come out.

She wanted to remain neutral, but she couldn’t deny how hurt she was.

"I don’t understand why you’re not more worried about her. We’re both doctors. We’ve seen so many cases of domestic abuse, especially with a power dynamic like theirs. She’s your friend too. Are you not the least bit worried about her?"

"I am. That’s why I’m going to call the chief to give me her husband’s number. He needs to know that she’s safe, because that is the right thing to do."

"You wouldn’t dare. If she’s in danger of him, you would be feeding her assaulter information."

"Well too bad I don’t believe Ace is this monster you want him so badly to be. It’s just your jealousy speaking, and I won’t label a man what he’s not, over flimsy jealousy. What I am going to do is bet on the man who I saw got a little girl who not even the doctors could get through to, to open up to him. I’ll bet on that man to come get his wife. You, you should be ashamed of yourself," she said, her voice mixed with both hurt and disappointment.

"Leighton!" He called to her as she walked away, but she didn’t look back. Afraid if she did, she’d give in to his demands like she always did.
