THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 73: FAMILY TIES
Chapter 73: FAMILY TIES
With one hand clutching her purse, and the other carrying the special bag, Fay allowed Marilyn and Alice to escort her out of her room.
Majestically, she walked towards the top of the staircase.
In the living room, a man paced back and forth. But when he heard clicking heels, he paused and raised his head up.
Ace’s breath quickened when he saw Fay descend the stairs. His groin area tightened, and he felt an incoming stiffness.
He had to adjust his legs to cover his reaction as he watched her come to him.
Every second he saw her, her beauty unraveled in his face. The awareness that she was a pretty girl was always there, but seeing her in that gown absolutely stole his breath away.
Marilyn cleared her throat as they stepped into the living room.
"Sir Ace, allow us to present to you your wife, Mrs Fay Atticus."
His heart did a double take at the last name they had chosen. She was Fay Landon. She had to be Fay Landon.
It was dangerous to refer to her as anything other than that. Especially by his family name.
But by God he could see her blending in. Fitting in well, whilst simultaneously standing out.
The face of innocence, so beautiful his body burned with need that left him chasing his breath.
"Fay Atticus?" He muttered in his head. "Fay atticus." It continued to echo.
Subconsciously, he reached for her hand. Rosy tint formed on her cheeks as she switched her purse to the hand holding the bag, and gave in to his request.
He placed a gentle kiss on it, and then linked it around his.
"You two look so magical together. The perfect fit!" Alice clasped.
Fay couldn’t stop blushing as Ace led her out of the house.
They were holding hands. Actually holding hands. He had placed a kiss on them too. She wanted to scream into the heavens. To crawl her way up Mount Olympus and shake hands with the gods.
Cam had the door opened for them as they approached the car.
Ace watched her go into the car first, before making the rounds, and also going through.
His head was in overdrive mode. Her scent was back in full force, filling his lungs. Exciting his brain. Trying it’s hardest to get him hard.
He never expected his body to react to Fay the way it currently was. Afraid to search his heart and discover he was actually attracted to her, he whipped out the new phone Cam had gotten him, and began to distract himself with it.
Fay felt him withdraw into his cold shell again, and sighed internally.
The intensity of his gaze had been ephemeral after all. She wasn’t any better either.
A coward that couldn’t tell a man he looked good. Not just that he looked good, but that he was also the most beautiful man she had ever seen.
However, she had to keep her composure. Her mind had been honest with her. Everyone should know their place. And her place wasn’t to butter him up with saccharine words that were mostly true. Her place was to keep quiet, and wait the one year out.
In the midst of people she was comfortable with, she definitely would consider herself a yapper. But if what he wanted was a silent woman, she could play the part.
As her head whipped to her side of the window, she was grateful the tinted glass wasn’t up.
She could watch the pretty buildings while switching her thoughts from Ace to dinner tonight.
As soon as the flip happened in her head, she began to fiddle with her fingers.
So many things could happen. Her biggest hope was that whatever it came down to, they would leave unscathed. Mostly, emotionally.
Ace’s phone wasn’t as distracting as he had hoped. He caught himself one too many times sneaking glances at Fay.
Her appearance had totally caught him off guard. She had gone from princess of the sea to a queen on land.
The piece serving as a band on her forehead was just gorgeous. Her eyes sparkled. But that dress— "Jesus Christ!" He cussed in his head.
That dress made him stop. His brain especially. It was silky, and hugged her curves to perfection.
For a skinny thing like her, her waist to hip ratio was insane.
"Ace," he muttered under his breath, feeling his brain becoming erratic again.
He adjusted once more. The more he thought about her, the harder he grew. If he didn’t snap out of it soon, he’d have a tent to contend with.
"A year? A whole year?" He thought. He had never lost a bet.
As the corner of his eyes peered towards her again, he had a nagging feeling he was about to have his first loss.
The car pulled into the gold street, and Fay’s smile turned into a glow. A halo of joy formed on her forehead as she watched the street.
When the windows began to wind down, her heart skipped a beat. She turned her head for an explanation, and caught Ace staring at her.
She quickly lowered her gaze, blushing harder than the ozone layer.
Her reaction tickled him. Fascinated him. Made him want to pull her closer and see what reaction a kiss would spark.
A thought about a kiss had him searching for the slightest hint of her lips. Buried under the tresses of her hair when she lowered her gaze, he couldn’t see anything.
"You’re not a child, Ace. Control yourself," he thought, turning his head to the other side.
She felt his movement, and swiftly pulled her phone out of her purse. Her smile tripled as she took a quick video of the street.
As if Cam knew she had desperately wanted to do that, the windows went up as soon as she lowered her phone.
"Perfect!" She blurted out, drawing Ace’s attention. "Sorry," she said over her shoulders when she felt him looking at her.
He wanted to tell her not to apologize that way. The only word he really wanted to hear from her was ’please.’
Ironic because that was also the action he wanted to carry out on her.
Cam drove the car into the parking lot, and put it to a stop.
"The Atticus mansion!" He announced like a flight attendant.
"Joker," Ace thought, chuckling in his head.
Before anyone could open the door for her, Fay pushed it open by herself, and stepped out.
Ace’s eyes lifted curiously at her hastiness. Was she that eager to attend this dinner? He wondered in his mind.
Also, what was in that bag she wouldn’t stop holding?
"Why do you want to kiss her?" A mocking voice in his head added.
"Very funny," he mumbled.
Fay didn’t really get to enjoy the sight of this opulent mansion the first time she was there. The reason she rushed out of the car as soon as it stopped was to stare. Just like she was doing right now.
"So beautiful," her eyes darted from one end to the other. "And dreamy."
Yeah, she had only ever dreamt of a house like this. Shockingly, everytime she dreamed of something luxurious, it felt so real, but also like an imagination.
The biggest juxtaposition of her entire life.
"There are a lot of cars," Ace said to Cam as he came out of the car.
"I guess it’s a full house then."
"You can say that again," he said in a low vibrational voice.
Its richness drifted into Fay’s ears, and made her smile. She could see a man like this being the owner of a house like this. It suited him all too well.
"Are you ready to act in love?" She heard him whisper behind her, and she shivered.
He had crept up on her. The same way he was doing in her heart.
"I am." She smiled.
"Good. Keep that smile. We’d need it. It looks like the entire family is here."
He raised his arm, and she switched the purses again.
Linked and in sync, they walked into the interior part of the Atticus’ mansion.
The staff who ushered them in this time did not forget to acknowledge Fay.
She smiled at that difference, feeling more welcomed than she did the other time.
Immediately they stepped into the dinning area which was already bustling with laughter, and discussions, everywhere went silent.
Numerous pairs of heads turned towards them. Some faces had smiles on them, others were largely indifferent. A very select few were just hostile. Amongst those were Celine Atticus.
Fay flinched and held on tighter to Ace when she met his aunt’s gaze.
With her heart pounding loudly against her chest, they moved forward, and stopped in front of the matriarch who was sitting at the head table.
"Ace, you came," she said, and smiled fondly.
"I did."
His eyes were on her, but he had looked around when he came in. He couldn’t find his mother.
"Ace!" A loud voice shrieked.
He looked behind, and found little legs running towards him. To the amazement of everyone present, his eyes lit up.
Taking his hands off Fay, his arms were open and ready when the latest addition to the Atticus family, Sophie, jumped on his body.
