THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY
Chapter 200: GLAM DAY

Chapter 200: GLAM DAY

"Mum, why can’t I have a big party soon?" Dream questioned Fay, as they lay snuggled in bed.

Fay sighed, and closed the book she was reading her daughter. Turning her face to her, she smiled, and pushed a strand of hair blocking her face to the side.

"We always had parties in our other home, didn’t we?"

"But it was just you, and me. The nanny too. If grandpa was around, he’d join, and make us four. That’s not the kind of party I’m talking about." She pouted.

Fay stared at her adorable child with love in her eyes. She had taken a few days off work to ensure she was fine, after her discharge from the hospital.

The girl clearly had long forgotten she almost gave everyone a heart attack. Now, she was moving on to parties.

Fay found her curiosity interesting. At least, she wasn’t asking about her father anymore.

"Your fourth birthday is coming up in two weeks. Do you want a big party for that?"

Dream straightened into a sitting position, and her eyes bulged.

"Would you really do that, mummy? I’d have lots and lots of guests?" She widened her arms to measure how many guests she was talking about.

"Dream darling," Fay drew closer to her, really hating that she had to put a little dampness on her excitement. "We could have a big party, yes, but I’m not sure about lots of guests. I don’t even know that many people, baby."

"But mummy." Her face fell, as her hands dropped to the side.

"Oh baby," Fay pulled her into her body. "I know you want to make lots of friends, but I already told you how unsafe mingling with just anyone is. Couldn’t you hold out just a bit, until you’re at least five?" She pleaded.

"But you’re always at work, mummy. And grandpa is old. The nanny can’t play with me all the time. If I had friends, I wouldn’t be alone."

Fay’s heart sombered. She couldn’t bear to see her daughter in that much pain.

As much as she herself had been a loner when she was younger, life would have been totally unbearable if she didn’t have Leighton by her side.

"Okay, I have an idea. How about if the nanny takes you to a private pack? If you meet a friend there, then you can be friends with the child. Deal?"

"Really?!" She pushed her head up, cheesing from ear to ear.

"Yes baby," Fay laughed.

"Okay mummy! I’m going to make so many friends, this house wouldn’t be able to contain all of us."

Fay chuckled. "Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now. But you know what I would like to do?" She asked, a mischievous glint replacing the smile on her face.

"What, mummy?"

"Tickle time!"

She jumped on little Dream before she could run away, and began to tickle, amidst her laughter.

A little while later, Dream fell asleep, and Fay returned to her own room.

Her eyes landed on the invite card on her dressing table, as soon as she stepped into the room.

"You really won’t be attending that?"

She turned to see her grandfather standing behind her.

"Grandpa? I thought you were going for the Glam opening?"

"I thought so too," he said, entering the room as she gave him some space to go through. "But we both know the matriarch didn’t send an invite because she wanted me there. It’s all for you. That’s why she has been trying to get you to help promote Glam."

Fay scoffed. "She needs my help? I did need her help too four years ago. What did she do instead? She turned a blind eye to her grandson’s maltreatment of me. I’m not sorry that I won’t help her."

Seth struggled with the desire to tell her the truth. But he knew if he did, the ripple effect might be catastrophic.

After the result proving she was indeed related to him came out, he had hoped she would revisit the things he told her that night at the beach.

But she never did. She never asked about her parents. She didn’t even bring up the fact that if he hadn’t turned his back on his son, her father, she would have lived a better life.

It was the same way she refused to speak about the Atticus. The ones he could tell she could stand were the boy’s mother, and his siblings.

The rest, she had a deep resentment against.

He pitied her greatly. All of that anger bottled up in her couldn’t be healthy.

"You don’t know everything, Fay. But I’d say just for tonight, go to the event. If not for the matriarch, think about the fact you’d be launching your own fragrance line soon. You’d need the connections."

"Oh please, I don’t—"

Her words trailed, as the light revealed in her eyes. He was right.

Instead of just the fragrance line, she could even take it up a notch, and launch her own fashion brand.

She would love to see how much they could really compete against her.

"What is it, Fay?" Seth asked, concern laced in his voice.

"I think you’re right. I should attend the event."

An hour later, Fay was ready to leave for the Glam centre.

She sashayed into her car after kissing a sleeping Dream, and saying goodbye to her grandfather.

Her driver drove out of the compound, as she settled confidently in the back seat.

She was late, she thought, checking the time. It was a good thing though. It meant all eyes would be on her when she walked in.

There was a point she needed to prove. It was definitely going to be proven tonight.

The car stopped at a suitable parking spot at Glam.

She took one good look at her reflection, just before her driver opened the door for her.

Her red bottom heels scraped the ground, leaving patches of its shreds, trailing across the ground.

Swooping her gown to the side, so the slit that travelled all the way to her thighs could be as visible as possible, she muttered a thank you to the driver, and proceeded forward.

One hand clutched her diamond coated purse, against her sides, whilst the other swung fashionably, as she walked through the entrance door.

She was stopped by the guards, and asked to produce an invite.

"You don’t have to do that, I invited her."

Fay’s hands paused just at the tip of the purse, as her body wobbled in recognition.

She waited for the matriarch to step forward, because she wasn’t ready to turn around to face her.

"You’re late, but I knew you’d come. I knew you’d come, so I decided to wait for you, and usher you in myself. I’ve missed you so much, Fay," the matriarch said, stepping forward so she could give her a proper look.

Fay gave the older woman a quick once-over. She was still as pretty as she remembered.

Although there were more grey’s on her hair now, they made her look even more fashionable.

And of course, she couldn’t forget the coldness that accompanied the woman.

That would explain why she could watch her get hurt, and not be moved to intervene.

"I should feel honoured I guess," she finally said after her assessment.

The matriarch was taken aback by her bluntness. This had to be what the twins meant when they said she had a different aura surrounding her, she thought.

"Come with me, Fay. Like old times, let’s go in together. Do you remember when I brought you to the unfinished building of Glam?"

How couldn’t she remember? Fay thought. The first time she had stepped into the building, she had been hit with a wave of nostalgia.

It happened again. Especially because of that damned fountain.

She had purposely avoided looking at it this time around. It Made her think of things that made her feel weak.

"As you wish."

Fay followed behind the matriarch, just as the doors slid open for them to go through.

"Finally ladies and gentlemen, join me and welcome the brain behind Glam, and the only matriarch of the Atticus dynasty."

Fay didn’t like that the old woman had stolen her thunder.

She had to walk behind her, as she walked towards the podium.

Her eyes, bored, and annoyed, scanned the lengths of the room.

But it wasn’t the people she was looking at. It was the design used for the room.

Golden hue, that made the big hall look like the streets of heaven.

She was highly impressed by whoever the designer was.

"Thank you all for your kindness, but I would like everyone to take a step back from me right now, and give a warm welcome to Fay Luxe."

It was only when she heard her name, and looked up, that she realised she had somehow found herself on the podium, with the matriarch.

She felt a glare amidst the thundering cheers, and her eyes shot towards it’s direction

Her heart lurched when she saw Celine Atticus. Just beside her was Ace, staring intensely into her soul.
