THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 183: REVENGE IN MOTION
Chapter 183: REVENGE IN MOTION
Fay shook off the tiredness in her bones, as she descended the stairs.
Her first day at work was officially a hectic one.
When her PA had brought the invitation for the event towards the end of the day, she had almost declined it.
But when she was told her grandfather had a hand in the event, to slowly integrate her to the society, she knew she couldn’t turn it down.
She had quickly called it a day at the company, so she could go home and spend a little time with her daughter before she prepared for the event.
She was also grateful to Dream for being understanding enough to have an early night.
Her eyes fixated on the podium as she walked up to it, and turned around to face the clapping crowd.
The screams in the room increased at her presence.
She was getting used to people going crazy at her appearance.
Although life had dealt her a terrible hand, it compensated with the face it gave her.
"Fay?" Leighton said, turning to Ace. "That’s Fay." She pointed.
Ace was too shocked to speak. His mouth hung open as he stared at her.
"You’re right, babe. That’s actually Fay. How’s she— how?" Landon scrambled.
Reign was both shocked and disgusted. She thought she would never have to deal with the bitch ever again.
She had settled her aunt, and the woman told her Fay never returned.
In her heart, she had hoped it meant she was dead, and long forgotten.
Yet here she was, standing as the heiress of a conglomerate like Luxe? How the fuck did that happen?! She thought.
"Bro, that’s Fay. That’s your Fay," Landon said, when Ace remained silent.
"His Fay?" Reign scoffed. "You better stop being disrespectful."
"I don’t think he meant it that way, Reign." Leighton instantly came to Landon’s defence.
"Oh shut it, English! You were her best friend. Of course you’d support everything that has to do with her. I’ve had enough of this nonsense. Let’s leave this event, Ace."
She turned to him, at the same time Fay’s eyes trailed towards their direction.
Their table was in the front, so it wasn’t hard to spot them.
Fay’s heart skipped a beat on seeing the people she used to regard as her friends, and family. But outwardly, she remained composed.
There was Leighton. Leighton never hurt her. Although she didn’t keep in touch with her, she would always have love for her.
By her side was Landon. She couldn’t understand why they were together. There had to be a story there.
Landon she actually liked. They were not close, but he was as moral as a rich heir could be.
Then there was Reign. She made sure to hold her gaze for a few seconds before moving on.
As she moved on, her heart pounded. She already knew who she would see next.
He was looking at her too. This was her moment. Her moment to show him he was dead to her.
Despite her erratic heart, beating all over the place, she held his gaze, an empty expression in her eyes.
He couldn’t believe it. She wasn’t looking at him with adoration. There was something dead in her eyes.
But what did he care? He thought. She was the one who betrayed his family.
He didn’t know how she had managed to convince Seth Luxe to hand over his company to her.
If he had let her, she would have done the same thing to him.
What then was the difference between her, and his aunt, Celine Atticus.
"I’m happy to be here," she began, withdrawing her gaze from Ace. "Not to bore you all, but it’s an honour to be regarded as the special guest for tonight. Allow me raise a glass," she stopped, and a waiter quickly brought her a glass of champagne. "A glass to the future of the country. Luxe has big plans, and I can’t wait to share them with you all. Salute."
The crowd echoed back at her, as they all drank from their glasses.
Fabian escorted her down the stairs to her table that was just next to Ace’s.
As she sat downed, she muttered a thank you.
"Wow, she got so elegant," Leighton said.
"I’m trying to draw a comparison with her now, and the Fay of before. Both still ridiculously beautiful, but there’s a rigidity to her now," Landon replied.
"You’re right, babe. I can’t see that light in her eyes anymore. What happened to her? Four whole years."
"Four whole years," Landon echoed.
As they took their seat, Ace couldn’t stop his eyes from trailing towards her.
After her first appearance, she had ensured she didn’t look at him since she took her seat.
His ego was taking a big blow. He had expected her to still be stuck on him.
Didn’t she swear she loved him the last day they saw each other? Where was that love now?
He couldn’t be more grateful he hadn’t allowed his feelings for her to cloud his judgement.
If only she would look at him now.
The event continued, but he couldn’t help himself. At intervals, he would look to see if she was looking.
She never looked. Instead, she focused on the number of people who stopped by her table to converse.
"Do you want to stop by too?" Reign asked, unable to hold her tongue anymore.
He didn’t answer, until she smacked his arm.
"What?!" He turned to her, the interaction drawing stares towards them.
Amongst those eyes, were Fay’s. He turned against her, but the second she turned, he knew.
If only he wasn’t already facing Reign. He would have loved to turn around too, so he could see her face.
God, he had missed that face!
As soon as the thought formed in his head, he pushed it away.
It was just his silly emotions speaking. Of course he didn’t miss the girl that was ready to turn his legacy into her plaything.
"Do you understand we’re in public, Reign?" He lowered his voice to ask.
"And I’m trying to respect that fact. Why do you keep looking at her?"
"How do you know he’s looking at her if you’re not looking at her too?" Landon stepped in for his friend.
"What is this? A gang-up up? Did you bring me out so you and your friends can gang up on me?" She sniffled, placing a hand on her chest.
"Reign, stop it. Whatever you’re thinking is all in your head, please."
"Oh it’s in my head? We’ll see about that."
She suddenly jumped to her feet, and began to march towards Fay’s table.
Her actions drew the attention of everyone around, as they watched her determined steps.
"Oh for fucks sake!" Ace stood up, following after her.
However, she was quicker. She arrived just as the latest guest that stopped to say hello to Fay, turned to leave.
Fay raised her head, and saw Reign before her.
She had dreamt about this day before. The day she finally confronted the bitch.
In all honesty, she had not envisioned it to be in the presence of this many people. But the more the merrier right?
"I can’t believe someone let this dog into a room filled with diamonds. How are you here, right now?" Reign asked, her chest heaving.
"Sorry, do I know you?" Fay replied nonchalantly.
Her response was like a slap on Reigns’ pride. She couldn’t believe the absolute gall of the wench, who just four years ago, couldn’t look her directly in the face.
"That’s enough, Reign!" Ace interrupted from behind, as she opened her mouth to respond.
"Oh shut it!" She replied. "Just shut up! You should be appalled that your ex-wife, the whore who tried to swindle your entire family is back, posing as a Luxe heiress. How did she get there, when I can pull up articles from that night the world discovered what a lying whore she is!"
"Are you talking to me?" Fay questioned, slowly rising to her feet.
She shrugged off Ace’s arms, then took a step so it was just the table dividing them. "I am. I called you, Fay Landon a whore. What are you going to do abo—-"
A slap landed on her face before she could finish off her words.
It pulled a gasp out of the people present in the hall.
"I already told you I don’t know you. That doesn’t mean I’ll take any disrespect from a neanderthal like you. You better crawl back to the hole you crawled out from, before I tear you apart!" She roared.
Ace blinked repeatedly. He couldn’t believe his eyes, nor could he believe his ears.
After pretending for months, it took four years for Fay to finally show her true colours.
"Cade!" She called out.
Her bodyguard, who was already waiting for her call, stepped forward.
"Get this bitch out of here. I don’t think we need any skunk stinking up our noses."
"Yes ma’am," he replied, marching towards Reign who was still writhing from the pain on her face.
"Fay?" Ace called in an airy voice.
Ignoring him as if something insignificant had spoken, she elegantly dropped to her seat, and crossed her legs.
