THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY
Chapter 155: A LITTLE CONTEXT

Chapter 155: A LITTLE CONTEXT

Alexander left Fay in his living room for a few minutes. He wanted to prepare a bath, and plan for dinner.

When he returned, he found her laying on her back to the floor, her head facing the ceiling..

He paused by the door, and just watched her.

She wasn’t crying anymore. That was some good news.

With the tears gone, she only looked sad. She looked terribly sad.

He wished there was something he could do to alleviate her sadness. But there was nothing he could possibly say to make her feel better.

One part of him was okay with that. The other, not so much.

There was also a little part of him that was glad she trusted him enough to come with him.

It was the selfish part of his soul, nonetheless, a part of him.

That was the part that craved her the most. It was the part embracing the opportunity he had to stare at her this way.

Ace was a fool, and he was glad that he was.

"The first time I walked into my aunt’s house, I felt a sense of peace," she suddenly said.

His body jerked a little, because he hadn’t thought she knew he was watching her.

There was no point being cautious anymore.

Dragging his body away from the door, he went to sit beside her on the floor.

"Can I ask why?"

"Because I had been surrounded by men in uniforms before, and now I was in a home situation with a woman they called my aunt."

He let her words illuminate in his mind for a little while, before finally nodding in understanding.

"That makes sense."

She didn’t speak again, and he thought she had gone numb once more.

Her story was something he had always been curious about. It added to her allure and mystery.

The first time he saw her, it was her hair that caught his attention, but her eyes kept him.

They held depth and depth of multiple complex, simple, and most importantly, secret feelings his mind needed to explore.

Coupled with her beauty, he knew he would be whipped for a long time.

The day he found out she was married, he felt his heart crumple.

For years and years, he thought he wouldn’t find the one girl that would spark up his heart, after a series of never ending heart breaks.

Only to find this one girl, whose laughter haunted his ears in a pleasing way. Unfortunately, she was married.

"Children, they say, have some sort of sixth sense. I think it’s bullshit."

In a whirlwind of shock, his eyes lifted on hearing her curse. She was so proper, it was very unusual to hear her curse.

It wasn’t even something he could picture her doing.

Noticing his fault in ascribing perfection to her when they were only just humans, he secretly chided himself.

"Why—"

"Children are just children. Some might have perceptions, but it’s not like a staple quality amongst every child. For example, I was just happy to be away from all these officers and doctors, after waking up in the hospital. Maybe if I had the sixth sense ascribed to women, I would have sensed more danger ahead."

"Fay," he called, because the heaviness in her voice frightened him.

She didn’t owe him her story. Maybe not at that moment. He wouldn’t care if she chose to remain silent, because he wasn’t selfish.

"No, I need to say this to someone just once."

Her mind drifted to Ace, and her heart pounded heavily against her chest.

Every time she thought of a day she finally allowed herself to speak the truth she lived as a growing child, she pictured it would be Ace hearing her story.

But just like the sound the fingers make when it snaps, the hard sound of reality hits her in the ears.

"Why? I don’t want you to retell the sadness you experienced."

"Retell?" She scoffed bitterly. "I don’t think I’ve told anyone before. I’ve not even told myself. I only just started embracing the reality of my life. I’ve lived in denial, and delusion for a long time. Haven’t you?"

For the first time since they arrived at the house, she turned her face to the side, and stared at him.

"Why don’t you live with Leighton anymore?" She asked before he could jump into answering her previous question.

"I don’t think you want to know that," he replied solemnly.

"I do. It’ll distract me from my head. I need to be distracted from my thoughts."

He couldn’t possibly deny her. She was too special to him. Too beautiful.

"Things got weird. I couldn’t stop talking or thinking about you. She made it clear I was wrong for coveting a married woman."

There was no shift in her expression. She kept the dread in her eyes, and it worried him.

"Don’t you have anything to say about that?"

"About you liking me? I prayed for it not to happen, but it did. Men have always lusted after me. I never understood why, you know?" her eyes squinted. "I don’t have big tits. What’s the obsession over?"

"Your spirit," he replied in a heartbeat.

"Hmmm," she made a sound at the back of her throat. "So aunt was right, then? I have the spirit of lust?"

"Jesus, no Fay! Of course she’s wrong. It’s not that you have any weird spirit in you. You just have an aura that draws people in. Men, women. It makes them want to love and adore you."

"So I’m helpless? I look helpless?" Her voice rose a little in intensity.

"I didn’t—"

"You should have listened to Leighton. She’s always right. Even when we were kids, she had great instincts," she interrupted him.

"The first time we both saw my aunt’s husband, she could tell he was strange. I was offended that she had those nasty thoughts about my aunt’s husband. To me, she was just repeating what the neighbours whispered. However, I never mentioned my feelings to her. Thank God I didn’t."

"Why?"

Her squinted eyes widened. "He tried to sexually assault me. When he was caught, he framed me for seducing him. I was thirteen or fourteen, I can’t remember because I try to suppress the memory. I didn’t know anything, but he did, and he used his knowledge against me. Of course my aunt believed him," she laughed bitterly. "Why wouldn’t she?"

"Fay please," he drew closer to her, and drew his hands toward her. But when she flinched even before he could touch her, he quickly withdrew his hand. "Sorry."

"No, it’s not you. It’s me. I never really understood how I was supposed to be filled with lust when the only man I gave my body and heart to was Gabriel. Just one man. Despite the accusations from my aunt. How does that work, Alexander?"

"Because your aunt is a liar?"

She chuckled, and threw her face to the other side. "It would seem you and Ace have similar thoughts, after all. If he could hurt her, he would. I never really understood why."

"Perhaps, because he’s your husband?" His face squeezed in pain, having to even mention their relationship.

Because he was fair, he had to do it.

"Do you want to hear a secret, Alexander? But promise you won’t use it to your advantage."

"No, I don’t want to hear it." He shook his head, and shifted back.

"Why?" Her voice was tainted with hurt.

"Because I can’t promise I won’t use whatever you have to tell me to my favour. Even right now, I’m ecstatic your marriage might be in trouble. Maybe there’s a chance for me."

A smile consumed her face, and she straightened into a sitting position.

"Why are you always so honest? You’re so good. A better man than most men I’ve encountered." Her eyes narrowed at him in wonder.

His face turned crimson, and he averted his gaze. "Trust me, I want to lie sometimes. I don’t always want to be as straightforward, and open as I am. I just can’t help it. I lived through lies, and my way to rebel was to ensure I told the truth."

"I like that you are honest. I used to be that way until the Atticus’ came into my life. Now, I can barely recognize myself when I look in the mirror," she whispered.

"Are you unhappy with Ace?" He asked out of the blue.

"I thought you said you didn’t want to know something that would give you hope?"

Slowly, he lifted his head so he could look into her eyes.

"I have a thing for going after women that either hurt me, or I could never have."

She knew it was true in her heart. Because he was so blind to the fact Leighton was in love with him. Even in her naivety, she could still see it.

"Do you think you can ever have me?"

"No," he answered swiftly. "But I’ll be damned if I don’t give it my best effort."
