Chapter 366: Chapter 365

Not afraid?

How can you not be afraid? Is this something you can just decide not to be afraid of?

"Sister Ivy, big sister, I’m begging you, please stop shaking the rope over there, I already heard ripping sounds just now, it’s terrifying!"

Ivy River smirked wickedly and shook the rope again.

She smiled as she walked towards Isla Sutton.

Isla Sutton sat motionless in her seat, "You, what do you want, Ivy River? Edwin Blake ignored me just now, but what if he pays attention to me later? Maybe he’ll give me a way out?"

"Stop dreaming. Edwin Blake is head over heels in love, but he’s not brainless, thank you. After all, he’s my ex-husband and a man I, Ivy River, once slept with. I’m not blind to that extent, right?"

Ivy River sneered directly.

Seeing her last hope vanish, Isla Sutton looked like she had lost her soul and collapsed into her seat.

Not saying a single word.

Noah Wilson saw her in this state and kicked her, "For years, you used Edwin Blake’s name to do all sorts of wrongdoings. Didn’t you think about ending up like this?"

"Didn’t care about consequences while committing all those misdeeds. What’s wrong with Ivy River returning to the country? She didn’t touch your cake at first, did she? Your inability to keep your man has nothing to do with us, does it?"

Isla Sutton dared not speak against Ivy River, but she had the guts to talk back to Noah Wilson.

"Who do you think you are, just a lackey. How dare you boss me around?"

Slap—

A crisp snapping sound of a slap echoed among everyone.

Alexander Hodges couldn’t help but wince internally, glancing sympathetically at Isla Sutton, and whispered, "Isla Sutton, don’t provoke this tomboy, you saw how he hit the CEO just now, didn’t you?"

"Mainly I’m worried that if you provoke him, I might get dragged into it too. My brother isn’t looking out for you anymore, so you better be careful with your words, okay?"

Isla Sutton rolled her eyes in annoyance, "Alexander, I’ve been pretty good to you all these years, right? Sometimes I even stopped your brother from hitting you, so stop fanning the flame here."

Talking about this made Alexander angry again.

Alexander cursed, "Don’t bring up these things. It was your loose talk that got my brother upset in the first place. Can he hit a woman? No, so he ends up hitting me, the cheap brother!"

"If it weren’t for you stirring things up, I wouldn’t get beaten up. Don’t give me those useless excuses, sis-in-law, just tell me what needs doing. Let’s wrap this up quickly!"

Alexander was visibly angry, with even a hint of fury in his eyes as he looked at Ivy River.

Seeing the man’s face clouded over, she calmly approached and crouched before Isla Sutton, "You, I’ve already uncovered all your secrets. Now I’m thinking about how much to disclose to the police. What do you think, Miss Sutton?"

Isla Sutton felt Ivy River was joking and retorted coldly.

"Do you think it matters what I want? Isn’t it up to you now? If I could choose, I would ask you to let me go. Can you do that? No, if you could, you wouldn’t be Ivy River."

"Smart, but now I feel a bit sympathetic, not much, but enough. Do you want me to expose your plot to hire a killer, or your international conspiracy to run prostitution rings?"

Ivy River wickedly tapped her fingers while speaking, "Or should I talk about the bribes you took at home, like how the Blake Clan Group’s executives paid you to whisper in Edwin Blake’s ear, and you kept the money without doing anything?"

"And let’s not forget, you recently tried to buy manuscripts from Lynn, but your funds were short, so you sold Edwin Blake’s necklace, and..."

Isla Sutton’s face was filled with shock, initially stupefied.

Then, realizing Alexander Hodges was still near, she frantically shouted, "Ivy River, who the hell are you? How do you know so much? You’re spreading rumors!"

By this time, Isla Sutton’s nerves were already tightly wound.

Plus, she didn’t eat much before going out today, thinking Edwin Blake was taking her to a candlelight dinner for romance.

Never thought she’d end up in Ivy River’s clutches.

This whole time, she hadn’t eaten a bite, and with her nerves on edge, she was starting to feel weak.

Ivy River, still unbothered, said, "It’s easy to verify if I’m lying. I have all the evidence, knew all about your bribes, and Lynn’s transactions. If you provoke me one more time, I’ll plaster everything on Twitter!"

"No, don’t!"

Isla Sutton panicked immediately.

She’s maintained a fairly good persona in the public eye; she can’t afford to let it all be ruined.

"Alright then, I’ll grant your request now, let’s talk about the whole story, and see if you can accept it."

Ivy River got straight to the point, "Reveal all the wrongdoings you’ve done over the years and let me record a video. Promise never to harm my children or family again, and I’ll only report the hire-to-kill incident."

"If you don’t agree, then I’m sorry, but I won’t hold back, and you’ll bear all the consequences. I’ll expose everything publicly."

Isla Sutton burst out angrily, "You’re not negotiating with me. This is a blatant threat. I warn you, Ivy River, don’t push me. Your child is still young, so we might as well destroy each other."

"Alright, a mutual destruction works for me. I’ll call Edwin Blake. If he wants to save you, he’ll have to pay handsomely; if not, you’re on your own, and I’ll ensure you rot in prison!"

Having finished speaking, Ivy River immediately took out her phone and dialed Edwin Blake’s number.

The result?

The ringtone of Edwin Blake’s phone emanated from Alexander Hodges’ pocket.

Alexander sheepishly grinned, "Sis-in-law, just now I used my brother’s phone, then forgot to return it to him, sorry about that. I’ll call Harry Ross."

"No need. Since Edwin Blake isn’t answering, it means he doesn’t want to get involved. Isla Sutton, you’re out of luck; even Edwin Blake doesn’t want to take your calls, you can’t blame anyone else."

With that, Ivy River began to assault Isla Sutton.

Being a doctor, she skillfully avoided all harmful areas.

After a flurry of blows, Isla Sutton sustained only minor scratches.

To outsiders, it seemed insignificant, but the real pain was something only Isla Sutton knew intimately.

Isla Sutton felt like the pain was killing her.

The entire room echoed with her cries of agony.

Ivy River acted as if she couldn’t hear, her hands never ceasing.

Observing from the side, Noah Wilson and Alexander Hodges felt a sense of dread.

"Do you think my sister-in-law’s gone mad? Isla Sutton’s screams are miserable, feeling a bit sorry for her."

"Not sure, my sister’s always been like this, very vengeful. We all feared her; she can be vicious beyond imagination."

Noah Wilson responded instinctively and then, realizing it, gave Alexander Hodges a swift kick in the rear, "Watch your words. My sister divorced that moron long ago. Stop leeching off, control your mouth!"
