Chapter 303 - 302
Chapter 303: Chapter 302
What did they hear...
Ivy River can actually confront Edwin Blake at such a significant event...
How dare she do it, how did she pull it off!
People in the audience were even more surprised, because the expressions of Edwin Blake and Ivy River were clearly not that of casual chit-chat.
It’s obvious, they are arguing.
Everyone present had rather spectacular expressions, except for the two of them.
Edwin Blake squinted slightly, "We’ll talk about these things later, let me give you the award now. But remember, Alaric Taylor is not a good person, be sure to think it through."
"Don’t worry, I’ve thought it through clearly, I’m not a fool, not everyone can trick me."
Ivy River unceremoniously retorted Edwin Blake.
The cameraman felt the atmosphere on stage was a bit off, so he braced himself and said, "Let’s smile, come on, recipients, today you look the most beautiful."
Edwin Blake glanced at Ivy River and leaned towards her, taking two steps.
Holding the trophy together with Ivy River, their bodies were practically touching.
"Keep your distance from me." Ivy River smiled at the camera and whispered to Edwin Blake, "Edwin Blake, don’t force my hand, my sleeve contains Silver Needles."
Edwin Blake’s body stiffened, and an involuntary chill emanated from him.
But he didn’t move any closer.
After the picture was taken, Ivy River held the trophy with one hand and stepped off the stage, tossing her thirty-thousand voucher to Isabella Yeaton.
"Isabella, you go and collect the money when the time comes, leave 50k for you all to use for afternoon tea, don’t hesitate. Sometimes I forget to buy things for you, feel free to help yourself."
Isabella Yeaton was startled, "No! You’re always so good to us, we can’t take your money, especially since this is your competition prize, it’s meaningful to you, Director River!"
"Can I say that this prize was unexpected, initially I didn’t enter for the prize."
Isabella Yeaton stubbornly refused the money.
Ivy River was quite helpless, "How is it that it’s so hard to give away money these days, I’ll tell you, this is the champion’s prize, later on, everyone can enjoy and celebrate with me. Hopefully, if you participate in competitions, you can earn a good rank too."
"Also, it’s my first time participating and I won a prize. You should consider this; it carries a lot of weight. Even if you don’t need it, maybe your colleagues in the department require this bit of luck?"
Isabella Yeaton finally conceded, "Alright, Director, you make a good point, but 50k is really too much. If you give it, Director King will have to give too, and she only got 50k in prize money..."
"Right," Ivy River slapped her forehead, "No problem, I’ll handle it later, don’t worry, it’s not a big issue! I’ll let you know later, then you announce it in the Traditional Medicine Department group chat, okay?"
Isabella Yeaton nodded, still uneasy, "Actually, 2000 is enough for our afternoon tea, you don’t have to give so much."
"Nagging! If you keep this up, I’ll have Lewis Chadwick dock your salary, and your year-end bonus will be deducted!"
Indeed, Isabella Yeaton stopped nagging upon hearing that.
Ivy River chuckled lightly, "Money is indeed more tempting. Hey, Evelyn King stop right there."
Evelyn King had just exited the restroom and was called to stand in front of Ivy River.
Her body instinctively shivered, she cautiously asked, "What’s going on?"
"Nothing, just wanted to discuss something with you."
Evelyn King asked, puzzled, "Tell me, what is it?"
"I want to buy some afternoon tea for the Traditional Medicine Department; I’ll cover the majority, and you’ll cover the minority, how about it?"
Ivy River had a tone of command, making Evelyn King quite suspicious.
Is this really a discussion with her?
Wasn’t every sentence essentially ordering her?
"Alright, I was thinking of buying something for the colleagues with this prize money too. How about we split it equally?"
Ivy River waved off the suggestion, "No need, just keep your money, you can buy some milk tea, I’ll handle the rest. The prize is thirty-thousand, you only have five, so I’ll spend the bulk."
Upon hearing this, Evelyn King sighed deeply in her heart.
She wasn’t sure if Ivy River was being kind or not.
She replied without hesitation, "After all, you have more money, it’s no problem for you to spend more."
"You’re right, I’ll put 50k aside for our department as casual afternoon tea money for whenever needed, we’ll talk once it runs out."
Evelyn King was stunned hearing this amount.
"50k? Even if you’re wealthy, you can’t just do this! It makes me look stingy."
Ivy River didn’t care, "We won’t make it public, Isabella Yeaton manages the money. I’m telling you in advance, so you won’t feel burdened. Honestly, even if I take out all thirty-thousand, it doesn’t affect my lifestyle at all."
Evelyn King shot her an annoyed glance, "Fine, if you want to give, I won’t hold back. You handle it, get the milk tea money from Isabella, I’m off."
Watching her leave, Alaric Taylor walked up, laughing.
"I couldn’t tell, but you are quite the third-ranked doctor, winning a prize and yet thinking of treating the department colleagues to snacks. Well done."
Ivy River raised her eyes and seriously asked, "Wasn’t I good before?"
Alaric Taylor caught up to her line of thought, "Of course, you were good before, but becoming a doctor made you even better."
"Tsk, alright, you’ve come all the way to Seaton, I won’t ask what for, but as a guest, let me treat you to dinner, shall we?"
"Sure, what do you want to eat?"
Ivy River grinned, "You are the guest; shouldn’t you be the one deciding what to eat? Why is it the other way around?"
"Whatever you like, you’re the champion today, as long as you’re happy."
"Sis, what are we eating? Can I tag along?" A cheeky voice interjected, Ivy River glanced back, instantly irritated.
How does Alexander Hodges have so much free time now?
"Sis, why aren’t you responding?" Alexander Hodges continued to ask.
Alaric Taylor jumped in, "Alexander Hodges, first of all, she isn’t your sister anymore, secondly, we don’t want you tagging along for dinner, thanks."
"Alaric Taylor, I’m asking my sis, who are you to make decisions for her?"
The two confronted each other, neither backing down.
Alaric Taylor smiled smugly, "I’m your sis’s friend, don’t believe me? Ask her, see if she acknowledges Edwin Blake as anything significant, probably not even a stranger."
Alexander Hodges responded immediately, "Haha, even if they’re enemies, the relationship’s still better than yours; they were married and divorced, that’s a bond no ordinary person can belittle."
Ivy River: "..."
She felt so innocent, how does she end up being dragged into diss-match every time?
This was getting hit without cause.
"Alexander Hodges, if I remember correctly, you should be looking for Bryson Chaser either tonight or tomorrow, don’t miss your flight, or Edwin Blake will surely penalize you even worse."
Ivy River rubbed her forehead, speaking helplessly.
"Sis! Sis, sis, sis, I didn’t think you’d do this, aren’t we supposed to be partners on the same side?"
"We are, but listen, you can’t come tonight."
Ivy River finished speaking and turned to leave, Alaric Taylor snorted and followed.
Alexander Hodges unhappily trailed behind, "No way, I’m coming to eat!"
Ivy River frowned, walking a bit faster in haste.
As she turned the corner, she directly collided.
Ivy River bumped straight into Edwin Blake’s arms.
And Edwin Blake swiftly clasped his hand behind her waist, causing the two of them to cling tightly together.
