Chapter 255: Revised - 254 Lecturing to the Doctors
Chapter 255: Revised: Chapter 254 Lecturing to the Doctors
She directly said, "Sure, but I wonder what kind of public opinion turmoil it will cause when people see President Blake dining with his ex-wife."
Edwin Blake smiled, "Then let’s go. What should we eat? Golden Jade Pavilion?"
"No."
Ivy River firmly refused, "I’m fine with the hospital food for lunch today. If you really want to treat me to a meal, then please just give me the cash. I prefer USD, thank you."
"How’s Grandma’s report?" Edwin Blake changed the subject without a trace.
Ivy River responded directly, "Grandma’s report is all normal. Her old ailments have mostly cleared up. She just needs to pay more attention. I’ll call her to let her know in a bit."
"Alright, it’s getting late now. What time does your cafeteria open?"
Edwin Blake glanced at the time; it was almost twelve o’clock.
Ivy River frowned and said, "They start serving food as soon as you leave."
"Okay, Harry, get ready. We’ll have lunch at Medical University today. I’ll call Grandma in a bit to tell her about her condition, so you don’t need to."
Ivy River rolled her eyes, "Fine, then go eat in the cafeteria. Just don’t eat here."
"No way. I need to discuss Grandma’s condition. How can we eat in a noisy cafeteria?"
At this moment, Edwin Blake was the epitome of shamelessness.
Ivy River didn’t want to argue with him, so she stood up directly, "Fine, then come eat in the office. I don’t mind. I’m quite magnanimous."
With that, she quickly walked out.
She had already looked at today’s menu. It was full of her favorites!
She specifically took a day off yesterday because she didn’t like the menu then.
She even thoughtfully pulled Isabella Yeaton along for the meal.
She was afraid Isabella would foolishly wait in the office for him to discuss something and forget to eat lunch.
After the two got their food.
"Director River, don’t you think we have too many dishes?"
Isabella Yeaton looked at the eight or nine dishes in front of her with distress.
"Not at all. I originally wanted to order one more, but since I really don’t like black pepper chicken steak, I didn’t. Sigh, do you know who to complain to about the cafeteria’s menu? They promised pan-fried chicken breast, but why did it turn into black pepper?"
Ivy River couldn’t help but rant.
She was really upset!
God knows, the thing she hates most is black pepper!
Isabella quickly spoke up, "Not sure, but there’s no need to complain about one dish. Maybe the kitchen didn’t have ... um, decided to change the flavor today?"
She had initially wanted to say the kitchen might be out of oil.
But then she thought it didn’t make sense.
How could the kitchen run out of such essentials!
Pan-fried chicken breast is cooked in oil!
Ivy River snorted, "Luckily, other dishes are reasonably priced. All this for just over thirty bucks is a bargain, plus it’s nutritious."
"Yes, so let’s not complain."
Isabella nodded in agreement.
"Oh, by the way, let me tell you about tomorrow’s work schedule..." Ivy River stopped midway, looking up to see Edwin Blake grinning and walking towards her with a plate of food.
Ivy River: "..."
Really like a persistent ghost.
Harry Ross, holding a plate, asked the people at the adjacent table, "Excuse me, are you guys almost done?"
Two doctors, upon seeing Edwin Blake, though unaware of his true identity,
could sense the oppressive aura he emitted.
They quickly stood up, "We’re done, we’ll leave now."
Harry Ross thanked them, "Thank you."
After they left, Harry Ross wiped the table.
Edwin Blake naturally sat beside Ivy River.
Ivy River said in irritation, "Isabella, hurry up and eat so we can leave."
Isabella nodded, not daring to speak.
Edwin Blake lowered his head and began to eat. People around them gradually stood up, ready to switch seats.
"Ivy River, the food here is indeed delicious. No wonder you like it so much."
Edwin Blake suddenly commented.
Ivy River said irritably, "You’re not an employee of our hospital, so why are you eating here?"
"I’m a patient and also a shareholder. This hospital has my investment. What’s the big deal about a shareholder trying the cafeteria food? If it’s not good, I’ll make improvements."
Edwin Blake spoke with righteous indignation.
Ivy River closed her eyes slightly, "Since when did you become a shareholder at Medical University?"
"That’s a secret. If you knew everything, there’d be no fun left, right?"
Edwin Blake looked at Ivy River’s frustrated expression, feeling very pleased.
He ate with large bites.
Ivy River forcefully slammed her chopsticks on the table.
Harry Ross beside her was so scared he trembled.
Harry Ross thought, why don’t you switch seats with Isabella Yeaton?
That way, communication would be smoother, or else I’m really worried Madam might throw her chopsticks at my face.
Ivy River started eating quickly, so much so that she choked.
"Cough, cough... cough, cough."
Edwin Blake, looking concerned, handed her an opened bottle of mineral water.
Ivy River took a sip and calmed down, "Thank you, President Blake."
"No need to mention it."
Edwin Blake replied with a satisfied smile.
"How much is it? I’m not someone who likes to take advantage. I’ll transfer the money to you."
As she spoke, Ivy River opened her phone, found Harry Ross, and entered "4" in the transfer amount.
"I’ll reimburse you double. Have a bottle on me too. Harry, remember to transfer it to your boss. Thank you."
Edwin Blake wasn’t angry, "Thank you."
Ivy River looked at Isabella Yeaton finishing her last bite of rice, "Are you full?"
"Yes, I’m full."
Isabella replied softly.
"Then let’s go. Harry, after you finish eating, take your plates to the dish return area. Don’t give"
With that, Ivy River stood up and walked out.
Harry Ross cautiously looked at Edwin Blake, "President, should we follow them?"
Edwin Blake elegantly continued eating, "No, we haven’t finished our meal. Do you want to follow Ivy River so badly? Why don’t you work for him instead?"
"No need, I love eating."
Harry Ross immediately focused on his food.
Speaking too much is wrong, but not speaking is also wrong.
He had figured this much out.
...
In the afternoon.
Ivy River finished her PPT presentation for the doctors.
She walked out of the lecture room looking exhausted.
A group of doctors chased after her, eager to ask her professional questions.
"Director River, please wait a moment. I didn’t understand something."
"Slow down, slow down. Director River just gave a long lecture. Can you give him a break and ask in turn?"
The Neurosurgery Director tried to break through the crowd, "Doctor Rivers, I’ve studied medicine for over twenty years. I didn’t understand one part of your lecture and feel your explanation was problematic. Can you have a look..."
Ivy River gave him a glance and coldly interrupted, "I’ll send everyone a copy of the PPT. You can study the document. If there’s something you truly don’t understand, ask another doctor who does. Don’t come to me with every little question."
Ivy River’s words essentially slapped in the face all the doctors running after her with questions.
This was blatant contempt and harsh mockery!
The doctors’ faces stiffened, but they had to keep smiling, "Alright, that’s great. Thank you, Director River."
The Neurosurgery Director was very displeased, "Doctor Rivers, I’m talking to you. There are definite issues with your PPT. I hope you take them seriously! Don’t evade."
Already irritated, Ivy River turned to the Neurosurgery Director and stared him down, word by word:
"There is nothing wrong with my PPT. If you think there is, then present your correct answer and directly refute me instead of dismissing my work with a vague ’there’s a problem.’ Thank you."
