Chapter 242: After the modification: Chapter Two Hundred and Forty-One

Could it be that the old man knows what’s happening to me?

But it’s impossible. She’s always used a virtual name, and besides, the old man is in a completely different part of the country.

So, what’s the reason?

After thinking, Ivy River checked the time, stood up, punched out, picked up her bag, and went home.

She walked out the door.

She saw Madeline Woods sitting miserably on a bench at the door, surrounded by shopping bags.

Ivy River couldn’t help but frown, "What are you doing?"

"I’m upset. Alexander Hodges, that awful man from this afternoon, you wouldn’t believe it... Hey, hey, hey, wait for me, Ivy, don’t go!"

Madeline Woods saw Ivy River heading to the door and frantically tried to catch up.

But she was hindered by her shopping spree results.

So, she looked quite clumsy.

Isabella Yeaton couldn’t stand it, "I’ll help you carry some, Miss Woods."

"Alright, alright, thank you so much, thank you. Ivy, speak up, she’s not waiting for me, Ivy! Wait for me!"

Madeline Woods, while venting to Isabella Yeaton, loudly called Ivy River’s name.

Ivy River felt embarrassed, standing by the elevator door waiting for her, coldly saying, "This is a hospital, could you lower your voice? Have you read the sign here?"

Madeline Woods turned her head and said immediately, "Hospital, quiet noise..."

Ivy River looked at her without speaking, then said irritably, "Even though you bought so much stuff, I really don’t get why you had to bring it all up here? Do you want everyone to know about your shopping spree?"

"No, no, actually I bought a decoration for your office. When I was shopping, the store mentioned it would bring wealth. I immediately bought two, one for each of us – aren’t they a perfect match?"

Ivy River looked at her, "And then?"

"Then you know my memory, I bought so much I couldn’t find it all. I took a taxi to go shopping, and figured I’d bring it up to find in your office and leave it there... But you didn’t wait for me! You locked me outside the door!"

Seeing Madeline Woods about to start complaining again.

Ivy River took the initiative, "Alright, alright, stop talking. I know you’re disheveled because of me just now, I’m sorry."

"Fine, then I’ll forgive you."

As they spoke.

The elevator had reached the basement.

Ivy River reached for the bag from Isabella Yeaton, "You go up now, don’t work too late. I won’t be here tomorrow. If you don’t want to come, rest at home. I’ll tell Lewis Chadwick."

"No, no, I’ll come, and I can even help a bit at the nurse’s station. Recently the head nurse left and my position changed; they’re very busy."

Isabella Yeaton felt flattered and hurriedly explained.

Ivy River nodded, "There’s no one at the nurse’s station?"

"Yes, you... terminated the previous one."

Isabella Yeaton spoke cautiously.

Ivy River recalled, "Alright, I know. When I return, I’ll discuss with Lewis Chadwick what to do. If it’s too busy, take a break; don’t wear yourself out. You’ll be busy soon."

Isabella Yeaton nodded and waved to them.

"Alright, I’ll head up now. You all worked hard," Ivy River started the car and glanced at Madeline Woods, "I’m going to the kindergarten; you coming too?"

"Of course, I want to go with you to pick up the kids!"

Ivy River didn’t talk again until the car stopped steadily at the kindergarten entrance, "Get out."

Madeline Woods couldn’t wait to get out and hurried to the door.

She happily called out to Ann, "Ann! Mommy is here to pick you up!"

Ann was also pleasantly surprised but still reserved in front of others, giving a shy smile.

Fatty and Emmy were speechless.

A circle of parents surrounded the school entrance, anxiously picking up their children.

That one loud shout from their godmother made them the center of attention, with many pairs of eyes looking their way.

The two of them moved in harmony, maneuvering discreetly.

Thinking, they don’t know this auntie, really don’t know her!

But Madeline Woods wasn’t planning to let them off.

"Fatty~ Emmy~ Godmother is here to pick you up, aren’t you happy?"

Fatty and Emmy chose to ignore it completely.

Seeing Ivy River, they waved to Teacher Eulalie, "Goodbye, teacher~"

Teacher Eulalie smiled and waved, "Go ahead, you’re early today."

Fatty: "...."

Just early once, and they got embarrassed by their godmother.

Ivy River slowly walked over, "We’re leaving. Tell the principal, remember what he promised me."

Teacher Eulalie froze for a moment, then quickly responded, "Alright, alright, I understand. I’ll remind the principal later."

Ivy River nodded and led the kids away.

Madeline Woods lifted up Ann from behind, feeling very displeased!

Going forward, she gave Fatty a gentle kick on the butt, "Why didn’t you greet me, Fatty? I’m your godmother, didn’t you know that?"

Fatty covered his butt and walked even faster.

"Why are you running? I’m talking to you, Ivy! Can you manage your son, what’s with this attitude!"

Upon hearing Madeline Woods’ complaint, Fatty immediately ran to the car and obediently sat in the back seat.

He didn’t look outside because he knew even without looking that the parents were waiting to see a spectacle.

Surely, they were all eagerly watching for him to mess up!

Frustrated!

He’s a little man, okay? He cares about his face!

Ivy River stood outside the car door, laughing, "Fatty, come out and say goodbye to your godmother; we’re going home."

Emmy’s soft voice asked, "Mom, isn’t Emmy coming home with us tonight?"

"Yes, Emmy is going home tonight."

Upon hearing, Emmy became dejected, "Alright, godmother goodbye, Ann goodbye, see you tomorrow."

Seeing this, Ivy River laughed, "Why this face? Did you and Ann arrange something today at school?"

Emmy shook her head, pouting as she climbed into the car without speaking.

Ivy River couldn’t help but laugh, "Why so sulky, baby, what’s wrong?"

Ann quietly explained, "Today at kindergarten, Emmy asked if he could come home with me tonight, and I said yes..."

"Oh~~~"

Ivy River elongated her tone. She didn’t speak, just smiled at Emmy.

This gaze made Emmy’s heart flutter in a panic.

That gaze, something is off!

But feeling unhappy, she sulked, "Mom, what’s wrong? Oh, hurry up, we’re going home."

Ivy River asked Ann, "Do you want to stay at your godmother’s house tonight?"

Hearing this, Emmy’s eyes lit up.

Ann cautiously glanced at Madeline Woods, then at Ivy River without speaking.

Ivy River said flatly, "Don’t look at your mom, it’s okay, tonight godmother calls the shots."

Madeline Woods gave her a sharp look, then spoke, "Ann, if you want to go to godmother’s house tonight, it’s okay, mom won’t stop you."

Ann’s eyes instantly brightened, and her voice grew louder, "Good! Then I want to go to godmother’s house to play with Emmy."

Madeline Woods sighed, "Alright, go ahead, you really can’t keep a grown daughter, sigh."

Ann, happy, got on Ivy River’s car with her little backpack.

She didn’t hear any of Madeline Woods’ later sentiments.

Ivy River watched with amusement, "Tonight, you can organize your shopping haul nicely. I’ll give you a private space; you’ll be thrilled, won’t you?"

Madeline Woods turned her head proudly, snorted, and got on her own car.
