Chapter 177: Chapter 176: Call Grandfather

When they appeared in the public eye, it caused a stir.

No one could have imagined that Edwin Blake would personally attend this birthday banquet.

Did this mean that Gale Wiles had gone out just now to pick up his own nemesis?

After all, Gale Wiles had returned empty-handed earlier.

After a while, they arrived.

Impossible, when did enemies become close friends?

While everyone was speculating.

Edwin Blake stepped forward to congratulate Jonah Wiles, "Uncle Wiles, happy sixtieth birthday, may you have happiness as vast as the East Sea and longevity like the Southern Mountain."

Jonah Wiles looked unfavorably at him.

With a cold snort, he said, "It’s really my great honor to have President Blake attending this old man’s birthday banquet."

Edwin Blake could easily discern the implied meaning in his words.

He smiled and said, "Uncle Wiles, don’t be angry, why get caught up with the younger generation?"

Jonah Wiles ignored him, not offering the slightest positive demeanor, and turned around to entertain other distinguished guests.

Edwin Blake walked up to Gale Wiles, "President Wiles, have you found a suitable partner recently?"

Gale Wiles sneered, "I don’t need you to worry about me, do you have someone for your second marriage?"

"At least I have a date, where’s President Wiles’ date? I saw President Wiles come out at the door just now, were you preparing something?"

Gale Wiles mocked, "I didn’t know President Blake had a penchant for voyeurism."

Edwin Blake remained unbothered, "So who did President Wiles pick up?"

"Does it have anything to do with you?"

Gale Wiles’ expression was indifferent, with a faint smirk on his face.

Isla Sutton heard their sharp exchange.

She couldn’t help but step forward and tug on Edwin Blake’s arm to persuade him, "Edwin, after all, today is Uncle Wiles’ birthday banquet."

Before she finished speaking, Gale Wiles coldly interrupted, "Who allowed you to call him Uncle Wiles?"

Isla Sutton’s face turned ugly, she lowered her head without retorting.

Edwin Blake said lightly, "Why escalate corporate conflicts onto women, President Wiles? Do you feel dignified attacking a woman?"

Edwin Blake was unaware of Ivy River’s relationship with the Wiles Family.

He simply regarded it as a relationship between the two companies.

Moreover, recently his actions in expanding in Riverland City accidentally encroached upon the Wiles Family’s interests.

So it’s normal for Jonah Wiles to dislike him.

Gale Wiles displayed coldness, "Just call me President Wiles, even you are not worthy of calling him Uncle Wiles."

Their words successfully attracted the attention of onlookers.

Someone whispered, "So President Wiles and President Blake weren’t close friends after all? Then why is he here?"

"To cause trouble? After all, Gale Wiles just snatched a deal from the Blake Clan Group yesterday, a quarrel seems pretty normal!"

"Don’t talk if you don’t know, it seems these two are about to fight, let’s not get involved."

Edwin Blake radiated low pressure, "Did the Wiles Family invite me just to inform me of this?"

Gale Wiles, undeterred, took a step forward, staring intently at Edwin Blake.

"If there’s any embarrassment today at the banquet due to you, I will definitely make you pay."

Jonah Wiles noticed the two of them.

So he declared the banquet officially started.

"Thank you all for coming to my birthday banquet. Today I turn sixty, and soon I will gradually hand over the Wiles Clan to Gale Wiles. If there are any shortcomings, I hope you all will guide him in the future."

As the words fell.

A wave of flattery burst out.

"Elder Wiles, you should retire peacefully, your son’s so excellent, what are you worried about?"

"I’ve been saying you should have retired long ago, finding a good daughter-in-law for Gale is more important, don’t you all agree?"

These words hit Jonah Wiles’ sore spot.

He frowned, "The thing I worry about most now is this, if anyone knows someone suitable, please introduce them to me, not necessarily matching in status, but they must have good character."

As he spoke.

Jonah Wiles began scolding Gale Wiles, "This brat, who knows what goes on in his mind each day, I’ve told him tirelessly to balance work and rest, but he won’t listen! Thirty years old and still no wife, you have the nerve to drink!?"

Gale Wiles sighed, a black line forming across his forehead, setting down his wine glass sheepishly.

Here it comes.

It came eventually.

He responded earnestly, "Dad, I’m wrong, I’ll definitely work hard, definitely."

"I’m tired of repeating it every day. If you don’t find someone this year, I’ll put you on a dating website next year!"

Gale Wiles nodded in agreement, "Go chat with those uncles and elder brothers, Dad, don’t be mad."

Jonah Wiles grumbled but turned away to continue chatting with his old friends.

Actually, Gale Wiles wasn’t that old, but Jonah Wiles just loved children and wanted one to accompany him now.

"If you can give me a grandchild, it’ll be fine. You, you really are driving me mad! What use are you to me! And your sister too..."

Midway through speaking, Jonah Wiles switched topics abruptly, "Gale Wiles, in front of all these uncles, tell me when you’ll give me a grand grandson!"

Gale Wiles replied helplessly, "You want a child, right?"

"Ask these uncles and elder brothers, who at my age doesn’t want a little one to keep them company?"

Jonah Wiles pulled him in front of everyone, where he stood straight, hands in pockets, dealing with it.

"I’ll bring you one soon."

"Get lost! Seeing you makes me angry."

Finally, Jonah Wiles got fed up and kicked Gale Wiles on the butt.

Everyone gasped, worried he might hurt his back at his age.

Gale Wiles walked helplessly to a corner to smoke.

Blowing out smoke, he took out his phone and inquired something.

Just as he closed his phone, preparing to leave.

"Ivy River is your sister, why didn’t she return for the birthday banquet?"

Unbeknownst to him, Edwin Blake had walked up behind him.

Gale Wiles turned, squinting, "What’s it to you?"

"Nothing, just concerned about my ex-wife. If you’re really her brother, perhaps I should have a chat with Old Master Wiles?"

Gale Wiles replied coolly, "Up to you."

Edwin Blake raised an eyebrow, about to say more, but Gale Wiles pushed him aside.

"Good dogs don’t block the way."

Gale Wiles stood before him, as if thinking of something, "You’re merely Ivy’s ex-husband, a figure of the past who doesn’t count at my father’s side, so position yourself accurately and don’t bite indiscriminately."

Isla Sutton watched the pair from a corner and immediately approached.

She arrived as Gale Wiles was speaking, showing displeasure, and hastily said, "How can you talk to Edwin like that? Besides, his marriage with Ivy River was contractual, wasn’t it normal for them to divorce once the term ended?"

Gale Wiles turned, scrutinized her briefly, then curled his lips in a sardonic smile and walked away.

Isla Sutton stood dazed, that look.

Frightened her.

She regained her composure, grabbing Edwin Blake’s sleeve to whine, "Edwin! How could he talk to me that way?"

Edwin Blake responded indifferently, "Didn’t he speak to me like that too? No need to stoop to a dog’s level; let’s go."

This reaction was entirely unexpected for Isla Sutton.

In the past, whenever Edwin Blake saw her being wronged, he would erupt in anger and defend her.

But now, there was only a light remark.

Once back in the main hall.

Harry Ross was already waiting, holding a gift.

Upon seeing Edwin Blake, he approached and whispered in his ear.

After hearing him out, Edwin Blake smirked, about to speak.

Just then, they saw Gale Wiles leading two children to Jonah Wiles.

Softly urging them, "Say hello to Grandpa."
