Chapter 164 Brain Problems
Chapter 164: Chapter 164 Brain Problems
"Who can’t see a little girl’s thoughts? Oh my, I just wonder if I have that blessing. I hope Fatty can step up!"
Ivy River couldn’t help but sigh.
Madeline Woods unceremoniously said, "Fatty shouldn’t be thinking about Ann, I won’t agree to it."
Ivy River raised her eyebrows lightly, "If it really doesn’t work out, Ann liking Emmy would be fine too. I can accept it. I think Ann is more attached to Emmy anyway."
"Go to hell!"
Ivy River laughed loudly, "Why so anxious? Getting worked up already? That’s not like you!"
She watched the dishes being served one after another and went out to call Fatty back.
Leaving Madeline Woods alone in the room to self-reflect.
When the last dish, a special edition seafood porridge, was served.
Ivy River’s eyes were fixed; she couldn’t help but swallow.
The waiter didn’t notice and was about to introduce the dish.
Ivy River waved her hand, "Stop! No need to introduce, I know all about it. You can go, we’ll handle it ourselves."
The waiter smiled, "Okay, then I’ll leave you now. Call me if you need anything."
The moment the waiter turned around.
Ivy River eagerly stood up and served herself a bowl of porridge, drinking it without regard for the heat.
She let out a satisfied "Ah."
She leisurely called the waiter back, "Hello, can you make me two more servings of the honeyed version, one to go and one to eat here. Cook the to-go portion for an additional twenty minutes so it’ll be thicker."
The waiter was surprised, was it really that delicious?
Three kids and two adults.
With so many dishes, still adding another porridge.
A big eater!
But she maintained her composure, "Okay, I’ve placed the order for you."
Madeline Woods saw her come out, "Ivy River, can’t you show a little decency? People might think you haven’t eaten before!"
Neither Fatty nor Emmy wasted any words.
They collectively looked at Ivy River, "Mommy, serve us some porridge!"
Ivy River looked at their glistening eyes, smiled, and got up to serve four bowls.
Placing them one by one in front of the three little ones.
The last bowl, she placed in front of herself without hesitation.
Then she carefully advised Ann, "This porridge is still quite hot, wait a bit before drinking or blow on it, don’t gulp it down like Fatty and Emmy, okay?"
Ann nodded, didn’t speak, and obediently started eating.
Madeline Woods looked at the empty spot in front of her, unhappily said, "Why didn’t you serve me porridge? You’re so biased."
Ivy River calmly took a sip of porridge before saying, "Didn’t you just say I have no decency? Serve yourself."
"Serve myself, sure. I have hands and feet, won’t starve to death, right?"
Madeline Woods got up and served herself a bowl, leaving the pot almost empty.
She muttered, "I’m not learning from you guys, eating hot food, just now the waiter almost asked us if we’re pigs."
Ivy River, Fatty, and Emmy were drinking porridge.
No one paid attention to Madeline Woods.
Ann, seeing how much they were enjoying it, carefully took a sip.
Then she widened her eyes, unable to resist pointing at the signature seafood porridge and asked, "Why is this different from that one?"
Madeline Woods was puzzled, "What’s different? One just has a bit more seafood, the other a bit less."
Ann shook her head, whispered, "It’s just different!"
She couldn’t articulate exactly what was different.
But the secret version was simply tastier.
Madeline Woods snorted, "You’re just a little fan of your godmother, whatever she says goes, hmph."
Ann shook her head, said nothing more, quietly drinking her porridge.
Suddenly, she said to Ivy River, "Godmother, I finally understand why you didn’t eat at first, you were waiting for this porridge?"
Ivy River nodded, "Yes, Ann is so smart, much smarter than your mom, she couldn’t think straight when she was little, still can’t. Our Ann is the smart one."
Upon hearing the praise, Ann smiled bashfully.
Madeline Woods shouted, "How was I not smart as a kid? Ivy River, stop making things up!"
"Are you drinking that bowl of porridge?" Ivy River skipped the topic, her gaze fixed on Madeline Woods’s porridge.
Madeline Woods glanced over.
She really desired that bowl of porridge.
Was it really that good?
She took a sip, her eyes immediately lit up.
Emmy said in her baby voice, "Godmother, is it really good?"
Madeline Woods stammered, "Yes, your mom has taste; it’s indeed good."
"If it’s just good, don’t eat it then, leave it for us."
Ivy River teased without losing her good humor.
Ann sweetly added, pointing to the spread of dishes, "Mommy, look at all that food, all yours. Can you give me your porridge?"
Madeline Woods couldn’t bear to refuse upon hearing the plea in her tone.
She asked Ivy River, "When will the other bowl of porridge be ready?"
Ivy River replied flatly, "In another half an hour, the ingredients are freshly prepared, that’s why it’s so fresh."
Madeline Woods: ...
She looked at Ann, who was full of longing, and with a heavy heart, handed over the porridge.
Advising, "Drink slowly, your tummy isn’t feeling great. If you drink too fast, going out to play later will make it uncomfortable."
Ann bit her lip, happily smiling.
She joyfully exclaimed, "Thank you, Mommy! Love you!"
The phrase "Love you" appeared.
Madeline Woods was completely stunned.
She didn’t expect to hear those words from Emmy’s mouth.
Instantly, her eyes welled up with tears.
Madeline Woods wiped them away and then turned to look at Ivy River.
Ivy River smiled slightly, "Children need gradual nurturing, didn’t I tell you so?"
Madeline Woods nodded vigorously.
Before, she always arranged everything for Ann according to her own wishes.
Disregarding her preferences.
Now, she seemed to have grown a bit.
She knew how to ask for things, to express what she wanted.
Madeline Woods smiled and pinched Ann’s soft little face, "Oh my, our little girl has finally grown up! From now on, just tell Mommy what you want to eat or anything else, okay?"
Ann nodded with satisfaction, "Okay! Thank you, Mommy!"
"You’re welcome, sweetie! You’re Mommy’s precious!"
Madeline Woods had her vanity directly satisfied, she boasted to Ivy River, "You don’t have this, do you? This is my daughter! My daughter is the best!"
Ivy River softly countered, "Madeline Woods, you should thank me. I’m your strategist."
"Dream on."
Madeline Woods, in a great mood, grandly declared, "I’ll pay for this meal! This afternoon, Mommy won’t work and will just play with you, okay?"
Ann looked up, filled with surprise, her eyes full of disbelief.
Madeline Woods assured, "Seriously, baby, whatever we do afterward, I’ll tell you. This afternoon, wherever you want to go, we’ll have all the fun you want!"
Ann wasn’t used to this change.
Was her mom sleep-deprived and acting foolishly?
She timidly asked, "Mom, are you possessed, or is your brain not working? Shouldn’t godmother check you out? Godmother is a very skilled doctor!"
Madeline Woods was completely dumbfounded, her expression complex as she looked at Ann, unsure what to say.
