Chapter 137: Chapter 137: An Unprecedented Reconciliation
Ivy River immediately sprinted upstairs.
She cursed Edwin Blake all the way, but when she pushed open the door, she was stunned.
Edwin Blake was lying awkwardly on the floor.
The floor was littered with books and Fatty’s toys.
There was even a 3-kilogram dumbbell on Edwin Blake’s stomach...
Terrified, she quickly hid the rolling pin behind her back and shuffled to Fatty’s bed, stuffing it into his blanket.
Ivy River knelt down to check on Fatty, "Fatty, are you okay?"
Fatty chuckled proudly, "Do I look like something’s wrong with me? Now I am completely satisfied."
Seeing Ivy River arrive, Edwin Blake, driven by male pride, got up at once.
He dusted off the dirt on himself; Fatty’s antics had pained him terribly.
Edwin Blake massaged his sore spots and grumbled, "Vincent River, what trap did you set in your room?"
Fatty innocently spread his hands, "This is just something I set up for fun when I’m bored. Who knew you’d be the one messing around?"
Edwin Blake’s face turned dark, "So that’s why you didn’t stop me earlier, you were waiting for me to fall into your trap."
Fatty giggled, "Who told you to touch my mom’s photo, you pervert! Serves you right."
Earlier, Edwin Blake had seen a photo of Ivy River on Fatty’s bookshelf.
He instinctively walked over and took it out.
That triggered the trap, hitting him with a barrage of flying books.
Seeing this, Fatty even threw everything with weight in the room at him.
Distracted, Edwin Blake fell flat on his face.
"What if it was Ivy River cleaning your room and accidentally triggered the photo?" Edwin Blake growled quietly.
"There’s no chance because my mommy is usually busy. When she does clean, it’s when Emmy and I are home, so she can scold while she cleans. It’s more satisfying," Fatty knew Ivy River very well.
Ivy River blushed slightly; Fatty was right.
Ever since her divorce from Edwin Blake, she’d rarely had bursts of diligence. "Fatty, how can you talk about me like that!"
"Mom, I’m just speaking the truth," Fatty said earnestly.
Ivy River gave him a glare but said nothing more.
She listened to the conversation in confusion, not knowing why Edwin Blake was lying on the floor.
She only remembered the photo, so she went to the bookshelf and sure enough, there was a photo of her younger self.
But, this photo...
She didn’t have it, where did Fatty get it?
Ivy River asked in bewilderment, "Fatty, where did you find this photo?"
Fatty instantly recalled the photo’s origin; he had stolen it from Edwin Blake’s new house.
Oh no...
How to explain this?
He stammered, "I found it while surfing the internet. I liked it, so I printed it out."
Ivy River wasn’t suspicious; after all, Fatty often tinkered with the computer.
He frequently got into trouble abroad, requiring her to cover for him.
Edwin Blake sneered, "Vincent River, aren’t you embarrassed to say that?"
"Mom, you should leave. I haven’t settled accounts with this man," Fatty urged Ivy River to leave.
Ivy River ignored him, picking up her photo.
"Watch out!" Edwin Blake exclaimed tensely.
Fatty rolled his eyes, "Don’t worry, my traps recognize people. They won’t attack good people, only the bad guys."
Edwin Blake: ???
He was confused, "Vincent River, you’d better give me a clear explanation."
Fatty didn’t speak, coolly putting his hands in his pockets.
In the next instant.
The trap in the bookshelf sprang out, targeting the spot where Edwin Blake was attacked earlier.
Ivy River was caught off guard and jumped in fright.
She hastily retreated.
Once she understood what happened, she finally realized why Edwin Blake had fallen.
She was amused, "Fatty, why do you install these things at home?"
"To prevent theft."
Unable to resist, Edwin Blake walked to the bookshelf and picked up the dumbbell on the ground to smash the trap, "I’ll smash them all! How dare you play tricks on me!"
Unwilling to harm a real person, he vented his anger in other ways.
"Edwin Blake... You’re over thirty, how are you more childish than Fatty..."
Ivy River frowned, stepping aside, her voice exasperated.
Fatty grinned, waving at Ivy River, "Mom! Watch closely! Hehe, see how I deal with the scoundrel."
Edwin Blake sensed trouble, immediately dodging to the side.
But it was too late.
Books from the shelf flew out uniformly.
Even though he moved quickly, he still got hit.
Edwin Blake groaned, his face darkening, "Vincent River! What are you doing? Why did all the books fly out this time?"
Fatty ran past the bed to the doorway, "I’m teaching the scoundrel a lesson. Mom, are you enjoying the show?"
"Enjoying," Ivy River said helplessly, "Come here quickly, before Edwin Blake loses his temper."
Edwin Blake took two large steps to grab Fatty.
Ignoring his punches and kicks, he began searching him.
As expected, he found a remote control in Fatty’s pocket.
Standing in front of the empty bookshelf, he pressed all the buttons.
There were a total of four modes.
As expected, each button triggered a different trap.
"Ivy River, look at your genius child!"
Ivy River spoke calmly, "A four-year-old that smart will surely have unlimited potential, mommy believes in you."
Fatty nodded, "Wow, thanks, mommy. Your encouragement is my motivation."
Edwin Blake frowned at the two shameless people, his voice cold, "You two could be even thicker-skinned."
Ivy River responded confidently, "We’re not as thick-skinned as President Blake."
"Get out," Edwin Blake decided a wise man doesn’t argue with a woman, so he let Ivy River leave.
"Why should I leave?" Ivy River retorted.
Fatty chimed in, "Mommy, wait for me downstairs. He learned his lesson and wouldn’t dare do anything to me here. There are still traps in my room."
Edwin Blake laughed in exasperation.
If it weren’t for the fact that he’s his son, things might have been much worse by now.
"A gentleman uses his words, not his fists. Don’t worry, I’m a gentleman," Edwin Blake said slowly.
Fatty listened to his sarcasm and retorted without hesitation, "I’m not a gentleman, so don’t mess with me."
Seeing the two were about to bicker again, Ivy River quickly intervened, "Stop! You two need to talk properly, no arguing, got it?"
"Okay," they answered in unison.
"Alright, if there’s anything, just call me," Ivy River said, leaving with some concern.
Half an hour later.
The door to the room opened.
Edwin Blake came out looking relaxed, cheerfully walking over to Ivy River. He lifted her chin, "Vincent River is no big deal. I’m going to work, see you tonight."
Ivy River pushed his hand away, "Who wants to see you tonight, what did you do to my son!"
"Mom, I’m fine." Fatty ran over to Ivy River, a bit of joy on his face.
This left Ivy River even more puzzled.
What was going on with the father and son, that they could miraculously reconcile?
